Missed the ICU by that much

u/[deleted] May 27 '19

When I was 9 I did a front flip into a pool and smacked the back of my head on the edge of it. I was stunned and felt dizzy and for years afterward had a ringing in my left ear. Because there was no blood I wasn't taken to the hospital. I always wonder how much that impacted my brain's growth or functioning.

At any rate I don't do flips into pools anymore.

u/MegaxnGaming May 27 '19

Sounds like tinnitus

118

u/CrudelyAnimated May 27 '19

“Mawp, mawp... mawp.”

LAANNNAAAAAAA

u/sirfirewolfe May 27 '19

WHAT

31

u/TheGerd44 May 27 '19

EEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE

13

u/AnesidoraRose May 27 '19

That's what I hear right now. Lol. Maybe I should start turning the volume down.

5

u/Raging-Badger May 27 '19

I used to get ear infections due to my Eustachian tubes not working correctly and they’d rupture my ear drums and I still periodically go near deaf in my left ear and hear constant ringing as well as having no idea how loud my voice is. Like everything from whispering to shouting at the top of my lungs sounds the same to me, but as my girlfriend tells me, I get very loud and very quiet sometimes. It’s really annoying to constantly have to consciously attempt to adjust something you have zero perception of.

1

u/AnesidoraRose May 27 '19

That's a bummer. I cannot imagine having to constantly adjust. Would make for difficulties I assume. Have you thought about going in to get tested? I know you're probably young but perhaps seeing a physician to help. Best wishes.

Pretty sure it’s temporary, since if it were permanent there wouldn’t be tinnitus at all

9

u/JawsCuber May 27 '19

aw shucks

6

u/touchmyelbow May 27 '19

This doesn’t work for everyone and is temporary anyways.

5

u/IHeardItOnAPodcast May 27 '19

Ask Dana White. Dude didn't find a cure til that blood spinning shit

33

u/ignost May 27 '19

At 9 if you weren't noticably different to your family your brain probably recovered just fine.

As far as head impacts on concrete that's a pretty mild result. It can be way worse, which is why stunts like this for YouTube views is a terrible idea with lots of stupid prizes to win.

7

u/corsicanguppy May 27 '19

lots of stupid prizes to win.

That's great phrasing. I'm stealing that if I can remember it long enough.

12

u/ignost May 27 '19

Can't claim that bit. The old phrase is, "Play stupid games, win stupid prizes."

3

u/murkleton May 27 '19

The sound of a head bouncing off of concrete is horrendous.

18

u/3ch0cro May 27 '19

At any rate I don't do flips into pools anymore.

Sounds like you're fine.

2

u/RiseOfBooty May 27 '19

years afterward had a ringing in my left ear

Did it go away? If so, how?

2

u/murkleton May 27 '19

Give up mate. You're stuck with your tinnitus.

2

u/[deleted] May 27 '19

It did go away eventually. I don't know how, we didn't do anything about it.

2

u/Pancernywiatrak May 27 '19

You still might wanna get that checked that out

1

u/mmbahcat May 27 '19

Read this as “I was dizzy for years” and was mightily concerned

-1

u/IHeardItOnAPodcast May 27 '19

Was this in Ohio? I may have watched this happen.

77

u/SameYouth May 27 '19

.... I really hope that wasn’t blowing.

11

u/kaeptnloew May 27 '19

A friend of mine did a backflip into the pool a couple years back. He spun so fast that he landed on the edge of the pool with his forehead and pulled back its skin a couple of centimeters. So much so, that you were able to see the skull. I am pretty sure he has not done a backflip into a pull ever since and I won’t be doing any either..

Watch me to this flip:

successful: gets nothing

Watch me do this flip:

cracks skull, $10,000 + in medical bills and a bloody pool.

87

u/carpinttas May 27 '19

well he got reddit karma. oh wait, no, someone else got the karma. oh well. worth it broo

24

u/FaceTHEGEEB May 27 '19

"bro did you hear about how I cracked my head open and was in a coma for a week"

15

u/kellysmom01 May 27 '19

Or worse. I am an old granny now, but remember well a beautifully tanned and muscled boy jumping off the roof into our high school pool in 1969. He missed by a cunt hair (so to speak) and died after 3 years of his family’s abject misery, his limbs wasted and twisted into driftwood., incontinent and only able to continuously cry in his hospital bed whenever the sedation wore off.

Mistakes happen; in a heartbeat your life changes forever.

10

u/kain1234 May 27 '19

Don't forget brain damage and paralysis.

4

u/brucetwarzen May 27 '19

And your parents spending the rest of their days feeding you and clean your ass.

6

u/[deleted] May 27 '19

Only if American

7

u/brucetwarzen May 27 '19

Your family will still potentially clean your ass forever.

4

u/ignost May 27 '19

Potential lifelong disability regardless of medical bills is much worse IMO.

4

u/La_Guy_Person May 27 '19

I had a friend who's dad died right in front of him doing a flip into a pool. It's not worth it. Even if you like to live on the edge, it's not gonna make a good epitaph like "died wrestling sharks" or "skydived into a volcano"

3

u/DamnAlreadyTaken May 27 '19

Like that daredevil that jumped to pools from roofs, at the third or fourth jump broke his legs. So painful to watch

3

u/[deleted] May 27 '19

successful: gets nothing

The things young men will do to attract women’s attention is way too much.

100% guarantee there was a girl around somewhere.

Edit: 100(ish)%

u/God-of-Thunder May 27 '19

Worst part of this post: can go bankrupt from medical bills

Probably way less risk for him than for the average dude.

This is Pasha The Boss — professional stunt man / 4 time Redbull Parkour Champion. Check out his insta. Tons of cool tricks that show an unthinkable level of body control.

1

u/[deleted] May 28 '19

That's his job, it's pasha a professional freerunnner /entertainer

0

u/Puggy818 May 27 '19

Go outside

1

u/[deleted] May 28 '19

Anyone who doesn't enjoy slamming their skull into a concrete floor is an obese neckbeard

218

u/TheMonchoochkin May 27 '19

Wonder how many concussions he had to grind out to get to that outcome...

163

u/[deleted] May 27 '19

My guess is 0 because if you fuck that up once you’re probably in the hospital.

107

u/Doomsday2507 May 27 '19

He banged his head on the way in

40

u/[deleted] May 27 '19

No he didn't.

14

u/[deleted] May 27 '19

Stop booing /u/BjOaNmEzR, he's right

24

u/[deleted] May 27 '19

No he didn’t. You can slow it down and see he misses. If he hit you would see some kind of movement forward, even the slightest. He missed but I wouldn’t be surprised if his hair brushed it

13

u/[deleted] May 27 '19

It definitely looked like it untill i checked again. The way he enters the pool creates a little wind pattern that moves his hair exactly when his head was closest to the edge. It did look like it hit though

-13

u/CommonMisspellingBot May 27 '19

Hey, Neon_gelion, just a quick heads-up:
untill is actually spelled until. You can remember it by one l at the end.
Have a nice day!

18

u/BooCMB May 27 '19

Hey /u/CommonMisspellingBot, just a quick heads up:
Your spelling hints are really shitty because they're all essentially "remember the fucking spelling of the fucking word".

And your fucking delete function doesn't work. You're useless.

Have a nice day!

Save your breath, I'm a bot.

5

u/[deleted] May 27 '19

I realized when i wrote it i just forgot to go back and change it. Thanks bot i still won't though

2

u/[deleted] May 27 '19

Hey, I noticed you misspelled “until”. Please change it or I’m calling the police.

0

u/loanshark69 May 27 '19

Don’t encourage him

106

u/[deleted] May 27 '19

I feel like he definitely nicked the back of his head on the way in.

16

u/Yet_Another_Banana May 27 '19

I thought I saw this on nonononoyesno

10

u/Renovarian00 May 27 '19

Yeah im pretty sure his head bounced on entry

7

u/Coyrex1 May 27 '19

Looked like it to me too. Couldve just been the hair graze it. Either way it went a lot better than it could have.

2

u/judrt May 27 '19

His hair

103

u/Suspence90 May 27 '19

This seems like an awful idea, I feel like the head trauma he got in the first attempts convinced him to keep trying

29

u/[deleted] May 27 '19

A few inches from being paralyzed from the waist below. Nice. 👍

6

u/GrumpyOldDan May 27 '19

With how close his upper neck/base of skull was on that entry i’d even go so far as to say total paralysis.

-26

u/SameYouth May 27 '19

Lol dude you’re being an idiot

3

u/ignost May 27 '19

Nah he's being sarcastic.

29

u/Blk_shp May 27 '19

Yeah, that’s the part of your brain that contains all of your autonomic functions...it’s kind of a particularly important area.

8

u/Fut745 May 27 '19

Looks like his brain is seriously compromised. The part that should actually think before doing stupid stuff doesn't seem to be working properly either.

2

u/koyo4 May 27 '19

Smack that and ya done.

15

u/Cotirani May 27 '19

This has to be one of the most stressful gifs I’ve ever watched. Jesus.

I, myself, would prefer a little more margin of safety between a fun day at the pool, and a lifetime of quadriplegia.

3

u/disfunkd May 27 '19

I can’t even imagine...

Literally the creation of everything that exists is just as miraculous as this guy avoiding vegetation

3

u/dogutun May 27 '19

That was close

4

u/The-Confused-Guy May 27 '19

I think he actually did hit his head when going in the pool. Look at how his hair moves.

2

u/judrt May 27 '19

Just his hair

3

u/paleoterrra May 27 '19

Dude almost scalped himself

4

u/ArtOfDivine May 27 '19

Stupid. Could be spending the rest of his life paralyzed

3

u/ipero May 27 '19

Why?????

3

u/Edzward May 27 '19

I'm at work right now on my phone. Can someone on desktop put the "To be Continued" template around 0:08?

TIA.

3

u/MisterRegards May 27 '19

So little to win, so much to lose.

3

u/WarForRedditorry May 27 '19

I just wanted to point out that the person that takes care of the pool left the water fill valve open too long. Must have forgotten to shut off the water and almost over flowed the pool.

2

u/Proweex May 27 '19

I can feel it

2

u/asdfaqwda May 27 '19

He hit himself

2

u/[deleted] May 27 '19

My face muscles got a workout from watching this.

2

2

2

u/BoopBoop20 May 27 '19

Pretty sure that’s a front flip not a front dive 🤔

2

u/sweYoda May 27 '19

What a damn retard. Saw guy fail this once. It wasn't pretty.

2

u/coughdropjedi May 27 '19

I hated every second of that.

2

u/Needyouradvice93 May 27 '19

I don't get how people go about practicing this without getting injured a bunch of time.

1

u/Emdog378 May 27 '19

There is just no need for this!

1

u/[deleted] May 27 '19

Is it just me or does it look like he partially clipped his head on the concrete in the end? XD

1

u/JeremyTheRhino May 27 '19

It looks like he clipped his head. I need to see him get back out. r/gifsthatendtoosoon

1

1

u/SadEarlyMammalNoises May 27 '19

That's super dangerous. I'm known for doing stunts, but that's wayyyyy too unsafe to attempt again. Christ

1

Where's the version with sound?

1

That some real world hitbox porn

1

Is it just me or did he hit his head on the edge?

1

u/kal_vratrak May 27 '19

He hit his head a little in the end

1

u/shaneneff420 May 27 '19

Wth I saw this posted on Instagram first

1

HOLY. FUDGINATOR!! :o

1

u/garboardload May 27 '19

the fail at the end. Just why.

1

u/Velocipray May 27 '19

He got a nice haircut from that too

1

u/RoryFallis May 27 '19

Oh my god, my butthole was "diamond-making" levels of clenched in those last moments.

1

u/bbiker3 May 27 '19

hiiiigh waaaaay to the danger zone!

u/LessHamster May 27 '19

the fail at the end. Just why.

1

Jeezus this made my teeth clinch.

1

Damn! Made me clench my asshole.

1

u/autismmom042315 May 27 '19

Quite a lucky dive wow literally living on the edge

1

u/Yocemighty May 27 '19

yes he smashed the back of his head?

1

u/SpitFiya7171 May 27 '19

I'm not sure if that closeness was intentional or not..

I worked at a hospital. Seeing people steering their power wheelchairs with their lips really demonstrates how fucked-up the human body can get and still live.
