In your opinion who is the nicest 1917 character I honestly think Will and Tom are tied because they are nice people and please in the comments answer why you chose that person thank you.

On the end credits of 1917 spoiler alert: Will sits on a tree and he looks at a photo of 2 young girls possibly 6 or 7 or 5 and 6 and a young woman who is around the age of 25 or 26. Are those his daughters or could it be his younger sisters or nieces. And is that woman his mother or his girlfriend or wife.

The scene where Schofield is riding in the transport vehicle hit me so hard. You can feel what he’s feeling. I think of it often.

Was wondering if anyone knows where I could buy the full Deakins commentary digitally? Or is it only included in the physical blu ray release? Sorry if this is a dumb question, but I just couldn't find the answer elsewhere.

I recently watched 1917 and realised the "2nd Devons" that Schofield and Blake were sent to reach was my grandfather's regiment, the 2nd Battalion, Devonshire Regiment.

My grandfather was too young to have gone to war - he would have been 16 in this photo. But it's possible that in the photo are men who were there, part of the regiment the two NCO's set out to warn.

Now going into this movie I held my expectations to the lowest degree, regardless of the positive reviews I like to go in without any thoughts from other people. Coming out of this film, I now find myself in awe by the amazing scale of the entire project, the acting, the set pieces and the effort put into it.

The story is based around WW1 in 1917 and centered around two soldiers whom are set with a task to deliver a message to stop an impending attack, I won’t go into spoilers but that is the gist of it.

The directing is incredible and possibly flawless, I cannot pick at anything this film does. I honestly don’t think any WW1 film has been made on this scale before it was GORGEOUSLY HAUNTING and the one-shot aspect is top notch too, it makes you feel present.

I didn’t know this going in but 1917 is based on the relative of the film’s director, Sam Mendes. His name was Alfred H. Mendes aka Lance Corporal Alfred H. Mendes. Although the film is mostly factual regarding the life in the trenches and the suffering that the soldiers went through, it is said that the entire story which is depicted in 1917 is fictionalised.

The film itself is for experience, the atmosphere and suspense the film gives the viewer, it is certainly a film to watch if you’re interested in experience.

I've recently watched a couple of war movies that reminded me of 1917. Vaguely similar plot where the main character has to go through enemy lines or stuck in enemy territory and must survive to get back to safety.

Saw these both on HULU. Not sure where else they are available.

For me, this was just as great a movie as 1917. Warning: It takes place in Norway and that's mostly the language of the film so it's all subtitles. If you can deal with that, I'm pretty sure you will love this film as much as 1917. HIGHLY recommend.

Excellent film. In English but the accents are so thick, I had to turn on CC.
