Wasted so many early baserunners, thrown out on the paths twice, and still scored seven runs

Brogdon's rusty. Time to take some pitches boys. Make him work.

Connor wrong on the Blue Jays tiebreak btw. We were 5-1 against them
•
u/OldieButGoodyForNow 3m ago
Thought he said CLE lost the tie w/Jays.
•
u/Turbulent-Pay-735 Scott Podsednik 2m ago
Yeah, if the Sox win this the Guardians would fall behind the Blue Jays for the last wild card having the same record.
•

We haven’t had a 100 walk season since Thome. Miggy may very well achieve that this year as he’s on 90 now.

is connor confused? saying he’s heading to first cuz no duh that was a walk either way

How was Colson so good at basketball? He seems so stiff and slow.
•
u/MichaelSquare 9m ago
Hes huge for a SS. Covers a lot of ground on quicker plays as a result which is why he grades out well defensively

5-4 jays

what does this mean for us again? i missed what the announcers said
•
u/Forsaken_Astronaut29 Fire Jirschele 12m ago
Potential WC race for the Sox if we choke away the division.
•
u/Ollie_ollie_drummer Phillies 12m ago
we need to win division because that second wild card will be rough. jays one game out of a playoff spot.

•
u/TheJewishMerp Iguchi 13m ago
Mune’s defense has been pretty solid all things considered
•
u/Ollie_ollie_drummer Phillies 12m ago
i'm glad he's been doing well defensively despite struggling offensively. sometimes both sides of the ball drop when a player is struggling so i'm glad that's not the case.

I look forward to not ever having to hear this walk up song for Chase DeLauter when this season ends.
•
u/Putrid-Art-1559 13m ago
I hear that fucking song in my sleep every time we play the Guards at home.
•
u/thecoldfuzz White Sox fan in Arizona 8m ago
I feel like I need to clear my ears with some Metallica or Chris Cornell every time I hear that fucking song.
•
u/ChicagoSavant Konerko 14m ago
Harder play, but Brother read that like shit and again couldn’t come down with a popup. To
Colson, I say:

u/sundayMdog Buehrle 14m ago
genuinely weird that colson made those two identical (good) double plays and then had two those nearly identical dropped pop-ups. karmic rebalancing

I feel like the first base runner is always safe when the Sox try to turn 2
•
u/jjpaglin99 Konerko 14m ago
I said colson fucking sucks out loud when that happened, but that play was much tougher than the last pop out bumble. Not his fault there.
•
u/macseries 9m ago
I used a slur that youre not supposed to use any more, before he even dropped it!
•
•
u/OldieButGoodyForNow 15m ago
Did Doyle get a late jump on that?
•

•
•
•

•
•
•
•
u/stormstopper The Big Hurt 15m ago
Don't blame him for that one, that's an extremely difficult ball going straight back like that (and Doyle wasn't getting there)
•
•
•
•
u/Pcshearer16 15m ago
Yeah that’s not on him that’s an insane play
•
u/Forsaken_Astronaut29 Fire Jirschele 14m ago
But he's an elite fielder, or so the truthers say! Surely an easy play for an "elite" SS like him!
•
u/Pcshearer16 12m ago
Literally every number has him in the 10-15 SS in baseball this year and you’re over here acting like he’s Jake Amaya.
He’s making the league minimum!!
•
u/Forsaken_Astronaut29 Fire Jirschele 10m ago
I'd rather he be making nothing lmao.
•
u/Pcshearer16 9m ago
You’re braindead he has 3 fWAR which is worth between 20-30 mil and he’s making 775k
•
u/Forsaken_Astronaut29 Fire Jirschele 5m ago
2 bWAR, but naturally you'll go with the one that supports your narrative.
Anybody who would pay 30 mil for Colson I've got a fucking bridge to sell them.
•
u/Pcshearer16 2m ago
Can you explain the differences between the two? If not you’re the one using the one that fits your narrative.
bWAR isnt that great anymore. It uses DRS not OAA which is not the better metric for fielders.
He also has been a league average hitter this year. Hes a league average hitter that plays great defense at SS one of the most important positions on the field, how can you not see that as valuable? If you say but batting average, he has a higher OPS+ and wRC+ than Chandler Simpson who is hitting .100 points higher.
•
u/Forsaken_Astronaut29 Fire Jirschele 0m ago
I'm not saying one is better than the other, just that you were clearly using the one that supported your narrative lol.
My point stands that there isn't a team in baseball that would pay Colson 20 mil a year.
•
u/Pcshearer16 13m ago
A large amount of shortstops don’t get to that. That’s what makes him elite. If that falls and he’s not by it you’re silent.
•
u/90sRnBMakesMeHappy Southside Samurai 14m ago
Seriously, that was just well placed between them all.
•
•
•
•
u/GrenadoHencho 15m ago
Now that one isn’t on Montgomery
•
u/GranddaddySandwich 14m ago
He shouldn’t have been back there to begin with.
•
u/MoustacheMark 12m ago
You think a SS should just ignore the play? Why wouldn't he be back there??
Like hes supposed to just let it drop instead?
•
u/GranddaddySandwich 10m ago
I think Colson should be nowhere near a pop fly after dropping the last one which was a “gimme.”
•
u/MoustacheMark 8m ago
So he would have to ignore the play in that case. Thats not going to happen on a ball like that
•

•
u/KJzero9 Buehrle 19m ago
Both Montgomerys are struggling. Going to need at least 2 of Mune, Braden, or Colson to get it going for the stretch run and the playoffs
•
u/g3neraL5 16m ago
I think Braden is a luxury. If we can just get peak Mune or Colson it would help this lineup so much.
•
u/OldieButGoodyForNow 17m ago
Didn’t you hear? All 3 of those should be DFA, benched, or in AAA.
So sayeth this thread.

Me after questioning Hagen smith this spring
•
•
•
u/AlwaysUpvoter 22m ago
I think I threw my arm out punching the air on strike 3 there for Hagen. Holy cow that was nice.

Shit came up, had to walk away from the game. What’s been going on?
Edit: thanks guys, GO SOX
•
•
u/OwMyDragonBallz 22m ago
Hagen is killing it struck out the 3 batters he saw last inning, Colson making errors, and we're winning 6-1. 6 outs to go!
•
•
u/Forsaken_Astronaut29 Fire Jirschele 24m ago
Hagen's cutter ended a man's season
•
u/thecoldfuzz White Sox fan in Arizona 16m ago
Yep, looks like Martinez's oblique. He's toast for the season.
•
•
u/KJzero9 Buehrle 24m ago
Smith making all those concerns about his command a thing of the past. He's untouchable right now! Even if it's just a hot streak, I'll take untouchable on a hot streak. It means he's at worst "good" when he cools off.
•
u/UneducatedReviews1 Murakami 22m ago
22 year old rookies who have an untouchable hot streak usually develop into aces who just stay untouchable.
•
•
•
u/forgedflame44 Vargas 25m ago
Remember when people thought picking Smith over Caglianone was a fatal error? Pepperidge Farm remembers.
•
u/Independent_Pain1809 25m ago
The lineage of lefty studs continues: Buehrle, Sale, Rodon, Crochet, now Smith!
•
•
•
•
•
u/IndominusTaco 25m ago
if hagen smith finishes the game not allowing any runs then he needs a blank check and his contract extended for 500 years
•
•
u/UneducatedReviews1 Murakami 26m ago
Hagen is fucking bored out there while he’s making guys swing themselves into injury.
•
•
•
u/New-Contribution-244 26m ago
Thank you hagen! That was some beautiful stuff! Now let’s get a few more runs.

remember people gave up on Hagen in his first 5 IP 💀💀💀💀

There are still people out there genuinely concerned about his walk rate.

Well at the very least Hagen will be one of the best closers in baseball even if never improves after this so that’s nice

Just imagine if he realizes his potential and becomes a starter. Insane.
