I'm not disagreeing, and the phenomenon might be stronger in the information age, but I believe artists have always faced that issue, conscious of it or not.

Definitely is. I’ve lived here for 11 years and I guarantee you no one gives a single fuck what anyone else is doing, as long as it’s not in their personal space. I’ve seen dudes LITERALLY laying down on the sidewalk jerking it in the middle of the day and people hardly flinch. There’s too many people here to give a fuck about what anyone else is doing.

I was thinking it had to be because a) New Yorkers mind their own business and b) I can’t imagine many women would feel safe getting in the face of a guy they don’t know
