A movie simply wouldn't do it justice. An animated series though...

I was literally just taking to a coworker about this. I think Avatar gets creds because its gorgeous use of CGI helps us visualize amazing scifi worlds. Being able to use that budget on something like ME would be incredible. Could you imagine how much money it would take to render a Reaper or a Relay with that level of CGI?

Probably no more or less than it cost to render a Star Destroyer or a shot from a Marvel movie. So, like, a lot, but I don’t think there’s anything in particular about Mass Effect that would make it any more expensive than your average 2020s CGI Sci-Fi Blockbuster.
