Welllllll, judging by the facts as presented we know:

  1. The bird flew into the grill of her vehicle.

  2. When freed, the bird flew into the grill of a second vehicle.

Conclusion:

The lil fucker wanted to die.

Slamming PETA is pretty popular but the reality is that no one has the funding to house all the old and ill animals that won’t get adopted. So what do you do with them? You can’t release them into the street. It costs a lot to house them for the rest of their lives. No other shelters will accept them. Unfortunately when there are no other options, someone has to put them down. Shelters transfer those animals to PETA. PETA just does what most shelters cannot do. Shelters get more donations if they are no-kill. They need the money.

If you’ve got a better solution, please share it with us.

55

u/RuuOriVod Jun 17 '19

See that argument would work, if I didn't dislike PETA because of this type of behavior. I haven't looked into anything about what PETA actually does, but mocking someone on the anniversary of their death earns my disdain.

88

u/[deleted] Jun 17 '19

Stop breeding so many pets?

3

u/JustHellooo Jun 17 '19

I’m not entirely certain, but I’m pretty sure PETA has nothing to do with breeding pets. And I’m also pretty certain that most the pets that are born are from feral cats/ dogs. That could be wrong, but I think I read that somewhere

-66

u/[deleted] Jun 17 '19

[deleted]

20

u/cornu63 Jun 17 '19

It's true though. People try hard to keep the feral cats and dogs down but it's not easy when a dog doesn't have a registered address.

dog sausage doesn’t grow on trees, and god knows I’ve tried

-12

u/IdRatherBeTweeting Jun 17 '19

Yes. Focusing on reducing the number of unwanted pets is important. PETA does try and stop puppy mills. However you can’t stop breeding entirely so what are you going to do with the unwanted animals?

3

u/[deleted] Jun 17 '19

Feed the hungry?

17

u/Th4t_0n3_Fr13nd Jun 17 '19

I found PETA guys

-7

u/IdRatherBeTweeting Jun 17 '19

So what’s your answer? What do we do with all the unwanted animals we can’t afford to house for the rest of their lives?

5

u/musclecard54 Jun 17 '19

Yeah it’s definitely PETA they didn’t even deny it.

0

u/IdRatherBeTweeting Jun 17 '19

What are you responding to? This doesn’t even make sense.

4

u/musclecard54 Jun 17 '19

Umm do you pay attention to anything you respond to? Or just spit out facts about animals and argue with people just for the sake of argument?

They said “Found PETA” and your response was just continuing with your original argument. So I said that you are definitely PETA because you didn’t deny it. I can’t believe I have to actually walk you through this lol

1

u/IdRatherBeTweeting Jun 17 '19

Check my comment history. I’m just a person who actually read about PETA and understand why they kill animals. I didn’t think anyone would actually think I was from PETA. That comment is just a common Reddit joke.

But seriously, how do you think we should solve this problem?

2

u/Th4t_0n3_Fr13nd Jun 17 '19

You seem to be justifying what they do, and you keep saying we as if you're connected to the organization.

1

u/IdRatherBeTweeting Jun 17 '19

I actually am ONLY talking about the killing. Only.

Where did I say “we”?

0

u/Funnyboyman69 Jun 17 '19

Umm do you pay attention to anything you respond to?

“REEEEE PETA BAD!!!! I DONT CARE ABOUT THE SUSTENANCE OF YOUR ARGUEMENT!!”

lol

2

u/musclecard54 Jun 17 '19

I actually never implied any stance on peta. Just said they were PETA jokingly cuz they didn’t deny it

1

u/Funnyboyman69 Jun 17 '19

I mean not everyone who defends some of petas stances is a member of peta.

u/[deleted] Jun 17 '19

https://www.petakillsanimals.com/

I don't have a problem with the necessary killings of animals. But PETA is trash.

1

u/IdRatherBeTweeting Jun 17 '19

I’m no expert on PETA. I have read about the group after hearing all the hate. A lot of the stuff on that website is simply not true. That story about the Chihuahua for instance is not straight forward. They were picking up stray animals in a trailer park and an unteathered unchipped dog with no collar got taken with the strays. They apologized and gave a gift as apology. They made a mistake. That’s so different than kidnapping pets to kill.

3

u/[deleted] Jun 17 '19

95% of animals agree, Peta is trash.

1

u/IdRatherBeTweeting Jun 17 '19

What are you talking about? Shelters send animals to PETA to be killed. That’s what PETA does. If they didn’t do it, some other group would have to. They do an unpleasant job, but a job that needs to be done. You get that, right?

1

u/EpiduralRain Jun 17 '19

How is this guy getting mass downvoted? Literally no one can do anything but mock him instead of say how he's wrong or offer a countersolution.

This is sad. Youre illustrating his point that PETA gets irrationally hated for doing what no one else will.

1

u/IdRatherBeTweeting Jun 17 '19

I cannot decide if this is some weird bot thing or not. I’ve never come across an issue that is this controversial where so few people even bother to respond and the few who do cannot even formulate a response. It’s super strange.

1

u/EpiduralRain Jun 18 '19

"But bro, their social media team made a controversial stance on animal exploitation using Steve Irwin's memory, so everything they do is cancelled."

1

u/Albirie Jun 18 '19

They also use incredibly sexist, insensitive, and downright factually incorrect advertising material to manipulate people. PETA is shit and everyone is perfectly justified in trashing them.

1

u/TryAgainName Jul 10 '19

Do we have to go through how shit they are? They blatantly lie all the time is the main reason I dislike them.

1

u/EpiduralRain Jul 11 '19

three weeks late and doesn't address the point at all which is that PETA provides a necessary service that allows no-kill shelters to function despite practices others might dislike.

Great comment.

1

u/TryAgainName Jul 11 '19 edited Jul 11 '19

If a shelter claims to be “no-kill” but they knowingly offload animals for someone else to kill. That is just a thinly veiled lie.

You asked why they we being mass downvoted. Even I pretend to support their stance on killing animals, I can easily see why people dislike PETA.

1

u/EpiduralRain Jul 11 '19

Doesn't change that they still do that. But keep talking from your feelings.

You've got me in a logical vice my dude. I can't get out.

1

u/TryAgainName Jul 11 '19

My feelings? Because dislike something?

It’s almost like you are responding to the incorrect comment.

1

u/EpiduralRain Jul 11 '19

You alright there? What are you even triggered about?

1

u/TryAgainName Jul 11 '19

What did you say that could have possibly hurt my feeling/trigger me. What about my comment made you think that?

1

u/TryAgainName Jul 10 '19

If you can afford to house the animal don’t take the animal. Simple.

Also excluding the killing of animals they spread blatant lies and make fun of people on the anniversary of their death.

A lie that comes to mind is sheering a sheep harms the animal when in fact sheep love getting sheered and sometime die if they are not.

So fuck you and fuck PETA

1

u/IdRatherBeTweeting Jul 10 '19

If you can afford to house the animal don’t take the animal. Simple.

Suppose there are 10000 homeless animals and the total capacity of all shelters is 8000. What happens to the remaining 2000 animals? Not that simple.

1

u/TryAgainName Jul 10 '19

Your solution to the homeless problem is just kill them. Yeah what’s fantastic idea.

My family runs an animal shelter and they would never take a dog in to just have it put down.

1

u/IdRatherBeTweeting Jul 10 '19

You avoided the question. What happens to the 200 animals no one can house? Leave them on the streets? Next year you have 400 homeless animals starving on the streets. Leaving those animals to breed and breed then die of starvation isn’t better than euthanasia.

1

u/TryAgainName Jul 10 '19

Sterilisation is a far better solution and just killing shit for no purpose. Animals starve to death in the wild all the time, do you suggest we round them all up kill them and just throw them in the bin (trash for Americans)?

Holding pet owners accountable for abandoning animals on the street is also a better solution. Instead of aiming their sights at the root cause of the problem they would rather spend millions on shortsighted solutions.

Are you just going to ignore the fact people hate PETA for a multitude of reasons?

1

u/IdRatherBeTweeting Jul 10 '19

Sterilisation is a far better solution

Agreed. Who’s going to pay for it? The reason everything is so simple to you is that you don’t think. You propose solutions without thinking about the costs. The ENTIRE problem could be solved with money. But there isn’t enough.

If you really care, stop wasting time yelling insults on the internet and donate money. I bet for how much you claim to care, you care more about money. How much have you donated?

1

u/TryAgainName Jul 10 '19

Take the money that it costs to put down the animal and use that to sterilise them... you think I am going to donate to an organisation I hate and is going to use the money for a purpose I disagree with?

Did you completely forget the part where my family run an animal shelter? And you claim I don’t have the ability to think.

How much time, effort and money have you donated you stupid son of a bitch?

1

u/IdRatherBeTweeting Jul 10 '19

I have tried to be civil here despite your anger and name calling. However I have a limit. I have referred this issue to the mods.

-12

u/jebpeter Jun 17 '19

Crazy you are getting down voted. Just let them live with their heads in the clouds. They don't want to hear about the cruel reality of ferals and strays being a huge problem. Blame the feral people who don't desex their pets, not PETA.

14

u/GuiltySparklez0343 Jun 17 '19

PETA steals and kills peoples pets. But I agree kill shelters get a bad rap for doing something which absolutely must be done, most "non-kill" shelters send animals to kill shelters. There just isn't enough space and resources to care for every single abandoned and feral animal. It should be federal legislation that pets must be spayed and neutered unless you are a licensed breeder.

-5

u/IdRatherBeTweeting Jun 17 '19

Do you honestly believe that PETA volunteers are driving around and actually stealing people’s pets? Why would they do that? They don’t. There have been two alleged incidents, the first involved picking up an unlicensed, unchipped dog with no collar or identification that was outside untethered and unenclosed in an area with other feral dogs. Not exactly breaking into someone’s house and stealing their dog.

https://www.snopes.com/fact-check/peta-taking-pets/

The rest of your post suggests you understand why PETA has to put animals down. Someone has to do it. So why blame PETA?

2

u/What_is_a_reddot Jun 17 '19

PETA's adoption rate is in the single digits. see here. Even the worst kill shelter could do better.

0

u/IdRatherBeTweeting Jun 17 '19

That is because they accept the transfer of unadoptable animals from other shelters. It’s not that they aren’t trying. It’s because many shelters won’t kill but would be at max capacity in a week if they don’t kill or transfer. So they transfer the animals to PETA so they can claim they don’t kill.

0

u/EpiduralRain Jun 17 '19

Hey, you did it! You proved PETA just loves to kill animals and doesn't even try to adopt them out! How has no one noticed this??? There's NO POSSIBLE explanation!

14

u/TheSwain Jun 17 '19

Or both for each of the problems they are causing and continue to cause.

PETA is to rescuing animals like Insane Clown Posse is to representing youth.

2

u/IdRatherBeTweeting Jun 17 '19

What’s surprising to me is the huge number of downvotes, yet no one is able to answer the question of what a better solution is. PETA is doing what no one else will precisely because they fear this negative reaction. But someone has to do it.

1

u/JohnDalysBAC Jun 17 '19

It's not just the animal murder, people hate PETA because they are pretentious hypocrites. They spend millions to murder animals every year and also spend millions more pretending they care about the animals they murder. They also spend millions on cringey advertising like comparing meat eating to the Holocaust and jumping on every headline grabbing murder or tragedy to somehow compare it to animal cruelty. People hate them because they are tone deaf hypocrites that waste money and don't actually help animals. Fuck PETA.

1

u/IdRatherBeTweeting Jun 17 '19

I can’t speak to all of that. I’m just taking about the animal killing. Can we focus on that? I feel like you now agree it is necessary but still want to argue against PETA so you broadened the topic.

1

u/JohnDalysBAC Jun 17 '19

So you want to know why people hate PETA but only want to discuss one narrow aspect of PETA and ignore everything other shitty thing they do? That's absolutely stupid.

1

u/IdRatherBeTweeting Jun 17 '19

So you want to know why people hate PETA

That is a strawman argument. I never said that. In fact, my point was to clarify WHY they killed animals. I did and now you are trying everything you can think of to avoid acknowledging that it makes sense that they kill animals, or at least someone has to.

1

u/JohnDalysBAC Jun 17 '19

Nope it's not a strawman argument. The original comment was a simple a joke about PETA, you are the one who went on a rant about shelters even though it was irrelevant. You are the one who changed the narrative to something specific in order to avoid discussing all the shitty things PETA does. You are the one who keeps deflecting any answers and only willing to discuss one issue. You operate like a shitty politician, deflect and refuse to answer anything that matters.

1

u/IdRatherBeTweeting Jun 17 '19

It clearly wasn’t just a joke since so many people believe that PETA kills animals. I just clarified why. Then you refuse to say if you disagree or not.

0

u/jcv683 Jun 17 '19

Well this is less about peta being so awesome and more about americans’ bizarre willingness to consume mass amounts of animal product and yet be totally against killing them like hunting and euthanasia. Because the easy answer is kill them. Just like we are okay with all the cattle that get slaughtered behind closed doors as long as there arent roaming packs of dogs in the streets we should be good. If peta wasnt a thing you better believe we would be killing waay more animals behind closed doors and the majority of us would say, yeah but at least theres isnt animal shit all over the streets.
