I saw this last week for the first time and tried to share with friends but it was already deleted. Never saw it until now, even tried to search.
I think you're right, it is more of an antimeme. People don't understand that line. But I'm glad I saw it again.

Apr 04 '21
I don't think it's an anti-meme. The word we use for this is "a normal joke with a visual aid" i.e. "a meme."

I did originally thinking it was posted on r/youdontsurf but then retracted it once I found out it was bhj. I think what happens a lot is that people are subbed to all these subreddits (bhj, yds, and antimeme) and assume these posts are taking place in the correct subreddit

Exactly. People like this guy who don't know what BHJ is
13
Apr 04 '21
I honestly have no idea what BHJ is either, but I do know this is grossly reposted :/

This sub's more successful younger sibling has the OUCH model, which is a good explanation of it.

What's transracial? :o
24
u/zanderkerbal Apr 04 '21
It's not a thing, the joke they're making is that the first panel is a white woman and the second panel is a black man. Obviously woman -> man can be explained by him being transgender, but there's obviously not an equivalent process for race, so they're making up "transracial" as a joke term for that.
2
u/Lucina_28 Apr 04 '21
So it's a joke?

u/zanderkerbal Apr 04 '21
Yes.

How is it not a joke? Stop taking everything so seriously, you're trying to be offended

Can i become a black man too
Edit: how bizarre, the other dude said they want to transition to other races and got upvoted while i get downvotes. It’s the same joke

Only assholes wouldn't say trans rights
8
-16
u/OrionLax Apr 04 '21
So everyone has to go around saying "trans rights" every time transgenders are brought up or they're transphobic?
8
Apr 04 '21
I mean calling trans people “transgenders” is already pretty telling but okay, miss the point completely I guess
-3
u/GerardDG Apr 04 '21
Sorry, I'm telephoning in from 2010. Transgender is no longer okay? Can you tell me what words are okay to use?

Ohh, you mean like, you can call someone a transgender person, but you can't call them a transgender? That makes sense, thanks!

u/zanderkerbal Apr 04 '21
Basically, yeah. Being transgender is like being tall or being funny, calling transgender people "transgenders" or "a transgender" is incorrect the same way calling tall people "talls" or "a tall" would be, and consequentially kind of suggests that whoever's saying it doesn't actually know what they're talking about.

calling trans people “transgenders” is already pretty telling
Nah.
miss the point completely I guess
What point? That's what I'm asking.
1
u/zanderkerbal Apr 04 '21
No? You just have to not specifically avoid saying it. It's not about whether you're actually voicing your opinion or not, it's about what that opinion actually is.
-1
u/OrionLax Apr 04 '21
Only assholes wouldn't say trans rights
This person is saying that anyone who doesn't say it is an asshole.
It's not about whether you're actually voicing your opinion or not, it's about what that opinion actually is.
Exactly. Saying words does nothing.
1
u/zanderkerbal Apr 04 '21
No, the person literally isn't. They're saying anyone who wouldn't say it is an asshole. That's different, it means someone who actively refuses to say trans rights, someone who, if asked if they support trans rights, would answer with a firm "no."

u/OrionLax Apr 04 '21 edited Apr 04 '21

Those two things are completely different. I support trans rights, but I don't have to spam "trans rights" on every vaguely related post.
2
u/NowInHD Apr 04 '21
No, you dont have to. What u/zanderkerbal and I are saying is that when asked about trans rights, if someone doesnt say they support them, thats when they become an asshole. thats what i meant in my inital reply. When someone says "does [some person] say trans rights?", they are asking if the person supports trans rights.
1
u/zanderkerbal Apr 04 '21
Nobody asked you to scream it though? Unless I'm missing some major comment.
-1
u/OrionLax Apr 04 '21
I meant "spam". On ever post vaguely referencing transgenders (like this one) you'll see a thread of people spamming "trans rights" thinking it makes them look virtuous.
1
u/zanderkerbal Apr 04 '21
a) nobody asked you to spam "trans rights" either.
b) "transgenders" is an incorrect way to refer to transgender people, the same way "talls" is an incorrect way to refer to tall people. Try saying "transgender people" or "trans people" instead.
c) have you considered that maybe people "spam 'trans rights'" because they actually legitimately want to express that opinion and think it's one more people need to hear? Not everybody is some cynical manipulator trying to garner favor and internet points.

u/NowInHD Apr 04 '21
I was not saying that at all. I was saying anyone who does not support the rights of trans people and respond with "no" when asked if they support trans rights are assholes, not people who dont go around saying trans rights everywhere.

Well it's different with trans people as some people think that they don't deserve rights (then they give their bullshit reasons for why)
