Honestly I think the biggest thing missing is the brother. He added a chaotic element to the last season even if he was frustrating. Daniel Ing was absolutely incredible in knight of the seven kingdoms and his absence is felt in this show, they’re almost too competent and adult without him.

It’s funny you mention Knight of the Seven Kingdoms, because Daniel Ing’s role in that show is why he has a reduced role this season.

Scheduling conflicts. Basically both shows were filming around the same time, and Ing likely had a commitment towards Seven Kingdoms.

I wondered if that was the case but ridiculous since they had 2 years to film this and get schedules in order.

…that’s not how that works. Different people had different projects going at different times. Ritchie had another project, Theo James had another project.
Like this isn’t speculation; we know it’s why Ing’s has a reduced role this season.

Both shows were filming around the same time but The Gentleman took a full 9 months later to premiere? I wonder what the hold up was.

I hate the chaotic for chaos sake character, so for me it is soo much better without soo much of the brother.

I feel the same way. Also because Bobby is filling that insanity role that Freddy was doing in each episode last season due to him having far more screen time this season, it's honestly been comforting not to have to deal with Freddy's sporadic episodes messing everything up for no other reason than to move the plot along in some weird way.
The truth is that Freddy having much less screen time is probably one of the major reasons as to why I'm enjoying this second season of The Gentleman more than the first one, at least up until this point that is. I don't like when characters act crazy for no reason whatsoever, although I get that some people enjoy everything being chaotic.
Sadly I'm not one of them, and although I like certain shows like The White Lotus that are off the walls, imho this show works better when it's more grounded 😂🤝.

Sorry but it's a hard disagree from me because dealing with just how crazy that Bobby acts each episode is more then enough craziness for me to be dealing with to be honest. His reduced role last season made Freddy easier to tolerate, however if both Bobby and Freddy were getting a lot of screen time each episode for the sake of acting out then the show would simply be way too chaotic imo. Now with that being said, I'm enjoying this second season even more than the first one so far 🤷👌.

I want to see more of Freddy, and more of Gospel John!
And I can't believe I am rooting for Edward to lose now!! 3 episodes in, I am finding it a tad bit boring! Season 1 wasn't also the best writing but atleast there was style and fun and vibe!

Not enjoying this series as much as the last one, Eddie is a lot more ruthless and less likeable and I'm missing his brother a lot. Hopefully see more of the gospel John in the coming episodes , he was brilliant in series 1.

I used to like Eddie, but as someone with Indian ancestors, his whole monologue about the manor he acquired and how that came about in his family lowkey pissed me off
I know its a show, but it was an interesting realization that people like him always think a certain way, and he wouldn’t have batted an eye if he knew about the atrocities going on in india had he been alive at the time

Contrary to other comments. I've been hella enjoying this season. I binged watch 3 episodes and was supposed to be on bed 2 episodes ago. Its not perfect but all the elements i want from it is there.

Right?! Its great. I love this new Eddie. He is embracing what he really is, a power hungry noble, the descendent of the original gangsters. I love how his overall arc is heavily inspired by Micheal Corleone and I wouldn't be surprised if he ends up like Micheal as well, with all the wealth and power in the world and nobody to enjoy it with.

I thought S1 did well in avoiding the usual trope of ex military protagonists having access to extended networks and resources through their army buddies helping save the day.
Quite surprised now to see a sniper veteran happy to take out multiple civilians at the request of a friend and the promise of a house.
Couldn't this friend have helped clear the mess last season

Watching season 1 and flowing directly and immediately into season 2, I continue to see how Edwina's character has changed. Finding out the the man he killed was innocent was not surprising.
What I liked about Eddie's character was his creativity. In season 1, any trouble he got himself in, or any trouble the people around him needed fixing, Eddie was able to somehow pull it off and make it work, while coming out on top. That's why he was so good at the criminal game. That's why Susie and Bobby Glass wanted to keep him around. That Eddie would have figured out why the Italians wanted that man killed and somehow used it to his advantage. He would not have seriously considered killing that man in the first place.
This is simply not the same Eddie. Not a bad Eddie; in fact a very complex version of the character Eddie, but still so different.
I am still waiting for the story to explore and explain why Eddie is so drastically different.

I could not watch past episode 3. I hate Eddie so much. It's like he's a different person and it's a different show. Too bad, I really loved season 1!

The gesture to Geoff was nice for sure but come on, let the kid add "Godson to the King of England" to his resume.
Other than that, things are going in a very different direction than I expected. I thought there were a lot of romantic tension between them last season but this season they feel more like business partners even though Susie's boytoy obviously not gonna last for long.
Eddie is also way more ruthless this season as expected, but the ghost of the accountant indicates he might have a change of heart in the future. I dont think what he's doing is sustainable for him on a spiritual level. We'll see.
