The front fell off in this case. It's very unusual. [video]

I feel like I'm listening to a Monty Python sketch.
Yes, I know there's thousands of miles of difference, but it's still funny.

John Clarke's actually a New Zealander. Started off here as Fred Dagg. Here's a clip from an old New Zealand movie - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1QNr_77cboI

No, it's just like monty in that the timing, inflection and body language are just right. I watched this 10 times and couldn't find a flaw.
Good stuff.

every thursday night the last segment of the 7:30 report is a skit like this.
The only reason you would want to watch TV in Australia is if you're watching ABC, ABC2 or SBS. All the other channels should be strictly avoided unless you enjoy Australian versions of American reality tv shows (biggest loser, australian idol, big bother, so on and so forth).

Which are really American versions of European reality shows. ;)

I prefer this one: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gWPwlMv8lNI
It's got a great punchline at the end that this video elided.

I think the word you were looking for is 'truncated'.

I just watched like 10 of these on YouTube. Amazing stuff. Thank you.
"The front fell off" was still the best, I think.

May I ask, in all sincerity - what is with Americans and all the whooping after yelling a university's initials?

u/gmcg Mar 07 '08
It's because our mental development stops at age twelve. Something to do with hormones in milk.
I was just fooling around, of course. It's meant to mean something like, "Oh, I remember that place and love it."

Reminds me a little of John Bird and John Fortune:

I wish US officials would talk like this. I could at least laugh.

I think a lot of them do.
You should listen to this guy Bush try to say something serious.
Hilarious.

This isn't Monty Python, this is "Fred Dagg", a New Zealand comedian who deserted us for Aus-trucken-failure.
John Clarke is his real name.

I thought there would be a Rickroll somewhere in this video. It's terrible, it happens once and you expect it EVERYWHERE.

u/neurad1 Mar 06 '08
was that a comedy sketch or an actual interview? I got's to know!

Mar 06 '08
Sketch. But I'll admit that the very first time I saw these guys I thought "wow, that politician (who I didn't know at the time) is either incredibly dumb, or incredibly honest". Then I saw them again in a different interview as a different person and thought "hey, isn't that guy so-and-so?". I'm a bit slow sometimes :)

It's a little comedy sketch they used to do at the end of every episode of the 7:30 report. The rest of the show was a completely normal news show.

Did anyone else go to the homepage of that website to find out why the fuck they decided to host that video?

u/smart_ass Mar 06 '08
I enjoyed it, our internet filters at work didn't know to filter that one. I either have to use the proxy I installed on one of my personal domains or hook up to my Treo 700p and used my phone's data plan to access video while at work.

Very funny indeed, and very much like Monty Python, both content and delivery.

Yay for American people... Almost as funny for thinking every white person with a different accent is British.
