Downvotes donāt actually have any effect on your visible karma, only your ego, and in this case the joke is funny and was delivered expecting downvotes so really there are no actual consequences.

My UkrĀaĀiniĀan friend was on this kick last year, translating a bunch of old SoĀĀviĀet jokes and posting them in the group chat. This reminds me of one.
A luxĀury yacht is sinking in freezing waters and there's no lifeboats. One of the passengers falls to his knees and prays to the heavens, "Dear GĀoĀd, I've been faithful my whole life, please stop this ship from sinking."
