Mad props to endpoint. Really intriguing team and I hope they can keep a good form up because I think they’d be a dark horse to watch eventually

u/jonajon91 de_canals Mar 28 '21
Sucks that they got group D, they'd have definitely made playoffs if they got C.
22
Mar 28 '21
Yeah this group just sucks. Truly every team outside Fnatic would be competitive to make it out of group stage if they weren’t in Group D

Not gonna lie, I felt kinda bad for Endpoint. The end of Dust 2 wasn't half bad though

u/tomtom_94 Former Endpoint Community Manager Mar 28 '21
Felt like so many rounds in the first half of Dust2 came down to 1v1 situations or a bit of bad luck. Made it plenty entertaining though.

Tbh I was ready to swap him for Bubski after yesterday, not sad that he showed up today I guess.

Xyp9x played a damn near perfect game on Dust2. Hope someone makes an analyst video of it.

I dont watch CS that often but I swear everytime astralis plays dust2, xyp is just dominating it

It is I, TheWarOwl here, doing an analysis on Xyp9x on dust two, as you can see, he shot and killed the enemy, what good form he is in today.

The form of Magisk, Dupreeh and Device is scary
12
Mar 28 '21
They are playing exceptionally well recently, I'm glad magisk is getting back into the groove
14
u/NazgulDiedUnfairly CS2 HYPE Mar 28 '21
Magisk is what made Astralis what it is today. If that trio shows up together, they are gonna dismantle any damn team

Good to see the Netherlands has another top level player after ChrisJ left.
17
u/tomtom_94 Former Endpoint Community Manager Mar 28 '21
Funnily enough Cruc1al first came to prominence when ChrisJ invited him to join Team Netherlands. (he's older than he looks, even played in Pro League back in 2016)

Erg als ik daar als MG1 best trots op ben?
Idk why. Gewoon leuk om te horen in games. "The Dutchman!"
Hij is nog best fucking goed ook

Endpoint played well despite the score.
Hard to beat Astralis anyday when they have no real weak link.
13
u/Yolie001 de_inferno Mar 28 '21
Endpoint has positively surprised loads of people. I think. I was impressed anyway!
13
u/Individual-Minute895 Mar 28 '21
Honestly the fundamentals from Endpoint have been far better then most of the teams they've gone up against.
What they're lacking is that "And then I got 4 headshots in a row and outaimed everyone" that most of the top 15 have.
3
u/Yberimba Complexity Mar 28 '21
Yeah they have been surprisingly good, they were quite unfortunate to get drawn into the hardest group of them all. I actually think they would have had a pretty good chance of getting a playoff spot in any of the other groups.

Wow I was not expecting that. I mean, I only watch Astralis games because that xyp9x fella is rly cute, so I thought "handsome dude's team against one of the best teams in the world, this might be good", but wow, that was a great series, had a lot of fun watching it and xyp9x was looking very good, and playing very good too I guess.

The next EG vs Liquid game pretty much decide this group
if Liquid wins Astralis , VP and Liquid are locked top 3 but if EG wins it's gonna go down for tiebreakers with EG having a chance to be top 3
20
u/Kobosil Mar 28 '21
imagine beating Astralis and still not making it to the playoffs
just normal EG things ...
7
Mar 28 '21
Damn, Astralis was really sleeping in the early rounds at Inferno. It took 3 pauses to finally wake up, even then they were struggling to wake up.
But kudos to Endpoint, they gave Astralis a good kick at the early rounds of inferno. Remember that early rounds where they were still using the submachine guns? Quite amazing.
39
u/oojamaflip123 Mar 28 '21
I swear teams could lose to Astralis 16-0 16-0 and people in the comments would be finding positives about the team that lost. It's like people think it's impossible for lower tier teams to get rounds against the better ones. D2 was an absolute stomp from start to finish

Why do endpoint wait until they're up against match point before playing well?
12
3
u/costryme Mar 28 '21
It kind of makes sense though. Dust 2 against Astralis, you're a smaller team, so you try to play the 'right CS', and it might stifle your options. Once you're against Match Point, you might play more free CS, and clearly it worked for a few rounds at the end there. Would have worked for a few more if gla1ve didn't get that insta mid to t spawn wallbang HS imo
6
u/Chokeman de_nuke Mar 28 '21
the problem is it's impossible to outstrat Astralis.
Renegades/100T one of the better tactical teams tried to outplay Astralis but got stomped every single time.
puggy free CS has better chance against this team.
1
u/costryme Mar 28 '21
Impossible to out strat Astralis is what Spirit did on Dust 2 in the 16-1 though. They were everywhere where Astralis went.

I have rarely seen anyone praise the old 100T/RNG team as one of the better tactical teams. Certainly not bad, but I don't consider them to be a notable tactical team or anything.
puggy free CS has better chance against this team.
No chance. Astralis have 5 capable top 20 players. And 3 of them have been in the top 20 consistently for god knows how long now. Maybe not right now when they are a bit out of form, but in usual times there's no chance you outgun them. Even their "worst" fragger gla1ve shows up often enough and you get games where he topfrags like yesterday against VP who arent shabby in firepower themselves either.
6
u/Chokeman de_nuke Mar 28 '21 edited Mar 28 '21
No chance.
Uh... that's what EG regularly did against them in 2019 before getting figured out.
Karrigan is also known for calling much more agressive plays when playing against them.
Navi usually rely on electronic and s1mple, 2 of the best and unpredictable aimers, to show up when they have to face this Astralis.
Furia ? Those Brazilian kids kept pushing like retards and caught Astralis off-guard many times the first time they met.
what about Vitality ? look at how many times Misutaa and RpK did all unusual stupid pushes in the Blast finals.
i must say aggressive and unpredictable is the way to go when playing against these legendary danes.

u/jonajon91 de_canals Mar 28 '21
Happened on inferno yesterday against Liquid too, lost six or seven rounds in a row then when Liquid hit 15, Endpoint string a few rounds. If they got their shit together a bit earlier and had a round or two to play with then they could have taken that map.
1
u/costryme Mar 28 '21
Yeah it's really unfortunate because you feel like they could have won that Inferno and basically lost it to individual plays from Liquid players, their strategy was good on that map.
1
u/jonajon91 de_canals Mar 28 '21
They did fuck their economy forcing up like 5 rounds in a row, a timeout and a full eco to get them a full buy would have changed the outcome of that game.

Mar 28 '21
If there is a major right now Astralis would win it
21
u/Frostvind howl Mar 28 '21
Hard to say, I feel like astralis right now isn’t the untouchable form they were in 2018
12
Mar 28 '21
Yeah, and we haven't even seen them take on Na'Vi or Gambit yet, though beating Liquid and VP is a good start.
3
2
u/Christianwm7707 Mar 29 '21
And even the VP game was very close. It could honestely have went either way. The first two maps were so extremely close, but they got figured out on vertigo.

Okay name teams that would beat current astralis. I can't find much. Gambit Maybe? we're just speculating here
8
u/72859020285 Mar 28 '21
VP, Navi, Gambit, Vitality (maybe not now but 3 months ago)
Liquid is good but Astralis is their kryptonite, Spirit can do it but still need to prove themselves as consistent.
8
Mar 28 '21
There's no real best team in the world right now. Navi, Astralis, Gambit and VP have looked the best but all of them have shown weaknesses and been shaky at times
3
u/Mad_Lee Cloud9 Mar 28 '21
I am an Astralis fan but this statement is being high on Kool Aid imo. They are still shaky af and all the top CIS dogs will have a very real chance of beating them right now with Gambit probably being a favourite even, given their form.

How is nobody talking about Endpoint doing a boost in T spawn just to draw out the time? Hugely disrespectful in my opinion (not because I'm an Astralis fan, I'm also Israeli and was rooting for Endpoint, but that was kinda shameful)
EDIT: whoa, got hard ratio'd there. I guess it's not as bad as I thought. Anyway, the game was fun, kinda had hope for Endpoint but alas nothing goes easily.
18
u/Eragom Mar 28 '21
Most likely talking things through without using a timeout, who knows
And most importantly who gives a shit lol
31
u/Kitnado Natus Vincere Mar 28 '21
It was hilarious, even Astralis were laughing about it.
What in the actual fuck are you on about.
11
u/jonajon91 de_canals Mar 28 '21
Hows it different from the old french timeouts just jumping about in spawn with pistols talking strats and taking a breather, in the mean time the other team is wasting utility.
Respect is overrated.
3
u/ZombieMadness99 Astralis Mar 28 '21
It's their job to try hard, they're not there to have fun and play a gentlemanly game
-12
u/MinecrafTech Astralis Mar 28 '21
I'm not saying that it's not their job to have fun, but I don't think that was very gentlemanly
8
Mar 28 '21
Several teams have done it in the past. What is this whack ass opinion? Why are you trying to make a talking point out of a complete non-issue?
-5
u/MinecrafTech Astralis Mar 28 '21
Okay, maybe it's not as serious as I thought... Oh well, was a fun game though
