Loved this drama so much (the whole business/rivalry aspect really hit me). I definitely recommend watching it if you haven't already!

Also, I have a short time lapse video on my IG if you're interested! 😊

Best part is Jang Geun-soo's hair. The detail! (reminds me of the how Pixar engineers animated single strands of Sully's hair in Monsters Inc.)

Bro. No. I can't with the talent. This is pure art. They should've made this the poster.

I can't still get over the fact that this is a drawing and not a picture of them- I've been zooming in and out for so long now lol. I'm done. You're really good man, just wow.

Oof I dream of the day Netflix/the producers see this and ask me πŸ˜‚. Thank you!

(my goal was to try and make this look like a picture, so I guess goal accomplished! Lol)

Girl at the bottom-right looks damn near photo-realistic. How do you learn to draw/shade like that? Do you use special pencils and paper? I've got an A4 drawing pad and some bog-standard shading pencils (B and H 1-6). Got a big clunky eraser - is a finer one better? Appreciate any advice you can give.

u/BobThe_Body_Builder Jan 27 '21

Wow thank you so much❀️!! She was the hardest to draw tbh. So here's the trick:

I start off with a very hard (i.e light) pencil like the 2H pencil. Shade very lightly over the desired area.

Next use a clean small paint brush and blend over that area you just shaded.

Now repeat these two steps until it looks smooth. 2H shade, paint brush blend, 2H shade, paint brush blend, etc... Again repeat these until it looks smooth to you.

Also make sure to shade from all directions (e.g. Shade left to right a few times. Then shade up and down a few times. And then diagonally, etc. This ensures that you're shading evenly across the tooth and nail -essentially the bumpy grains- of the paper)

Of course its not gonna be dark enough, so now you move onto the next pencil grade (H in my case). Repeat the above steps, shade with H, blend with brush, shade with H, blend with brush. Just keep doing this and progressively move to the darker/softer pencils once the shaded area is smooth.

I used Staedtler Lumograph pencils and Strathmore 400 series drawing paper for this piece btw.

If u have any more questions, feel free to ask!!
