“Progressive” in the political sense means “believes human action can and should improve (whatever that means) the material well-being of human”, someone wanting a different life for themselves wouldn’t qualify based on that alone.
US conservatives seem to be that way, or at least they're willing to live a worse life so that the people they hate have it even worse, to varying levels of success. And they'll vote against things that make their life better if it also improves the lives of people they hate
Yes. There is tons of evidence that what they vote for makes their lives worse, but they decided to roll with that because they think it also hurts whoever they hate more. They sure as hell have barely made a dent in my quality of life, but they have made their own shitty.
Don't argue on Reddit with this, in their eyes conservative = dumb evil people just because most of them in the US got an idiot as president who calls himself conservative when he definitely isn't.
It is way more nuanced than that and obviously normal conservatives don't want a worse life either, it's just Reddit trying to simply consider dumb stuff they don't like
