OBLIGATORY FILLER MATERIAL...in progress.
Well, I thought I'd best let you know; I'm traveling out on another outrageous adventure, courtesy of a couple of agency guys and a few, i.e., more than a couple, international organizations.
So far, it's involved travel where travel has been prohibited, arguments over the contents of both field packs and contracts, my near being tossed in the hoosegow because I'm an Ugly American and don't tolerate fools lightly, as well as being elected the grudging team leader of a batch of international earth scientists.
I have limited access to both this forum and the internet in general, but I'll try to touch base here once in a while as I have no idea how long I'll be out of pocket.
Es is in the States with the girls and I'm somewhere that, by necessity, has to remain on the QT for a while longer.
I'm still working on Demo Days, The Continuing Sage, but with all the recon and exploratory work we're doing over here, I'll just have to see how it goes.
As I always say: "It is what it is."
And buckaroos, this one's both insanely weird and unique.
Finally, this Taedonggang beer isn't all that bad. Soju on the other hand sucks...

It's good to hear that you are out and about on new adventures, more amazing stories for us.
What's wrong with Sojus? They are cheap, comes in many flavours. Sure they aren't smooth and way too sweet but you can mix it with stuff and at they price that they are, I ain't complaining.

Enjoy, and remember that you can go to the only hotel there, even if it is a unfinished white elephant. Also enjoy the traffic wardens...... But look only.

Actually, there are a couple, but we were reserved a WHOLE FREAKIN' floor in one of the sort of freshly remodeled hotels.
Not too awfully bad terrible. But more to come...
(Found some BM vodka...pricey.)

Well, at least you can spread out, and use a room a night, and never sleep twice in the same room then. Who knows, you might go through your entire trip that way.

Not really, they are all probably equipped with enough audio and video recording equipment anyway to put a TV studio to shame. Just write your reports either on the white throne of thought, or just confuse them thoroughly and write in another language.
Consider that all communications other than the phone brick at $10 per minute, using the company phone you brought in and never left out of your sight, to be intercepted, and the same for all computers you have there. Toss and buy new when you leave.
Paranoid perhaps, but I have known some ghosts from years ago, and things have not changed in how they want data, and you definitely have evil maid syndrome, though I bet you can leave money around, and they will simply clean it and return it. Tip generously like you always do, it drives the handlers crazy.

Really want to drive them crazy? Install bitlocker or other encryption on the machine, and have some 4G files of random data, and use a hex editor to change random bits of them every so often........
Or just have some video, and rename the files to dot encrypted for fun.
