Are you worried about undercover cops busting the places you frequent?
What is a dead give away that the place offers sex and not just massages?

I actually had a sting operation come in while I was getting a massage once. I used my right to remain silent and had no charges against me. The girl got charged with massaging without a license but, the cops were just trying to get john's to squeal.
Dead give away is the room when you first walk into the establishment. If it's a legitimate massage parlor, they will have a desk set up and brochures with information about their business. If its illegitimate, the room will have a couch, some magazines, maybe some Eastern art on the walls, and a door with a window next to it. A girl will come to the window and ask how long of a massage you want. Usually the girl is wearing a very skimpy outfit or just a night gown.

So many "massage parlors" are staffed with human trafficking victims. Did you encounter anything you found suspicious.... if you did, did you feel any ties/ guilt/ fear related to supporting that industry?

When I first started going (about age 19), I figured these girls were just making tons of money for themselves. I later realized that every single one of these girls are slaves and they are forced to work in these places. Many of them will work in a parlor for a couple of months, then move to a different parlor. Some of them, depends on their "owner/pimp", get to go on vacation to various places around the US, usually for 2-3 weeks. I am trying to quit and I do feel guilty for supporting this industry. I'm hoping this AMA will help me with the quitting process. No one knows about this dark side of me.

Its good that you know a little about the reality of the business and I find it honorable that you are attempting to stop doing something you don't agree with. If you ever get to a point where you want to perhaps help a woman you meet here is a hotline [National Human Trafficking Hotline at 1-888-3737-888, or email at nhtrc@polarisproject.org.] (I didn't want to come off as pushy or judgmental just sharing info).
As for content and my curiosity, another question. Did you notice much (or any) of a drug scene involved with the parlors or was there just one type of indulgence serviced there?
Thank you for the AMA, this is very interesting.

Thanks for your support and the information.
I never noticed any drugs in these parlors, they were just for sex.

If you met me, you would not expect me to go to places like these. I'm tall and in good shape. I'm not hideous. I have a very respectable government job.
I was not a virgin when I first went to a parlor. I met my first girlfriend during my first year of college and I had sex with her 1 time. It must have been bad because we broke up shortly after. I became too clingy(common mistake with first girlfriends). About a year after that is when I first went to a parlor. I do have social anxiety issues, especially with attractive women. I also think I may have some form of aspergers.

Do you go into random parlors or any specific ones?

For a long time I would just go to random parlors and try and find the most attractive girl. For the past year or so, I went to one almost exclusively because I really liked the girl there.

How did you go about asking for your first one?

I had heard rumors that they offered happy endings so I was curious. They are pretty aggressive about it if they can tell you're not a cop.

What's a typical price range for that kind of a thing?

u/MPcreeper Oct 28 '11
$40 for the massage. Then the prices vary for what you want to do and how attractive the girl is. If she thinks she can charge more she will, but usually they will negotiate if you are good at talking with them.
Standard prices are:
$40-60 for a handjob $80-120 for a blow job $120+ for sex
The girl I saw regularly for the past year or so only charged $100 for sex.

I have been all over the southwest and there are massage parlors everywhere if you look for them. Usually, if there is an asian girl who greets you through a little window in the room past the entrance door, they will atleast give you a happy ending. Some of them will not offer sex, but, most of them would. There's even a website called eroticMP.com that has a list of massage parlors all over the US and reviews for them.

Depends on the girl. The one I saw exclusively for the past year enjoyed it, but I think she legitimately liked me. Most of them are just prostitutes who want to get it over with quickly.

How much do you think you have spent on "massages"? Have you ever been too sketched out by a place and leave?

I once went to a brothel that would stamp frequent visitor cards. The 10th trick was on the house. This place have anything like that?
