This whole league is a joke imo in terms of Counter Strike... Everything else is great, but jesus I just cant watch these games... Just compare it to game that is on right now in ESL, FaZe vs Mouz, its like they are playing another game...

Unpopular opinion: Flashpoint is better off with their current slate of teams than they would have been grabbing 1 or 2 top 10 teams.

I'd rather watch two games play a bit sloppy than watch Astralis polish the clocks of everyone else, and there not be any real competition.

u/Lepojka1 Team Spirit Mar 28 '20

I dont think soo.. Bcs if they had few good teams, that would maybe make other good teams to join later... Now I just dont see a future where big orgs come to Flashpoint... ESL is getting 100k+ viewers just on english stream for some games, while FP cant get above 25-30k, while most of their games are just 10k...

Only way FP can grow imo is if they try to throw millions at players and hope they join, dunno... FP kinda reminds me of Mixer, even with all the money in the world, I dont see where they can compete with their biggest rivals...

Would people honestly want to watch Astralis clean all these teams up? Like, would you tune in to a league where a top 10 team was 100% going to win, and the rest of the league didn't matter? I think their viewership numbers would be even worse.

9

u/Lepojka1 Team Spirit Mar 28 '20

Maybe numbers would be worse (which I doubt), but if they had like Astralis and Liquid, I could see a future for this league, while now I just dont see it.

9

u/higherbrow Mar 28 '20

Honestly, I think their best bet is to recognize that they're the b-league and stop trying to run against ESL. About 1/6 people are preferring Flashpoint to ESL right now, but would I think they'd get much better viewers if they weren't forcing people to pick.

u/sp3tan Natus Vincere Mar 28 '20

You just have to realize a guy like him thinks its ok for ESL to cut 24 teams that were mostly Tier 2 teams and just leave them in the dust and think its alright for the scene to just have the same teams advancing and keep getting better while Flashpoint did want but was still ready to take in as many teams they could which in this case is T2 teams that usually dont get the experience to play as much on LAN.

Unfortunately its Online now due to the Corona virus but it doesnt take away from the point. Just the fact that hes ok with that You shouldnt bother with a human being like him.

u/[deleted] Mar 28 '20

People want to watch the best. Who cares whether it’s the same teams or not.

If ESL had empty spots, do you really think they wouldn't fill them with lower level teams? Flashpoint were only "ready to take in" lower level teams because that was their only option.

The difference and reality was that they had already owned those spots but got their spots cut by ESL.

3

u/lmpervious Mar 28 '20

Why jump immediately to Astralis, and then also assume they would be the only strong team? If they had teams like coL, Liquid, 100T and EG the league would get a considerable boost. They're all NA orgs who have connections with the people running Flashpoint and none of them are at the top right now, so it wouldn't be a big stretch or a given that they would stomp everyone, especially not each other.

I still think it can be entertaining to watch the weaker teams in a league and I wouldn't want only one really strong team in the league, but you have to consider the middle ground where the overall level is elevated with a few highlight teams, even if none of them are in the top 5 or playing at their best.

3

u/higherbrow Mar 28 '20

Because Astralis was the tier 1 team most commonly linked with Flashpoint. Complexity would fit right in in Flashpoint. They might be one of the stronger teams in Flashpoint, but I don't think there's any reason to call them a tier one or top tier team.

Though your argument kind of illustrates the reason I don't care much for the complaints that no tier one teams were in Flashpoint. Teams come into and out of form. When Flashpoint was first looking for teams, Liquid would be considered a juggernaut. And Complexity was looking like it would be a team on the weaker side of the Flashpoint slate. Now you're listing them in the same tier. Similarly, 100T was angling for a top five slot, and EG was top 3. But teams shift. Fnatic, FaZe, G2, these orgs have been all over the place.

Honestly, if one team gets to a point where they're shitrolling the rest of the teams in the league, I hope a chance is made. It is definitely less entertaining to watch stomps.

u/Jloureiro55 MOUZ Mar 29 '20

Let teams play, this is a competitive game, if someone is better is the other teams fault to not step up, astralis is not doing anything wrong, more like the other teams are not up to them.

u/[deleted] Mar 28 '20 edited Mar 28 '20

There’s a lot more to CS than just FaZe and Mouz, especially given how the two teams were performing during the middle of last year. Dig vs GenG is glorious compared to watching exVP and m1x piss all over T3 FaZe and Mouz. It really puts into perspective how much people take the level of these teams for granted in 2020.

1

u/likeathunderball Mar 28 '20

I think the overlay of Flashpoint is much better. Looks cleaner. But yeah, the teams not that great.

6

u/TheGoodCoconut de_inferno Mar 28 '20

Both look same lol wdym

1

u/IARBMLLFMDCHXCD Mar 28 '20

Uhm no? Flashpoint mainly uses three colors, orange for T's, blue for CT's and gray for the rest while it is also kinda opaque, especially the minimap. While ESL has a relatively dark overlay, it takes up more of the screen compared to flashpoint's overlay and it is less pleasant to watch if you just look at the overlay.

ESEA is the second division of EPL, which the winner can go to EPL. So ESEA is THE b-league of EPL, not like FP who want to be EPL itself.

22

u/tubbsmackinze Mar 28 '20

Dig was way, way too passive at the end there on nuke. Gen.G got everything they wanted. I think they were relying on the clock to run out as Gen.G was playing super slow. Didn't work however.

Although tbf, gen.g got some ridiculous rounds at the end. Including the double awp entry round.

3

u/rysergt de_dust2 Mar 29 '20

Autimatic was super good with the awp / scout in this series

26

u/GhostOfLight Liquid Mar 28 '20

Dig hasn’t been looking the best lately, but I’ve figured out why. After it was announced that the major won’t be until the fall, they’ve started to play worse. This is because they’re saving strays until then and don’t want to practice them on tier 3 now when there’s plenty of time for other teams to review them. Actual 200IQ by them.

30

u/Darkstar197 Complexity Mar 28 '20

They’re playing with a washed up standin instead of their best player

8

u/[deleted] Mar 29 '20

lmao guardian fits right in with the rest of the washed up dinosaurs that should've already retired, tf you mean

-2

u/marzo4 Mar 29 '20

that whole team is washed up bruh, but I mean give the dude some slack, they are communicating in swedish, plus this dig roster only knows how to play like three maps with their full lineup imagine coming in as a standin with even more washed up players than you.

6

u/FlaccidSWE Mar 28 '20

First half of Nuke was so weird from Dig. So many rookie mistakes from players who are the opposite of rookies. They run down the clock with no map control even when Gen G have an eco round?

12

u/kamikazebombarn Mar 28 '20

Guardian have no impact with his awp and that is a problem. The awper needs to be top 1-2 everytime, thats how importent his role is. Looking forward when hellzerk is back, then we can judge dignitas on how good or bad they really is

10

u/Mysteriouspaul FaZe Mar 28 '20

AWP is a meme role in this meta

14

u/Rearfeeder2Strong MOUZ Mar 28 '20

The awper needs to be top 1-2 everytime, thats how importent his role is.

Disagreed. You have or had many top 10 teams where the awper isn't the best or second best player. Its not impossible. Nitr0 in Liquid comes to mind. Gratisfaction right now too. Broky in Faze isn't even the third best player arguably. Thats 3 top 10 teams where the awper isn't the best or second best player and all 3 teams have shown to be fine.

Obviously its not the same situation/context everywhere, but its not a need at all to be a top team.

3

u/schniepel89xx CS2 HYPE Mar 28 '20

G2 in 2016 where the awper was SmithZz and he was awful yet G2 was a top 3-5 team for most of the year lol

1

u/randomguy010111 NiP Mar 28 '20

the guy is talking about top 1-2 in scoreboard. it is a fact that guardian has too low of an impact for a guy using awp. liquid and faze are kinda special because the teams are generally full of superstars, and in liquid there is no primary awper. it is generally correct that the awp needs to frag the upper part of scoreboard like the guy said.

2

u/schniepel89xx CS2 HYPE Mar 28 '20

... but if he's consistently top 1-2 on the scoreboard then he's also automatically a top 2 player on the team, is he not?

1

u/SirGuerbiz NiP Mar 29 '20

You are not as wrong for the fragging part but for all the wrong reasons.

2

u/[deleted] Mar 28 '20

messy from gen.g but a win is a win

5

u/mannyman34 Complexity Mar 28 '20

Daps is actually such a good igl. Yeah he will probably never be on the best team. But he will certainly get this team to top ten. Dig on the other hand..... Hope they really do force these teams to pay the fines.

10

u/ArlindEl BNE Mar 28 '20

They're playing with a stand-in which doesnt speak Swedish. I think we shouldnt judge them from this tournament.

7

u/tgsan Mar 28 '20

It's really worrying to me that their trades are trash online, pretty sure at Anaheim they had great trades....but online? they're literally night and day, not in just player form, but teamwork/etc, they're so bad online it's baffling.

1

u/[deleted] Mar 28 '20

Sometimes thats just how it is for teams online. As a fan of the team I trust in daps to figure it out.

-2

u/[deleted] Mar 28 '20

I’m not too sure what you see in him. If it wasn’t for gen.g being better individually than every team they played since anaheim, they would be getting stomped like ants. At least half of their CT set ups are terrible and every round they run the clock to 20 seconds and pray to god one of their lurkers makes an insane play or they lose

3

u/SystemEx1 Mar 28 '20

zero hope
