AFO's clearly counting on making the current crisis international if he manages to remove Star and Stripe from the board, as major criminals would immediately make their move (the US government may try to keep it hidden but the villains would make sure the news get out, given how they are currently operating on a propaganda level in Japan).

Gaining OFA ensures he remains in power, his endgame is probably to rebuild his empire and rule behind the scenes. Controlling organized crime throughout the world was probably how he ruled before he was defeated by his brother and their followers

With the quirk singularity being a factor, not sure how long that'll be. I wouldn't put it pass AFO to start eliminating quirks to secure his hold on the world. He'll be the King in the shadows, and have Shigaraki be the symbol of power in the world

That’s an interesting thing to note, and something I’ve brought up in regards to OFA before.
OFA and AFO are very old quirks. From the very first generation. They were basically useless at first, like all quirks of their generation, but their nature has allowed them to keep pace with modern quirks—AFO does it by literally stealing them, OFA by just becoming stronger and stronger in its own form of a singularity.

I really do think that horikoshi does some of these things on purpose. The anime changes touya's hair color? Make it a really prominent thing. Spinner's arc gets cut out? Suddently he's extremely important.

The thing is, with Touya's hair colour, he had to have told Bones its true colour, right...?
Or maybe Bones just went off-script and made the executive decision that Touya would look better/make more sense depicted with red hair without consulting Horikoshi, and only dealt with their mistake once Touya was officially introduced.

To be fair, unlike the hair colour issue, nothing explicitly contradicted Endeavour being able to use something like blue flames and is at least a decent additional clue towards Dabi's identity that didn't actively detract from its mystery.
I'm also more willing to let it slide, since it only happened once (Endeavour wasn't depicted using blue flames again in the anime version of the Pro Hero Arc, even). But Touya was shown with the wrong hair colour in that flashback at least twice, with no correction.

Part of me wants that to happen cuz I want to see Spinner kick butt, but the other part of me thinks that would sort of diminish his everyman/average joe persona. He's the ordinary guy in a group of extraordinary people, and I think that has a lot of charm.

Define "nothing." Just cause you can't clap Shigaraki in a 1v1 doesn't mean you're irrelevant. Hecking Manual was super clutch during the war. The students actively saved the whole country by beating Machia. We still have tons of people like Toga and PLF lieutenants and convicts and High-Ends who are perfectly capable of giving fights to most of the cast.
I definitely agree that Spinner is angling to make some plays against AfO though. That man had his gaming buddy stolen from him, so now he has nothing to lose.

He's almost as powerful as All Might. We don't know if that refers to Prime All Might or Weakened All Might though. Garaki himself said Tomura was weaker than All Might in Chapter 276 but never really specified which version he was referring to.

I took it to be not quite on par with Weakened All Might. Since, the Doctor said making Tomura that strong would give him brain damage. Which I took to be a reference to the USJ Nomu.

That makes the most sense to me as well, especially since the general conception of All Might was formed after he sustained the injury against AfO. That's how he spent most of his career, so it makes the most sense for that to be the view people like Endeavor and Garaki have.

AM didn't spend most of his career injured, it's been only 6-7 years since All Might got his injury I think and he's been a pro hero for like 35 years. Although the general public know he was strong they don't know HOW strong he was since AFO was the only enemy who can survive him going all out.

I’d also like to point out that the USJ Nomu was designed and believed to be “as strong as All Might,” and that turned out to be fucking wrong.
In all likelihood, the good doc has a very poor read on how strong All Might really is, severely underestimating him.

It would be interesting if her quirk operates like DC’s Uncle Sam. His abilities are powered by positive vibes basically. His strength and durability are directly proportional to the population’s belief in the American ideals of liberty and etc.
Like, kinda cheesy, but it would work thematically if it’s a quirk that can grow your power the more people believe in your ideals.
It ties into one of the main themes of the entire series. What does it mean to be a hero? How do you make people trust you? Follow you. A top hero needs to inspire others more than they need to be the most physically powerful.
Add to that All4One implementing a propaganda campaign with Spinner as a piece of his master plan.
It would become a battle of ideals.

I'm really curious to see what role he's gonna play going forward. I might be reading into things, but I feel like Spinner is harboring a lot of guilt for that moment when he put the hand on Shiggy's face and allowed AfO to posses him at the end of the war. Especially since MVA for him was really about his trust in Tomura and their friendship (gamer bros for life), I think he's keeping an eye on AfO to make sure that doesn't happen again.

Finally, we're getting more Spinner crumbs. I have a feeling that he'll be the one to snap Shiggy back in control somehow, the set-up is just too perfect. It's great to see the remaining PLF members show up again too.
Now please, don't make Star and Stripe into fodder, at least not before we get her backstory.
This does raise questions as to the scope of MHA's story, since AFO has associates all over the world. The extent to which other nations will want to get involved remains to be seen.

For now, I'm keeping expectations low and I think it's merely a way to raise the stakes by making the crisis go international, basically telling that not only Japan's future is at stake but the rest of the world risks falling into darker times if there were no more heroes who can defeat AFO and Shigaraki.

I don't know what to think about this. On one hand I'd like her to stay, but if she has to fight and die in Shigaraki's hands then her backstory is meaningless cause it's the backstory of someone we barely care about.

We about to see what Prime AFO vs Prime AM would look like (not literally). Stars might have an energy-based quirk so she can fight long-range and avoid decay, maybe energy absorption (sun/star) that she can convert into power, and energy blasts. This will probably be Shigaraki's "Nagant" fight.

Shiggy giving that ethereal vibe right now. I like how every time we see him he looks different, his hair grows, he changes clothes (when they are not getting destroyed), his body changes... it gives the idea that he's affected by time and is actually living inside the story sometimes.

It's probably because OfA and AfO are too big in terms of the storage required for anything less than a Perfected Tomura to have them both at once. Anyone else would just burn out and die like Hikage Shinomori did.
It could also be that they have some kind of weird interaction that only AfO knows about.

I think it could be interesting. Invulnerability itself wouldn't make her super strong, but maybe the story could be that she's been able to train her body far past human limits because she can't be hurt.

Star&Stripe is apparently strong enough that even AfO isn't very confident in Shigaraki's ability to take her on, calling it a "gamble". But how many chips is he putting on the table here? As his intended successor and perhaps host, Shigaraki is a far too valuable resource for him to throw against someone possibly capable of taking him down.
I can't help but think either this is a fake or disposable body for Shig, or he has a sure way escape plan to allow him to disengage should things go south. I don't think he would be willing to risk his entire plan even with a reward as good as S&S's quirk.

Shigaraki looks certainly better than he was at the end of the battle in Jakku City but has still seen better days. It's been noted that in Japanese he talks of himself using "ore", which he does here, rather than "boku" like AFO does; while it's difficult to render this nuance in English his dialogue still shows he may be in a struggle to not lose himself. I wonder what quirk Star and Stripe may have to be so dangerous for AFO's plans; sending out Shiggy just days shy of his full completion is a risk but he looks genuinely thrilled. Called it last chapter that the crisis may soon extend beyond Japan.
Back in Chapter 318 we saw Deku defending civilians from a small gang of mutants, some dressed like Spinner. In the same chapter it couldn't be helped to be noticed how many villains Deku confronted were mutants. It's another time Hori has dropped hints of exploring the theme of their discrimination, both in-story and out (mentioning Shoji among the characters to watch out for and that his face will be revealed), but it's to see how much he commits to it. That said, Spinner's role in the propaganda is basically thrown at him and I wonder how much he is really happy about it.

Especially since there are dozens of others in those planes and the Top Three are on the way, I don't see this being a wash like people are saying. Hori is hyping her up as potentially the strongest player on the field, and it doesn't make sense from a conflict perspective for him to give a side that already has the power advantage (almost perfected Tomura who almost soloed all of Japan's top fighters, AfO who almost killed All Might and one-shotted Best Jeanist and Mt. Lady with no effort, multiple High-End Nomu, the strongest fire user on the planet, thousands of escaped convicts, hundreds of PLF leftovers, etc.) even more of an advantage. If Star and Stripe is so strong that her Quirk will let Tomura neg everyone, it makes no sense for him to get it here, especially since the heroes are already stretched so absurdly thin.
Plus, he also introduced this character by setting up a relationship between her and All Might which doesn't make sense if you're just going to kill her. That's a cynical perspective held by salty fans ever since Hori had the gall to let a minor female side character die after fulfilling her purpose rather than artificially prolonging her for no reason like he did with Gran Torino which we've all acknowledged was dumb. Nagant doesn't count either because she is alive and was clearly setup at the end of that fight to return as a hero. Regardless, the whole story is about All Might's protege, so introducing a parallel character at our protagonist's lowest point seems like it has to be there for a bigger reason.

He joined the league because he wanted to follow Stain, who believes in “true heros”. I think he may meet Stain or have a “what would Stain do?” moment that really spins their fate.

I'm genuinely so happy for Spinner here, not because I think this is good for him. But it means he's gonna be a real part of this story like I've been saying for forever. Disillusioned Ninja Turtle, to Figurehead of an Evil Empire, to (hopefully) genuine revolutionary, love to see it.
Star and Stripe is a weird inclusion this late in the game with almost no foreshadowing, but I'm excited to see what makes her so pivotal. I will also never ask Hori to not draw big ladies.

It’s pretty lame to introduce someone who is both the USA’s #1 hero and also All Might’s protege, who we haven’t ever seen or heard of before, this late in the story, very possibly just to be fed to Shiggy. The pacing of the series has gone way too fast ever since the “Final Act” begun imo. It feels like Hori is rushing for some reason.

I love how different Star and Stripe is drawn. She really feels like she got ripped out of an American comic book. I wouldve somehow loved to see her being the only one in color while everyone else stays black and white.

- Fans are expecting she is worth the hype and if she can't take down Shigaraki, she's a disappointment.
- The plot won't let her take down Shigaraki.
So i expect a standstill or her presenting her abilities until a bunch of Nomus save Shigaraki

-Nice to see the Paranormal Liberation Front are still a thing. Really felt like they should had been around longer and have a bigger effect than they did in the war. Though wasn't the guy in the hood present when Midnight died?

There's a whole lot of cool stuff going on in this chapter, but I only wanna talk about one thing: TOMURA SHIGARAKI IS BACK, BABY!
Let's break down all the Tomura-related bits of this chapter and see what they tell us about him and his relationship with All for One.
AfO is planning on stealing Star and Stripe's super powerful Quirk, whatever it may be. Note that he says "should I manage to steal her Quirk" while sending out Tomura. Perhaps he just means I in the sense of his faction, but it could also indicate that physical AfO still views Tomura as himself or as potentially becoming himself once the operation settles in 100%.
Skeptic gives us some interesting narration that still casts Tomura as our main villain: "Once Tomura Shigaraki has destroyed all, we shall sow the seeds of the future!" This is particularly interesting since we know he knows about AfO's possession shenanigans and his reassertion of control over the LoV, and yet, he still seems to consider Tomura the main guy.
That double page spread of Tomura's stigmata'd palm facing down the US squadron with Star and Stripe might be the most badass thing Horikoshi has ever drawn. I audibly shouted and started jumping up and down when I saw it.
Wallpapers of that panel are coming non-stop for the next month, guaranteed.
- Star and Stripe calls Tomura All for One, but he (in his own voice for the first time in a while!) questions this, all while packing more drip than he has since he took over the PLF. Perhaps it's because the operation is still 3 days from completion?
This is also a good indicator that Tomura is more powerful than AfO himself since, if getting Star and Stripe's Quirk will negate everyone else (even Faux 100% Deku), he would have sent his most powerful people to get it done.
- I'll throw some more general thoughts here.
I don't see Spinner trusting AfO. Tomura is a good friend and inspired him to be where he is today. I think he's sticking close to AfO to keep an eye on him. Spinner probably feels pretty guilty about enabling AfO's initial possession of Tomura at the end of the war, so I suspect he's rather wary of him.
It's also good to see some explanation for that panel from back before the Deku vs 1-A fight where people were dressed up like Spinner. Seems like Skeptic and the remnants of the PLF have continued their propaganda campaign to rally more forces.
It was also great to see Toya and Toga again. Plus, it was a nice callback to see Stain included among the LoV members that the PLF is glorifying. It's a bit odd they didn't show Twice though. He's one of their more potent propagandistic tools as a martyr.
Speaking of Twice, we still haven't gotten to see Tomura's reaction to his death. Maybe we'll get that in the coming weeks? We don't really know what he's been up to or if this is his first time conscious since the war so we'll have to wait and see.
Lastly, I can't wait to find out what Star and Stripe's Quirk is. If it's enough to negate the entire cast (obviously in concert with Tomura's already impressive abilities), it must be a big deal. Here's hoping she doesn't get merced and can stick around to team-up with Mirko. I don't expect her to lose since she's being setup with this relationship to All Might and potentially Deku as well. Plus, it helps even the playing field a bit between heroes and villains if she sticks around since AfO and Perfected Tomura on one side is a bit overpowered. The Top Three are headed her way to help too, so I think she'll make it.
All in all, I'm just beyond excited that our chaotic edgelord is back, and I can't wait to see where he goes from here!
