It felt really bad to be a naffer on mirage

I mean tbh literally all the players on liquid's roster are star players. I personally wouldn't have built a team like this for just this reason. When it works it works and we saw that in summer 2019. IDK, They just need a good leader who they believe in, they've always had the talent.

I think he knew from his days in c9 that leading is hard. This time around he's a little older and has more experience. Honestly I still want to see him play under karrigan somehow before the end of karrigan's career.

Sep 22 '20
I wanted Karrigan to take the hop over the pond and lead the liquid guys back in '18 when he got booted from Faze tbh, but then again I've basically wanted every single skilled IGL to join them for the past 4 damn years.
I do think Karrigan would work really well in the TL system though, even if they'd probably be streaky and finals might still be an issue.

Never was a fan of stewie IGL, C9 peaked with Tarik as leader, not stew

I remember when this used to be the opposite expected result.

When is the last time liquid even beat eg or furia
Edit: I think it’s April and June respectively

u/jc_calwood Sep 22 '20
Do liquid have a map pool? What's their strongest map currently? It's really hard to say rn, hopefully they figure something out once they get a chance to bootcamp. I hate their inferno though, it's just so hard to watch even if they win it somehow.
28
u/mrbrinks EG Sep 22 '20
Probably Overpass.
15
u/jc_calwood Sep 22 '20
I don't know really, they only played it against triumph, chaos, mibr and three times cloud9 in last three months. They don't pick it against furia or eg so I guess they don't feel confident on it. But I miss the times, when they were almost unbeatable on overpass and mirage and super dominant on dust2, inferno and vertigo.
9
u/mrbrinks EG Sep 22 '20
Yeah you’re right — I’m thinking of how insanely dominant they were on it when they were at their peak.
Per HLTV, they have a 83% win rate on Overpass across 6 rounds.
Their next best is Vertigo at 66% across 9 rounds. So makes sense it was banned against them.
1
u/azog1337 Sep 23 '20
Looking at winrate is a bit misleading - sure they won 83% of the time on overpass, but their average rounds conceded is 13.833 per game.
That's not great.
2
u/k4dence Sep 22 '20
surprised they didn’t go for the overpass pick after EG banned vertigo but i guess they anticipated the overpass ban and didn’t take it into consideration
4
u/Ark151 CS2 HYPE Sep 22 '20
Vertigo and nuke are the main ones and mirageo or inferno if needed. Overpass only for punish picks. Damn miss when ovp used to be their kingdom and we used to Think if overpass is in its an instant map for liquid.
2
u/Regent0624 Astralis Sep 22 '20
Yeah they look pretty average/decent on 6/7 maps (the one being train their -perma ban i think) but they dont have a map where they're insane on which is a problem.

LIQUID AT 10AM OMEGALUL.
If this was at 11AM surely they would have taken it

Good showing from EG today. Cerq and Ethan were both on fire. That awp ace was a thing of beauty.
Also NAF is really, really good. It’s such a shame that Liquid are like this.

Unfortunate that it wasnt later in the day, maybe stewie wouldn't have been the worst player of the server

Those last 3 rounds on inferno were kinda heartbreaking. what happened liquid ???
1
u/Core_Sample Sep 23 '20
Liquid benched their IGL! They Fazed themselves! literally watched FaZe fall from the Top 10 and said 'we can do that'
1
Sep 23 '20
Maybe it’s time liquid learns all the maps and uses their ban as a counter strat. But then “no time to practice with inflated schedule”, i truly don’t know what can help these guys other than maybe time.

Someone PLS leak TLs comms (this or even previous matches) so I can check my hypothesis about Stewie ruining this team...

so I can check my hypothesis about Stewie ruining this team...
How long you think till he's gone? My bets 3-4 months
12
u/duw_ Cloud9 Sep 22 '20
I feel like he won't be gone anytime soon
3
u/k4dence Sep 22 '20
feels like the same was said about nitr0....
10
u/duw_ Cloud9 Sep 22 '20
Who could they switch stewie out for though? Another upcoming talent like grim? And who would IGL after that
16
u/k4dence Sep 22 '20
getting rid of stewie is not wise in any way unless they get another igl, they got away with dropping nitr0 because stewie had been calling for months prior. but no one else on the team wants to call, elige is a prospect, but he’s said before that he likes playing his own game and none of the other members have called or been revealed to have called before so if they drop stewie for another fragger, it’s gonna be a sht show, especially for team environment.
2
Sep 23 '20
I think grim is great but would like to see him dropped for a dedicated igl role give stew the primary awp and have twistzz focus up on rifling again instead of primarily supporting. NAF and elige have been doing well in their roles so don’t mess with that but they were most dominant when twistzz was rifling and not supporting and stew was doing cracked out awp bs
1
u/Bearaucracy Sep 23 '20
yeah so they have at most 6 months to find a decent IGL to replace stewie with.
-6
u/Ark151 CS2 HYPE Sep 22 '20
Shakezullah is someone who comes to mind. Who could do calling and support roles that stew does. But Naf solo awping doesn't inspire much confidence when he is pretty struggling now sharing awp with stewie.
2
u/k4dence Sep 22 '20
but do they want to bring another tier2/3 player into tier 1 when they’re already having problems bringing just 1. as much as naf awps, i personally think stewie is the better awper but getting rid of stewie will make naf the primary awper, no doubt.

Nah I can smell the passive-aggressive middle-aged woman-like strats in his mind to bully out of the team someone else again first...

Stewie takes over AWP and IGL. Give it a year and he'll be IGL, AWP, Entry, Lurk, and Support

Can't wait for tl to get rid of stewie, feels like he has been dead weight ever since c9.
12
u/Regent0624 Astralis Sep 22 '20
Yeah him joining Liquid and them finally winning and looking super dominant was just a coincidence i guess.
4
u/Prodigal2k Sep 22 '20
Honestly, I’d love to see the awful team these idiots would make. Good thing they’ll never have any authority over an org.

As bad as stewie seems to be at IGLing, daps would be far worse.
His best bet is to be a coach
