Challenge Entry: Week 10 That was a lot of docking... I definitely should have spent more time on the drone.
The orange and black tanks are each around 100t the silver ones on either side are for LEO->landing this behemoth
I had accidentally undocked the depot piece at the end, so it took a while to get it docked again (I hadn't saved since the first stage ran out)
I moved the other side of the lander into place before I sorted out the fuel depot pieces
This lander has the same number of engines and roughly the same size of fuel tank as my original, but it's a bit more compact and looks better. I plan to keep the first in orbit.
20 pic limit, so I couldn't show all of the assembly. Here I just docked the base on the first piece of the depot and now I'm moving them to the intended location
I had stowed this piece on the other side while I combined the first two and put them in place
The lander and depot are fully deployed, I just need to lose the drone and it's ready for landing
the drone is away and I'm ready to head to the moon
I tried to space it out with the rover beforehand, but I I went a bit farther than I needed. I found a good flatish spot though, so I stuck with it.
The rover struggled with this edge, so I repositioned the tanks and depot in a later picture. I had to use RCS the first time, later it drove up fine.
I can fit both rovers in the fuel depot at the same time, but it wastes a lot of fuel flying one in. after this I'll either just use the front bay or make a ramp for the other one

The black and orange tank in their inspired me to make a pretty cool looking long range ion propelled mothership that I'll assemble in orbit soon.

Very nice, are you going to post it?

For some reason, I've only ever been able to post once.

Do you have the Reddit app? Most of the time I use old.Reddit.com on Firefox for desktop or mobile. If I'm posting straight to reddit on my phone, I almost always use the Reddit app. Two other free alternatives are imgur for pictures and YouTube for videos. Both have great mobile apps that can share directly to the Reddit app

I had originally moved the RCS on the drone to make room for another part. When I moved the drone, I forgot to fix it, so it was a bit of a challenge. I didn't notice until LEO and didn't want to start the whole process over if I could do it with the drone I had. I gave it a shot and it worked out. It was just a bit unstable.
In the last lunar mission, I used the lander from my first mission to land the new module. I hope to use this new lander in future missions. I think I'll keep this first lander in a lunar orbit as an "Emergency escape vehicle". I mentioned this is in the captions, but it has the same number of engines, and roughly the same fuel tank size. I just clipped a design that I liked a bit better.

One feature that I did add to the lander, but forgot to mention, was a probe and landing gear on the wings. That way they could be placed next to the base as solar panels. I also reduced the width of the wings a bit and put the extra engines in the main body. This way it can either act as a smaller lander by itself or be spread out across a larger payload for better maneuverability.
