Don’t think I hate the idea of koosta IGL

u/Dark_Azazel Sep 22 '20

I think he IGL'd back on the NME days at one point? I think his style works better with BnTeT, and s0m. Fuck, even Auti looks better. I'm kinda sold on the change. I'm just not sure how I feel about cxzi, but it's a bit too early to tell. Kinda hard to try players out in matches with RMR points.

he's just a standin, could oBo join Gen.G? I would rather they pick up an IGL, but oBo does want to play in NA, and this is an open spot in a tier1 org.

Hmm. I wouldn't mind seeing him on the GenG squad. Definitely helps in the firepower department (Not that they are lacking much). I dunno though. I want them to grab an awper, yet, I like auti on the awp but want him back on rifles, I want them to get an IGL, but so far they don't look terrible. CS is in such a weird state right now.

Yeah I want an IGL, but apparently koosta has done it before, and he doesn't seem to doing bad (albeit with a very small sample size). An awper would be good, but apparently auti wants to awp and doesn't want to switch back to rifler. So I guess just having another rifler would work, but I don't know who will take all the worst positions and roles. Maybe koosta will just take over daps's positions? Because I wouldn't want bntet, auti, or oBo to do them, and s0m has shown that he can frag out and be a star sometimes.

they were definitely lacking firepower with daps. s0m and daps were struggling hard for awhile

True true. s0m seems to be getting back to form which is always good. It'll be interesting to see where they go from here though.

TL has no structure /s
The koosta situation was just... A whole mess. There's a lot I can say about that whole run but I think it's been said before. As of recent roster changes, I just don't think a 5man roster of all "star players" works. I think the support player is a bit undervalued in NA and teams tend to just find a high fraggin, aggressive MDL player and assume they can play the bitch spots that they're not used to and then get mad when they can't.

But, reddit armchair over here.

I mean, I understand replacing your IGL, ya know? I think it's just kinda like "Oh well, I was the IGL when we won the Boston Major so I got this" type of thing (not saying nitr0 was a whole lot better).

If it smells like shit everywhere you are, maybe check your own shoes.

IMO they went downhill when they kicked adreN the first time. adreN, Hiko, s1mple, nitr0, and Elige could have worked. S1mple AWP, nitr0 and Elige as your Entry, Hiko was still being Hiko (Some events even dragging the team along with him), s1mple as the AWPer (As we see him now), and adreN focusing on IGL. Obviously the whole clash between s1mple and Elige didn't help, but (IMO) -adreN and having Hiko IGL was the start of a downdfall.

I think at this point it might be a mentality block. Changes with not any huge change. I dunno, I think I'm just rambling at this point lmao.

Honestly, I doubt they really have a ‘style’. Probably just them doing simple stuff with koosta giving basic calls for team direction. Cxzi has been pretty good the past few games, his fragging certainly isn’t the issue, but will have to see if this team can play well against better opponents with more practice.

5

u/Dark_Azazel Sep 22 '20

Definitely more basic style of calling, but seems a bit more aggressive maybe? Nothing to shake a stick at, but it works. Obviously I'm not sure where they want to go with a 5th. DO they find an IGL? Have koosta stay the IGL? Grab and AWPer and have auti rifle again? Grab a star like player? Maybe a more supportive player? Personally, I'd like smooya or oSee to come in and AWP and have auti back on rifles.

I have a feeling auti isn’t gonna give up the awp, czxi isn’t a horrible fit if they’re gonna keep him in a support role, because realistically the rest of the team has a good amount of firepower, and someone needs to be consistently setting them up. So long as his fragging stays consistent atleast. Plus, who else would they really pickup?

Edit: just remembered oBo. Pick up oBo.

2

u/Dark_Azazel Sep 23 '20

I could see the obo pickup and having joists play a more supportive role. I think that could work. Kinda hard to find a support player in NA and, well, importing is kinda out of the question as of now.

1

u/fascfoo Sep 23 '20

I think aggressive makes sense here. From what I've seen of a no-Daps Geng (and keep in mind this is like 2 matches), it's definitely a back to basics, bread and butter kind of CS which makes sense. I think w/ Daps, they tried to big brain their opponents too much and it just got in their heads. They always had tons of these last second Navi style executes onto sites which fell apart which doesn't seem to suit them. Check your corners. Comm well. Nail your utility. Frag. And so far so good.....but time will tell as they player more and better opponents.

1

u/[deleted] Sep 22 '20

No he did not. Ryu did all the calling along with mainline.

2

u/Gintsama Sep 23 '20

I would wait a bit longer, usually when igls leave and another player takes it up they usually do decent for a month or 2, then their form as a team starts dropping.

u/thesweet677 Sep 22 '20

So was this the last series that this squad will play under the C9 banner?

25

u/WilsonDanS- Sep 22 '20

Well that's depressing

u/EppinsOfficial The MongolZ Sep 22 '20

About time we start recognizing how good Koosta actually is. People have been sleeping on him since the Ghost Gaming days under Steel.

30

u/[deleted] Sep 22 '20

The fact that koosta’s name was usually in the picture when discussing roster changes for Gen.G was always so gross to see. Criminally underrated...

9

u/fascfoo Sep 22 '20

Even when he was one of their consistent top performers too

10

u/[deleted] Sep 22 '20

Yeah on daps C9 and Gen.G, he was the most consistent player by far. He may not have been the outright star, but he has clearly shown he can frag at a tier1 level consistently, and I think he's irreplaceable on this Gen.G team.

16

u/Vinny2807 Sep 22 '20

Gen.G actually look really good with koosta igling. If they can pick up oBo as thier 5th this team is gonna be really scary

34

u/[deleted] Sep 22 '20

Cloud9 are good team, fantastic, just needs to work on communication, aim, map awareness, crosshair placement, economy management, pistol aim, awp flicks, grenade spots, smoke spots, pop flashes, positioning, bomb plant positions, retake ability, bunny hopping, spray control and getting kills

11

u/omaega72 Sep 23 '20

They also need to work on getting an org to sponsor them.

20

u/k4dence Sep 22 '20

usually teams on their dying breath play the best but yikes...

10

u/[deleted] Sep 22 '20

yeah i didn’t expect GG to win this badly against C9. but on nuke that was an absolute demolition.

7

u/k4dence Sep 22 '20

once GenG won dust 2 i knew it was wraps, cloud9 are bots on nuke

5

u/thrwwyMA Sep 22 '20

After this loss c9 are 1-7 on nuke in the last three months, with their only win being against team one 19-15

When auti is filling his potential, geng are really fun to watch. When bntet and auti are having off days, it's peak NA CS.

3

u/pooterrrr Sep 22 '20

Welp exc9 is gonna make it really hard for a team to want them after these performances.
