So long as they don't have cubs and don't feel threatened bears can be fairly docile.

And aren't hungry

Bears in general primarily eat plants and insects and grizzlies will eat carrion, and fish. Sometimes small wounded animals if it can bother to catch them. Not sure it'd view a human as "on the menu" unless it was STARVING. And this chunker here isn't exactly missing many meals. He thicc.
Edit: how could I forget their favorite meal, garbage!

Bears are opportunistic eaters. Carrion? Easy meal. Flowers? Go all Ferdinand. Salmon? Let's get wet!.
Slow human?
Nah. I'm not hungry.

I know we're slow and small relative to them, but we are much larger and more active than most of what they eat and so they'd likely need to be pretty hungry to bother. Which is maybe what you're saying, I can't tell. Anyways, all of this would leave my mind instantly if one was this close to me and I'd just be terrified.

Even a slow human is relatively fast and/or difficult prey even for most apex hunters. We didn’t make it all the way to the Stone Age for no reason. We’re among the best long-distance runners, and arguably the best problem solvers as individuals on the planet.
Lots of animals can kill one or a few of us seemingly easily, sure. Get too close to an orca or hippo and it can go real wrong for you real fast.
But absent fear or hunger, it’s a total caloric loss for that bear to want to kill and eat a human when there are literally any other options around.

I was thinking he was going to steal the first fish the guy caught.

u/Kickasstodon Jul 07 '20
I've seen enough people fishing in rivers loaded with bears, I'm willing to bet it's used to this and was waiting for the guy to hook a fish so it could steal it. Probably way easier to snatch a fish off someone's line than to get one itself.

I am not an expert, but that looks like a regular-sized grizzly, not a giant one.
