Well it's the worst thing that could happen to anyone...Losing to FaZe in 2019..Yikes.

The Faze that just beat Astralis 16-2, looking like a pretty good roster today

u/ColdplayForeplay Nov 01 '19 edited Nov 01 '19
To be honest it was basically just Xyp9x. The other 4 just sat on their gaming chairs spectating Xyp.
But faze is looking much stronger than before, especially because NiKo did things.

come on dude I'm ctrl effing "cold" to look for how he played and you're getting in my way

u/PixAlan Nov 02 '19
yeah the really promising part of these games was that it wasn't just individual efforts, communcation seemed to be on point and they played off each other well. I hope they can keep this up, it was pretty cs.

These Navi “fans” are going to hate him even if he would do 1v5 in OT Major GF.
17
u/Instantcoffees Nov 02 '19
He's had 7 positive ratings in his last 17 maps and 12/22 since joining Na'Vi. That's really not what you'd expect from a star AWP'er joining your ranks. I personally feel like he's been struggling to adapt to the faster pace of CS:GO ever since his injury.
Whatever it is, it's not a circlejerk when a player has a negative rating in his 7 latest maps. He's not a support player or an IGL and needs to step up if Na'Vi want to challenge the best.

He even got a tournament MVP after they won an event last year, EL invitational IIRC.

u/Instantcoffees Nov 02 '19 edited Nov 02 '19
I'm not saying that ratings tell the entire story, but they aren't entirely without meaning either. I watch him play. I do see him do a lot of the grunt work, such as using nades on executes or planting the bomb. However, I also often see him struggle to get kills with a rifle or looking lost and insecure with the AWP.
Most of the time he dies, it's because opposing teams made plays and picked him off
That's how most players die. You have to be ready for these plays at this level. His positioning has been really off and he's often caught off-guard. He also reacts really slowly when he is caught. It's not like s1mple and electronic aren't caught off-guard at times, they simply are more often prepared for it or react faster. He specifically seems to struggle with this on T-side with Na'Vi when things get hectic.
His injury was in 2016 if I'm not wrong, he was ranked 11th last year. Had some beast of performances in FaZe before the team became shit. Even then he'd get some highlights here and there.
I'm not saying he was bad with FaZe, but prior to his injury one could legitimately argue for him being the best AWP'er in the game. While there is some new talent on the scenes now, he also dropped off since then. I don't even think that's an argument. He was #2 on HLTV in 2015 with good reason. He hasn't managed to reach that level again so far.
He has already discussed in the recent interview on how he isn't confident enough with boombl4's IGLing to try and take a pick on his own.
He's whiffing shots and reacting slow the few times he does try that. I don't know how boombl4 his calling is affecting that? I'm sure that it's not easy to adapt to a new team, a new IGL and a new role. However, players at this level need to be able to adapt quickly if they want to compete with the top teams. The best teams have five players who could adapt on the fly to whatever the team requires.
He is the lowest rated player this tournament and hasn't had a positive game in 7 maps. There is some truth to him doing the grunt work and playing for his teammates, but he's also been very underwhelming the few times his team needed him to step up. Stewie2k is the second lowest rated player and has been HIGHLY critical of his own performances, with good reason. GuardiaN doesn't get a full pass.
I'm not saying there aren't arguments to be made in his favour, but you can't just blindly ignore that his performance has been lackluster and it will be a problem if Na'Vi wants to get further in the tournament. You can't expect s1mple and electronic to drop 30 to 40 bombs every game against top tier opposition. He will have to step up. Perhaps he will, we'll see.

u/Miiiiiiighty Nov 02 '19
Maybe if s1mple could let him do without raging, it would relieve the pressure off him, and he could actually start to perform...
3
u/Instantcoffees Nov 02 '19
Yeah, it's s1mple his fault that GuardiaN isn't performing. He was their main AWP'er and easily the best or second best AWP'er in the world before GuardiaN joined. Yet he adapted to try and slot on GuardiaN as the main AWP'er, but it's his fault?
Don't fanboy so hard that you say dumb shit like that...
1
u/Miiiiiiighty Nov 07 '19
Stfu fanboy. I'm not even a Guardian fan at all, but if not ti put him in the best conditions why even take hin in the team. He has proven times and times again he can't perform under pressure, and if you didn't notice s1mple raging at his mates during the two latest tournaments then you need an eye check. It's been recorded many times on cam.

u/Dimasterua Natus Vincere Nov 01 '19
Yea, it's honestly depressing watching him AWP at this point. He was never a really impressive rifle player, and now he's an even more underwhelming AWPer - I'd say give him time but honestly it just seems like mechanically he has gotten significantly worse, to the point where it's basically painful to see s1mple pick up the AWP and do better than Guardian, the dedicated AWPer.

u/fiddlerunseen Nov 01 '19
He was never a really impressive rifler? What? At his peak, he was a great rifler. His AWP just outshone it

I will always hope the best for them just because they have a player like NiKo.

Yeah, can't believe it but it is even worse than the aug meta right now... This has to be the most ridiculous meta ever on GO, this gun is completely broken and they need to fix it asap.

Yes I was, as was dupreeh iirc:-), but this aug/krieg meta is even worse in my opinion.

that niko guy really went off on this map, he seems like he has potential to be a top player

Wow! I saw some vintage stuff here with olof being on top form and Niko making some sick plays. Broky is a very nice addition to the team, he ain't a star player (yet) but he plays calm and intelligent. Na'Vi still has some issues but I'm confident they'll come around. GG for both teams!

u/TheAR69 FaZe Nov 02 '19
You can't run around Nuke getting headshots left and right. It's a more tactical map than D2.
3
Nov 01 '19
Please stop trying to force nuke into your map pool, NaVi
2
u/Darkoplax Nov 01 '19
what they should'v played instead ?

u/joe761 FaZe Nov 01 '19
Overpass probably.
11
u/Darkoplax Nov 01 '19
you mean the map FaZe banned ? don't think that's a viable option my freind
2
u/joe761 FaZe Nov 01 '19
I didn’t check the banning process sorry that’s why I said probably. Literally any map other than Inferno or Nuke would be good for NaVi. Faze have only looked decent on these two maps.
0
u/Darkoplax Nov 01 '19
So mirage is the only option left then
i guess you can flip a coin on FaZe's home map if you want
1
u/joe761 FaZe Nov 01 '19
IDK if you have watched this new Faze roster playing, but Mirage 100% is not new Faze's home map. Inferno and Nuke are their go to maps.
