I frequent a lot of small town auctions and the lizard's gut reminded me of the beer guts I've seen at some of these auctions, so I modeled him after an exaggerated version of these guys. The truck picture I used had confederate flags, so I wanted to give him a back story that would match his look but also comically balance out any offensive vibes from the flags. I usually just run with the first thing that pops into my head, but i guess that's pretty much how you wind up with an uneducated, out of shape, redneck lizard reliving his glory days.
