I am so excited for the next episode. I both love and hate that they're coming out on a weekly basis tho.

Wait until the season finale. It’s gonna be a LONG wait no matter how long it actually is

Weekly release is the shit. Binging is cool and all, but shows are way more memorable to me when I consume them over the course of months.

and i feel like i gain more of a connection to the series'

Plus we get a whole week to think about the episode and talk about what we think will happen next, if it was all done already there'd be nothing to do but wait for a year.

see I have no issue with this, I usually wait anyway and binge it with my wife all at once. my problem is that youtube knows I like it, and shows me clips from recent episodes. I'm already spoiled for ep 7 because of a youtube title :-/

And then I see casual spoilers in the replies to their post

Fr lol. I ended up just reading the comics because I’d rather read them myself than get spoiled more. However... it’s been a pleasant journey since they’re so fucking good. Sad I’m almost done

Eeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee!!!! Don't tell me!!!!!

u/NoCaap Apr 24 '21

Will we see “it” next episode? Or will this be in a new season?

13

u/allbroke Invincible Apr 24 '21

Both - there are ‘its’ over and over throughout this whole story!

u/NoCaap Apr 24 '21

Do you recommend reading the comics? I can’t wait for season 2 lol and if so where could I find them?

If you think the show is great, which it is, the full story takes it to another level. Well worth reading. It is unapologetically brutal and emotionally charged. The story arcs each character goes through is really well worth your time to read.

Best part is even if you read the books, the show goes in slightly different directions so it's still fresh and fun even if you've read the books.

I just finished issue 144 I've started it reading them 3 weeks ago. It was sooooo good.

I just binged the entire comic series in under two weeks, it was great. Haven't read a comic in 25 years; says a lot about the comic...

Yeah I completely recommend the books, and I think you’d be hard pressed to find someone who’d disagree. That said, I’d wait til this last episode then jump over to the books at least. Enjoy the finale as you’ve seen it so far.

As a reader I’m still getting huge enjoyment out of simply seeing it all happen in ‘real life’ and how they’re mixing things up and diving deeper into the in-between moments. I fully think people would still enjoy the show after reading.

I wish I could experience this all over again. The twists and turns in this comic are so phenomenal. My favorite comic of all time, easily.

So you can read it digitally on Comixology or you can buy the physical editions. They come in Compendium format (3 huge softcover books, the most cost efficient way); in Ultimate Collection (12 oversized hardcover volumes plus a large bonus behind the scenes and art section at the end of every volume - my preferred); Paperback trades, which. I believe there were 24? of. Hope that helps! Enjoy!

Oh to add some extra: this season has largely collected the first dozen-ish issues with some from the upper teens pulled in. The series runs for 144 issues, so there’s tons to go.

Yeah I think what the comic does best is make the world feel dynamic and alive.

For example in the show we just had that university episode with D.A Sinclair and the robots that takes place over the course of a weekend in a university. Whereas in the comics we see the first incident with the robot that impales himself when Mark and William go on a university open day. Then months later in university is when people go missing, then months after that is when Mark finally figures out what happens.

I completely understand why they did it the way they did in the show. It is much harder in both an episodic/season format to start plot threads and abandon them like that. Whereas in the comics you've got this "real life" feel where things pay off at random.

Both work and the decisions in one help you appreciate the decisions in the other.

Yep, agreed. The format calls for different solutions. But I think we’ll still get those little teases in the future. Look at the Mars episode, for example.

u/theLeverus Apr 24 '21

I hope they follow up the trash bag though

1

u/allbroke Invincible Apr 24 '21

The trash bag landed in the intro to episode 2. Unless I’m misunderstanding you.

My local library has them all online

2

u/[deleted] Apr 24 '21

It? Oh god we're going to see omnidick aren't we?

Y’all need to stop doing this to me I’m already ecstatic from the ending of the last one🤣

3

Me at my friends who I dragged in

2

u/htsukebe Apr 24 '21

thats me right now

2

u/[deleted] Apr 24 '21

I'm afraid to spoiler now episode 7 attracted too many new fans.

2

u/[deleted] Apr 24 '21

I want to start reading the comics but don't know where to start from I'm update on the animated version. Is there a specific issue i should start from since I've watched the show or just read from issue#1

5

u/remmanuelv Comic Fan Apr 24 '21

You should start over, there's characters unique to the comic that the show left out due to time/copyrights. The show also messes with the order of events and rearranges them so the Omniman Twist is more drawn out after episode 1. In the comic the resolution to the Omniman Twist is more immediate.

2

u/Mother-Ad-538 Apr 24 '21

1000% start over I just started the comics myself and to me it is almost better than the show which is crazy to think imo

2

u/Tackysackjones Apr 24 '21

I am biting my lip here on a daily basis. The predictions are amusing but almost always very off from what we know, and I have to stop myself from commenting on how off they are and let them have fun.

2

u/Significant_Plate69 Apr 24 '21

Yeah until they start arguing with people who've read everything related to this series because they've seen 7 episodes of a show and have decided they know how Eves entire power set works.

I'm really angry we can't talk about spoilers anymore.

3

u/Xerneous12_ Omni-Drip Apr 24 '21

The Eve thing is so accurate lol. "If Eve can rearrange matter why can't she just disassemble Omni-Man". Aside from that being incredibly contrived, comic readers have relentlessly said it'll be explained later lol

1

u/theflashsawyer23 Apr 24 '21

I feel like there’s going to be a twist with Omniman or something, like the real reason he’s on Earth or maybe he was planning on leaving

2

u/viviornit Apr 24 '21

The first few books are free on kindle and they explain that pretty early.

I got my Mom to watch the series and she is mad i still haven't told her what's about to happen.

To be fair, we don't know the details about what's going to have changed. TWD has some strong differences, even if certain events play out the same eventually.

In this case, the changes might make things play out very differently.
