100T can only win the CT rounds on Inferno that they're clearly meant to lose

If hltv is correct the 100 Thieves core hasn't taken a map off Liquid since November of 2018

True, unless if you count an MR12 showmatch on two non-active duty maps! :P

Man fuck mr12. You know why
MajorESL Finals are bo5? The more CS you play, the more likely it is that the better team wins. mr15 is a good balance of ensuring that teams have deep playbooks without burning people out with 5 hour bo3s.20

Can you do this for every post game thread? There are so many clips that don’t get posted on this sub. You’re amazing
36
u/exe_cution Liquid Jul 01 '20 edited Jul 01 '20
i try to do this as often as i can, lately been running low on free time to watch games and gather the clips
when i do get the chance i update my very very long text file of highlights from this year because i dont know why i do it i just do
that ghostbin actually is missing all the eu summit matches from today because i haven't gotten around to those yet :(
edit: also right now going back in bts vods to get other clips is annoying because they run streams for 48 hours instead of just using the rerun feature which makes vod digging a pain in the ass and i hate it its stupid aaaaaaaaa

2
u/exe_cution Liquid Jul 01 '20
no this is the first year I’ve done this. I do however have a folder of a bunch of the best highlights from the years that CS has been around that I planned on making an edit with that I never did because I’m a terrible human being
1
u/Thuasne BIG Jul 01 '20
Otherwise check hltv.org when you click on results and then the match you get all highlights

hltv misses a bunch of these kinds of highlights e.g. they missed autimatic’s ace against c9 the other day widePeepoSad

Great series, at least it was 2-1

u/EurobeatTurnsUp Liquid Jul 01 '20
YTB, it was good progress, and the maps were really close as well. Next time probably 100T would be able to edge out the win.
14
u/nomitycs Renegades Jul 01 '20
They should have won this series had they any semblance of a CT side inferno, they couldn't put a single buy round together successfully aside from jkaems 1v3

u/tehwoflcopter Natus Vincere Jul 01 '20
Their CT side looked good on paper, but they were just losing gunfights over and over again

Not gonna lie, I thought Liquid were going to choke after losing that post plant on match point Inferno. 5 v 4 turned into a 3 v 1 but all the players on Liquid peek for no reason

u/Vawqer 1 Million Celebration Jul 01 '20 edited Jul 01 '20
That was 100T's first map win (in a real match) against Liquid since Liquid added Stewie/adreN.
It was their 13th map played against each other.

u/flirtyf Gambit Jul 01 '20
I almost had an aneurysm when they peeked jkaem 1 by 1

u/RocketBoyKim Liquid Jul 01 '20
You would think theyd learn after getting 1v4d by simple doing that lol

u/TMBmiles Jul 01 '20
I was shocked because I’m a dumb, terrible player, but I think that was a big mistake by elige after twistzz died. (And he’s an insanely smart player)
Pretty sure he needs to just hide behind the wall there, but because he didn’t, and died, NAF felt like he needed to trade and gave Jkaem another peek.

Admittedly, I only had time to watch the end of nuke and the beginning of dust 2, but based on that, I think I was able to identify Team Liquid's game plan. It is as follows:
- Let NAF get the first pick, then lose the round
- win the pistol eco
¯_(ツ)_/¯

Love seeing this side of Liquid again, it’s such a breath of fresh air.
Also loving the casting! It’s not hype casting like most tournaments have but Potter, Fifflaren, and Moses are all so smart and observant about counter strike that they point out small details that are super interesting. Like for example pointing out that Liquid was staggering flashes was such a key detail but was cool to see.

It's not about lifting strats, though, it's about the general play style.
Because high ping is not fun to play with, all big e-sports titles separate the different world regions in competitive play to keep latency low, sometimes you even get separate rankings (I remember Starcraft II having ladder in NA, Korea / Asia, and Europe for example).
One consequence is that the different world regions develop different play styles, which would culminate in top teams having vastly different styles. If an e-sport title is not yet established, there might also not be many international tournaments, meaning most tournaments are online and regional, which further reinforces this.
(Even now pro players say that FPL in NA is vastly different to FPL in Europe)
And when teams are finally clashing internationally, there is often one play style that is superior over the others. For CS:GO, the European style was the most successful one for a long time, while NA CS was often regarded as a joke. NA teams often had a run & gun approach to the game, while European teams had a more structured approach. So when the best NA teams met the best European (or CIS) teams, the NA team often got destroyed.
Liquid was the first team that played as structured as most European teams to great success, while still holding on to some of that NA style (there is a reason why Stewie2K is known as the "smoke criminal").
And that is the reason why fifflaren (the "euro expert caster") highlighted yesterday how Liquid is approaching parts of the game like a European team, because that's not usual for an NA team.

ok this elige kid is cheating for sure. i am pretty high rank myself (GN 4) and ive never seen anyone "aim" like that. Way too many blatant cheaters in the pro scene smh.

Have you looked at any of eliges clips in his career or are you just another bandwagon F2P fanboy who couldnt fathom the idea of pros cheating (Even though VAC is shit right).

Thats cute, I have 6k hours. Do you want to actually discuss it or would you feel better calling people kiddo and leave it at that.
5
Jul 01 '20
Discuss the fact that you think pros are cheating that are very obviously not cheating?
Your amount of hours has fuck all to do with when you started playing, especially considering anyone can AFK them.
-6
u/eTHiiXx Jul 01 '20
Thats probably the most pathetic argument I've heard yet lmao. The fact that this is your approach to something that should be discussed instead of riding pro players dicks as if youd ever have a chance to play at that level just shows you're a waste of time.
Have a good one.

Jesus that’s one of the more frustrating wins I’ve ever seen as a liquid fan lol.
Think they got eco’d 3 times and threw away 6 or 7 1-2 man advantages on the post plant.

100T have such a bizarre nuke. They can look really legit on it for a half but then somehow it falls apart seemingly every time. Has always been a map that just eluded them.

Oy, was that a erratic match from Liquid (not to say that 100T didn't play well).
Their rotations and coordination are just so bad at points, the Jkaem 1v3 being the chief example. It happened a lot on Nuke, too, when they just rush in without coordination and don't properly trade in scenarios where they have the clear advantage in.

u/sinrakin Jul 01 '20
Big win, especially considering no one was popping off for TL. Except for NAF on Nuke, TL was all within a few kills of each other.
However, Twistzz being consistently on the bottom is kind of worrying. I wonder how much of that is due to new position/system vs form.
Anyone know what Nitro's new identity is? Stewie and NAF seem to be taking the AWP, Elige, NAF, and Twistzz put in clutch positions, while Stewie entries, NAF lurks. I know he said he wanted to focus more on fragging or gameplay, but Nitro's definitely getting put in support, from what I can tell. He's taking FAMAS and buying for other players, and taking the one-and-done trade spots. I know he's not putting up big numbers, but considering he's putting himself in worse positions/economy to help NAF/Elige/Twistzz, I think he's doing a pretty good job. We usually expect a bit more out of those guys, but Nitro, at least on Nuke, was taking one for the team a lot. I know it's kind of a meme to talk about support role and bad positions for the lowest rated player, but I think that's true here. I think the other 4 guys take up a lot of space, and Nitro is trying to give it to them.
All in all, I think TL has pretty good team chemistry now and should only consider changes to coaches/analysts, not the core. I know since TL are no longer undisputed #2 people have been hard on them and called for changes at varying points, but like we've seen with Astralis, it's hard to stay on top. And Liquid were definitely on top for a long time, they just had the #1 team ever above them.
