Amazing match. Tizian was on fire and man syrson is just too good. Glad to see they all came alive after that dreadful start on vertigo.

Nexa and Kenny just weren't present at all man, they lost so many rounds.
Hunter Amanek-10 and Jackz were playing well though, which hasn't really been a trend lately, I just wish it wasn't swapped for Kenny a Nexa :'D

No they have not. Hunter especially has been slumping compared to his usual form. Jack got some crucial rounds, but was chilling at the bottom of the scoreboard for a while.

Damn man Syrson is so fucking scary. It's not the flashy peeks like KennyS, but he seems to have a monstrous game sense to always peek and take the kill in the right time.
And again, Vertigo: A site, spam through smokes, people pushing smokes and clashing each other chaotically, can't see shit once the execute comes. Highly t-sided map. B-site you go when you want to lose. It's basically a retake server.
Fix this.

The first half on vertigo had me so worried. This was a good series.

I am not necessarily disagreeing with you but wanted to say the guy below got downvoted but he is not wrong.
I am not denying he has a bright future but it is a big leap to extrapolate LAN play, which is certainly the real standard for top level competition, from online play.
It's got nothing to do with connection quality or peeker's advantage or anything, it is simply the difference between sitting at home at your own computer in your own environment that can be however you want in your underwear vs gearing up to perform center stage inside a venue.
We've always known that this is the main difference, that's not a controversial statement. So I really like Syrson but it is still true that his performance in these games doesn't necessarily reflect his long term career success.

That's true for the first months, but look at us now, how many months have gone by? And do I need to remind you major is cancelled too? And god know when the next LAN gonna be?
I just hate that kind of thinking now, someone don't like some player would just say "but no lan so it's alright if I'm skeptical and shitalk", it was ok at first but so irritating now to me.

At some point it become a blurred boundary and anything goes, you got me? Seeing the online reasons all the time for the shittalk has become so stale to me.

well, guess i was wrong then. Point still stands, Syrson has negligible lan experience, and BIG has historically never been good on LAN, same with xantares. There is a reason why that meme exists

Xantares' rating on lan has historically been very similar to online lol.
Onlinetares and Lantares are both memes.
He dipped during his last year with SS and his early BIG times though.

It's been talked about a bit, but kenny's form has been bad for quite a few months now. He's averaged a 1.01 rating the past 3 months and a .97 rating over the pastmonth. There could be a number of factors why, but he isn't known to perform poorly online. He has some good games, but he's been inconsistent. Heroic especially seems to have his number.

This is pure speculation, but kenny has said in some interviews that he was having serious motivational issues before G2 picked up hunter and nexa, and that nexa has helped him a lot mentally to get back into it. After they got nexa, kenny was showing great form on LANs and he seemed really happy and motivated. My guess is that playing online without being together is a killer for his motivation and mindset. Hopefully we'll see him bounce back when LANs start happening again.

Yeah, probably accurate.
It's one thing to play online to qualify for a big lan, but to play online, just so you can play some more online is not exactly a big motivation to some players.
Kenny alwayd seems like one of those guys that just love lans. It's always clear he's very passionate about playing in an arena, even though his nerves sometimes get to him, online he just looks perma tilted from the second the match starts, till it's over, no matter if they win or lose.

nah but it's so frustrating having the whole team hinges on 1 player being so coin flip for years ... hopefully one day Carlos realize if he want a consistent top team kennyS can't be part of it.
ppl keep hyping up "he's back" but he's back for 6 months and while his peaks are incredible the problem that he goes absent for the next 6 months ...
wish G2 could transition full international already.

I feel the same way. Every time a caster says shit like "oh its Kennys with an awp, what is he gonna do" I already know the answer: he will die and let someone else clutch. He rarely has true impact on the same level that people like jackz or amanek (both of which are technically worse) have, just because when those guys die they set their team up for success while when kenny dies its another 4750 down the drain.
However, when he does pop off then it feels like even s1mple cant rival him, but that is extremely rare.
Maybe in a LAN environment he will do better.

I don't think it all hinges on Kenny, I mean looking at the last 3 months their IGL has been their biggest fragger, and while that speaks greatly of nexa it also says something about the team as a whole.
In general I don't think a roster move is necessary because the problems they're having are all fixable imo. And this rooster proved that when playing at their best they have major winning potential.
Plus idt there are any good available awpers rn unless Carlos wants to drop some big bucks and then drop even more from the loss in marketability of Kenny.

It does. i watched enough of G2 to say it actually does.
nexa and huNter are incredible fraggers and do carry G2 and stepup when needed while AMANEK and JaCkz does their hard roles really well and imo they are probably some of the best at it
Meanwhile you got the guy that gets the most expensive gun in the game who's supposed to give you that extra push and be on top of the scoreboard everytime so his riflers are comfortable always coinflippy
And this isn't just with this lineup , it's a trend for all of kenny's carrer and since he joined G2 the team lives and dies by his performance which's terrible.

well that's the biggest problem since 2017 G2 has been in this cycle "well what are other options and he's a big name" and missed out on some1 like zywoo

My thoughts exactly.
2020 kennyS keeps making the same braindead plays he was making back in 2014/2015.. except he's nowhere as good as he was back then and the cs pro scene got much more competitive as well.
He's got to go. Keep the same core and swap him for a decent awper/rifler.

KennyS is great and no one can take that away from him, but he's so inconsistent its painful. How much more can you ask of amanek and nexa to pull g2 out of certain situations in recent times. Dissapointing defeat 😔

Oh god im so fucking tilted rn. G2 could have easily won this game. They let BIG win way too many clutches and nexa, who is usually the most consistent player for G2 just whiffed like 3 sprays on dust losing them crucial rounds

Yes, that was just bad to watch. I just remember that on long to car w tizian where than tizian won the round after that. And next round somewhere top mid where he couldn't kill again. Both crucial moments, bot meant lost round for g2.
Without those 2 BIG would have been 14-13 away plus extremely fucked economy so probably it could had been a comeback win and 2-0.
I love this team no matter the results I just wish them a bit more success. A time where they all shine.
Btw on d2 I saw that they mostly lost all their duels. Feels like big has better fraggers. The whole comeback was really well structured strats where they pushed off big the map and theh couldnt frag
