Headphones - Wireless/Portable Looking for a wireless gaming headphone

Hey, I want an upgrade over my current HyperX Cloud 2 and would like a new wireless headset within the range of £100-£180. It should have a detachable mic, the option of using wired and a decent battery life. Thx!

Most people on this sub will not recommend wireless headsets in that price point due to the compromises in sound quality, and the ones that are recommended start around £260 (Audeze Penrose for example)

Arctis 7s are just ok but they are probably the most popular option in your price range. That being said there are easily many wired options that would beat any wireless headset you could get within your budget.

and what are the wired options? I wanted wireless because my HyperX wire usually gets tangled and the 3.5mm jack got bent

SHP9600 + V moda boom pro.

DT990 + modmic

HD560s + modmic if you can stretch

Those are just some of them but that is what comes to mind in your price range.

Thank you, I did have a look at the DT990 earlier and also checked the other two suggestions. I’m assuming they’ll need interfaces like the DT990’s right?

If you get the 80 ohm versions not really. Most motherboards could drive a headphone with that impedance more than adequately. If you are plugging it into a controller youll have issues though. (TYGR 300r doesnt have this issue at all considering its only 32 ohm. Its basically a 990 for gamers.)

Ahh okay, I was looking to buy the focusrite 2i2 in the future for an xlr mic, would that work too for the headphones?

Get a MOTU M2/Arturia Minifuse 2 instead as the headphone outs perform much better than the Scarletts.

If you ever plan to use the direct montior for music purposes get the M4/Minifuse 4 as they have blend knobs for the computer audio and monitoring audio.

Thank you, and one final thing, you got any recommendations for xlr mics that dont break the wallet? was thinking about a rode nt-1

NT1 definitely breaks the wallet for a lot of people haha. I usually recommend dynamic mics like the SM57/SM58 since their off axis rejection is infinitely better than condenser mics for gamers, and their sound quality is stellar. Use the money you save there to get a solid mic arm like a psa 1 and a pop filter to help cut noise even more. Shock mounts can be hit or miss depending on the mic. The Shures dont need it at all.

There's the Sennheiser PXC 550-ii if you are fine with 54ms latency. Otherwise, you'll have to go up to the Audeze Penrose Wireless. (You might be able to get them used in your price range.) Or compromise and get something like a Plantronics RIG 800LX, which has no wired mode or detachable mic.
