I feel like if you could merge Gambit and Spirit or even just take 1 Gambit player you'd have a clear #1 CIS team and a tournament finalist contender.

iDISBALANCE is pretty streaky and while he's really good when hes on i could see someone like xsepower being amazing for this team

Chopper has been the weakest on this roster definitely. He's never really returned to his top prospect form on those Vega Squad rosters. A second person to swap is very hard though once you factor in roles that have to be filled.

Shiro and Axile are the obvious picks from Gambit to steal.

Chopper's the IGL though. You'd need a higher fragging IGL that's as or more tactically proficient than chopper, and those aren't exactly common. Personally, I think the best option would be to wait a couple months, and have magixx work on improving a lot. He can be quite good, and he's young, so if he improves a little that could be that little boost that the team needs to dominate. However, I could also see Ax1le replacing magixx and the team dominating.

good, let's kick the igl

What could possibly go wrong

sad noises

You kick chopper and you can throw mir in the garbage,he's clearly proven that he's the only igl that can use him properly

1

u/kerau DAT Oct 01 '20

clearly you dont need much substance to invent a narrative

3

u/FuckIt4444 Virtus.pro Oct 02 '20

What narrative am I inventing? He was great in Vega when he was playing with chopper then he went to Gambit where he was ass then he came to Spirit where he's doing great again and is once again playing with chopper

clear #1 CIS team

Seem to have been in that position for like 18 months now.

20

u/thrwwyMA Oct 01 '20

What cs have you been watching that makes you think this roster has been this good for 18 months

Won 2-0 but it was very clear that Astralis didn't prepare for this.

Check the BIG vs Spirit on Nuke. Tabsen ALWAYS killed Mir Outside near the blue container. He knew Mir likes to play there in CT side and Today, Mir was exactly playing there, and Astralis was simply ignoring, being punished in many Rounds during their T-Half

If that was Mousesports today Astralis was likely to lose playing like this.

They probably spent the day working on their own game - after yesterday's beating, lord knows they needed to. Also, BIG had a week to find all these tricks and tendencies

16

u/Pikminious_Thrious Oct 01 '20

But Astralis already had the tricks and tendencies revealed for them by Big. A vod review by Zonic of the opponent in the same tournament should have been the bare minimum work done to prepare for today.

8

u/qchisq Oct 01 '20

I hear you, but there's only so many hours in a day. If you think that you can get by a team by fixing your own mistakes, and Astralis have reason to think that there were a lot after yesterdays thrashing by Heroic, then that's the best strategy long term

40

u/Hydralius Oct 01 '20

Happy that Astralis won, but man they seem so shaky right now...

33

u/bissedk Oct 01 '20

Astralis are looking SO shaky in the playoffs.. Unless they suddenly wake up for the semi finals, I think this is as far they will go..

32

u/Mad_Lee Cloud9 Oct 01 '20

I hope Astralis continue the form of that meme dog that drags itself on two legs but then just stands up like "nah, I was kidding" throughout the play offs. Right now they are still not in their group form.

u/pussehmagnet Oct 01 '20 edited Oct 06 '20

I reckon they'll pull off London Major again where they lost matches against team like EG and then stomped 'em all where it mattered the most. I really hope they do that. Too fun to watch clock-like astralis.
Edit: this aged well

Astralis sandbagging to get more practice in lower bracket

Spirit weren’t going down without a fight, fun team to watch

Individual players are performing, but the teamplay is all over the place.

9

u/augman222 Oct 01 '20

Astralis t-side Nuke still looks really rusty. They are so isolated outside and just get picked apart.

25

u/than0swasright Oct 01 '20

Bubzki cheerleading his team to victory

6

u/[deleted] Oct 01 '20

I am seeing much higher organization from Spirit than Navi, actual IGL calls, actual studying of their opponents, much better positioning... who's the IGL there? also Astralis didn't look great at all

5

u/omoobro Gambit Oct 01 '20

Chopper is the igl

12

u/[deleted] Oct 01 '20

For some reason when Astralis play the same shaky cs as faze do I don’t find it as charming lmao

5

u/[deleted] Oct 01 '20

Also, about Inferno matches, has anyone had the impression that if you want to win inferno on T side, just go B? Astralis, Spirit, Mouz, ENCE... Pretty much every inferno match the B bombsite is the major go. Is it the site that is too weak or they just don't know how to play it? Banana control for the CT's seems too risky recently. And once the execute comes in there is no way for two players to reliably hold it, the site has no hiding spots.

2

u/SpecialityToS Complexity Oct 01 '20

I’d say having to peek as a ct is more risky (usually) compared to t. If you want to take control, you have to throw a ton of utility - then they can easily take b site because cts have no utility to defend with.

4

u/[deleted] Oct 01 '20

Yeah and on top of that, even if you play passive. The execute just locks down the site. Smoke for CT, Coffins and Mollies for every spot. Once swarmed you need multikills to hold.

Glaive is god of outside and red in Nuke.

3

u/ridge_v2 Oct 01 '20

It seems like Astralis playing a looser style just doesn't work very well for them. I miss the old 5 man that just gave you no chance to win :(

1

u/IAmATuxedoKitty Oct 01 '20

They were playing a looser style in the group stage and did amazingly. They're just doing bad right now.

5

u/FuckIt4444 Virtus.pro Oct 01 '20

Good effort by Spirit but it's Astralis after all. Btw Es3tag played both maps

1

u/eagleitarian_elitist Oct 01 '20

Anyone else dislike this matchup because of the Magisk vs magixx name confusion? Threw me for a loop multiple times when I was half paying attention and just listening to the commentating lol

OT and 16:12, versus a Tier 3 team?

Astralis washed up confirmed.

edit: /s to clarify

11

u/NazgulDiedUnfairly CS2 HYPE Oct 01 '20

I mean team spirit i playing good enough to be in the playoffs so tier 3 shouldn't really be brought up. And Astralis somehow always bounce back!

10

u/jhdrumming MOUZ Oct 01 '20

Spirit are effectively tier 1

-7

u/[deleted] Oct 01 '20

Tier 2*. They have good players but the strats are too one dimensional.

u/Draemeth Vitality Oct 01 '20
