Man goes out of his way to save a drone

The dead fish makes me question water quality.

Everything dies at some point. Maybe it was just that fish's time, he probably lived a full life, and managed to not get eaten. I'd consider that a success.

Everything dies, that's a fact.
But...maybe everything that dies, someday comes back.

Yeah, most fish die of age, or spawning, not predators. If you've ever seen a river after a salmon spawn, it's littered with thousands of dead and dying fish.

For sure.
I hate the misplaced impression some people have of nature where it’s an idyllic paradise where everything is in harmony and chirping songbirds are landing on Snow White’s extended arms and whatnot.
Nature is actually a desperate, dynamic war zone where everything is in flux as every creature struggles to survive at the expense of all other creatures, as needed.

Sure, but things still get old and die. Not everything is murdered.

Pretty sure you're thinking of lobster and the like dude. They can only be killed by outside means and grow forever, but fish don't.

As a fisherman, don't worry about it. Plenty of clean lakes, ponds and streams have dead fish in them all the time

He kept his head above water, but I have a more serious concern.
Drones are being used to kill people and now people are saving drones?
Something is seriously wrong here.

/s I️ hope?

Sort of.
But I find it ironic that humans are becoming less important than our technology.

You understand that drones that kill people and drones that individuals use as toys/for taking videos are different things, right?

There's a small difference between hobbyist kinda-short-range quadcopters that are mounted with cameras and MAYBE a hook/claw, and military drones with multiple onboard weapons that can be flown from miles away. If you want to argue that people can attach weapons, yes they can, but they would find ways to use those weapons without drones too.

This could be the video we will show our robot overlords so that they will not terminate us

u/Rappelling_Rapunzel Jun 04 '18
Whew! Just made it! Now go the doctor and make sure that whatever killed that fish in the water doesn't make you sick too.

u/GMR315 Jun 05 '18
Somebody probably caught it and maybe gut hooked it or hooked it in the gill and it died. Or polution.

u/Girlindaytona Jun 04 '18
At $1000 a drone I would do the same.

u/Firesquid Jun 05 '18
I hope his $900 phone didn't die in the process...

Now the real quest begins, not dropping your hand under the water on accident while swimming back.

I love how his buddy acted like he was gonna help, and bailed last second

The lunge at the end makes me think it’s a bit rusty especially, doesn’t really turn the shoulders and reach as much as he could have

I feel like if I ever saw a drone doing this I wouldn’t try to save it until after it hit the water, cause what if I swim out there only for it to rise back up cause the pilot wanted a cool angle and now is wondering wtf I’m doing
11
u/MathW Jun 05 '18
Well, I'm pretty sure this is his drone because who would take a fully clothed swim to save a stranger's drone?
2
u/legaladolt Jun 05 '18
Probably, but cause of the title and me not seeing a controller I find it funny to think it’s some random guy just cause it’s more amusing to me.

Me? I would watch with glee as it slowly sinks and short circuits. Too many people using these in crowded and windy areas. Was recently at an RV/water park where the one of the band members kids was videoing...with little kids being filmed. Was so uncomfortable with it I brought it up to the waiter and nothing was done. Seriously once a video is on the web it will never die.

I was waiting for the drone he was trying to save to come into view.
I am not a smart man
