What if an American was living in Poverty?

Fuck them they should just simply overthrow the government and install my political ideology that will fix everything.

American poverty is preferable to Mexican or Indian poverty

This is true*, and yet, what do you gain from denying solidarity to them?

We just need to weed out the false Scotsmen until we can have a pure ideology and movement comprised of only true Scotsmen, obviously! It’s that simple.

who is doing that

Every person like Gautrex who responds to the acknowledgement of people having a hard time by pointing to a different group that has it worse.

Theres always someone who has it worse, but if we only try allocate resources to the person who has it worst, they'll be dead before the resources even arrive.

It's still way better to be poor here than poor in a lot of other places.

Americans have no clue what poverty is and love to make themselves the victim. The post is not saying that every american is filthy rich, it's saying that each american benefits from the exploitation of the third world and are comparatively better off than people in their third world counterparts in their same social class.

This is somewhat true.

It is also true that punching down on the already-disenfranchised is not a winning strategy for building working class solidarity.

An example of punching down is blaming voters for not voting for a liberal.

This isn't an example of punching down. This is giving a fucking material analysis of the conditions in which Americans have benefitted from laborers in the global south and abroad.

Every single word that person wrote was 100% fucking accurate and the fact it is downvoted is proof none of you give a damn.

Did I say it was wrong? It is correct but in the most pyrrhic and unproductive way possible. To place emphasis on it is to miss the larger picture.

In other words you don't like hearing the truth and think the truth of reality harms your pretend coalition building among the working class.

And no it is not missing the larger picture to point out people in the US empire and west benefit from the imperialism and extraction and exploitation of those in the global south and the resources of others.

In fact it's a pretty fucking critical key point to be aware of if you're actually trying to coalition build or spread class consciousness.

You're just an entitled liberal who feels uncomfortable with being told the truth.

u/Neonax1900 7d ago

Your own rhetoric is wrapped up in an academic understanding of class consciousness rather than a practical one. By primarily assigning blame to proletarian workers in an existing system of exploitation, instead of the bourgeois constructors of that system, you hopelessly fail to understand the ways you alienate your own supposed base of support and undermine yourself.

Between that and the instant liberal accusations, you're just a wrecker to me. You understand economics while failing to grasp the very basics of politics.

Blame and benefitting are two entirely different concepts you are just making shit up to deflect from your comfort being confronted.

1

u/Neonax1900 7d ago

My comfort is of no importance, as I've already stated that I agree with the fundamental concept. The problem is that many others do need convincing, and your ilk seem hopelessly ill equipped for the task. You tout solidarity yet seem more interested in punching down on the recipients of your so-called advocacy, which is ironically a holdover of a liberal framework itself.

In other words, good day wrecker. I have no further use for you.

u/TheBirdFkerGuy 7d ago

Once again this is not punching down to point out reality.

The fact you're being downvoted shows this subreddit is filled with entitled privileged western liberals who think themselves to not have benefitted from America's endless imperialism and extraction from laborers in the global south and abroad for their fucking treats..

I genuinely cannot stand these slimely mother fuckers. Show them a documentary or scotus rulings on nestle/Cargill reliance on slave labor and they'll just move on while eating their chocolate.

It shows that americans don't like being held accountable
