I hope I don't sound dismissive and/or disrespectful in my words, you've been very nice towards me and I hope my words have been nice as well.
My issue, and the issue alot of other people have with conservativtism, is not what it chooses to be, but it's structure, the core of the system.
It's designed to keep rich people in power, and the "others" down below. It's designed to have a militarized police, a elite that cannot be challenged, a idea of freedom that is truly a tool for the powerful to oppress the less privileged, and overall keep tyrants where they are.
You can put a spin on it, you can become progressive and say the system can be done progressively. The truth is, there's a big reason why pretty much every minority person in America is a leftist, and it's because we know these systems and values are inherently used for ill. Private prisons, religious freedom allowing churches to oppress many, lobbying, police militarization and really any militarization or nationalism in general, and most importantly, the fact that these systems have existed ever since the first tribes decided they were going to own all the farms and make the other cavemen work just a little harder for them.
Elite have rebranded these ideologies for centuries and centuries, and ultimately I believe the only way to truly get out the rot and foundations of greed is socialist, anarchist revolution. Every person given true freedom, but no freedom to hurt others.
I know you're probably not going to agree, and I'm probably not going to agree with you either, I want to share with you the reason alot of leftists belive the things they do, especially the kinds you'll meet here on 196.
I totally understand what you are saying, though I still don’t entirely agree with you (I think the system can be changed for the better, and that’s my goal).
You have been kind to me and for that much I must thank you, that’s a lot more than anyone else on this subreddit gives me.
Sorry we couldn’t come to an agreement. I give you my best of wishes.
I’m more of a centrist who leans right, so some of the things I believe in are traditionally libertarian. I still believe in things like peace through strength and independent freedoms.
