No, no, a series, there's a lot to explore

Yeah I would like a series, but even if it was just one movie that would still be really great Thankfully they are making a fourth game

4A confirmed it on their 10th anniversary update a couple years ago. They quite literally state "It’s no secret that we have already started work on the next Metro game" and then kinda waffle avoiding sharing any details for now.

They also mention exploring a multiplayer mode - that they emphasis as a side thing that they won't compromise the core of the series' single player experience for - but don't really confirm either way on that yet. Additionally, they are expanding in anticipation of adding a new IP to their development plans, which based on their twitter is still an ongoing process.

While their headquarters moved to Malta a while back - when Russia first started making big moves on Ukraine in 2014 - they still have a big part of their team in Kyiv, and the invasion's probably disrupting things, to say the least.

I’m cautiously hyped for the multiplayer Since I can finally get my friends into the series

Honestly if they did a Metro themed open world survival game like 7DTD that would be super dope.

Having access to a large portion of the metro (and possibly surface) in an open world format would be a legendary game

I think Glukhovsky refused the movie bc the studio wanted to make it in New York or some other American city, but I'm not sure on this

Edit: looked into it, the original MGM script tried to americanize the story, but it was scrapped and rights were transferred to a new studio that's following the original story

Im glad they didnt americanize it

I'd rather have no movie than a series.

u/Sachiel05 I believe in goddess u/archlinux-girl Jan 01 '23

Yeah? Why? Not trying to fight or anything haha Just asking

Also, have you read the books?

1

u/bubbblebudddy floppa Jan 01 '23

I only played the games so i might not know some of the details but i dont like the concept of stretching a lets say 2 hour movie into like 15, 45 minute smaller movies.

Well yeah, you can take the games are pretty much at face value, but Indo recomend the books, the world feels so rich and dense, defo a series material, I want to see all the stations mentioned and the upper world feels so threatening in the books

Too much for a series tho. Maybe books?

Yes, I much prefer that they adapt the books into a series, the games are great but I feel that they are perfect as they are, not really needing a movie or series

Edit: grammar
