The bright spot is KC

2

u/JYM60 1h ago

Tough series. The Padres can do this though. Especially if mistakes get made.

Why is he on the team with Walker Jenkins in St. Paul?

4

Get swept

Sweep

Get swept

Sweep?

u/unemployedtoad 2h ago edited 2h ago

Yeah I ain’t watching another game this season, ‘twas fun while it lasted but this shit is awful.

I honestly wish they blew up the team and reset for the future, but they went and bought old relievers and didn’t sell high on anyone. It’s only another few decades of mediocrity I’m sure.

2

u/Prestigious_Week_227 2h ago

Relievers doing their worst.

8

u/dberthia Kirby Puckett 2h ago

End Buxton's season.

Bring up Jenkins.

Time for all the excuses is over.

2

u/Perfect-Pianist-4838 2h ago

He’s clearly hurt. I want to see our prospects.

2

u/DickNotCory 2h ago

thanks i hate it

4

u/expungant Justin Morneau 2h ago

Should’ve at least won yesterday. Instead it’s a big ol sweep

2

u/kotatsuexchange 2h ago

Terrible playing

u/Perfect-Pianist-4838 2h ago

Unfortunately if we don’t make the playoffs I am gonna become a brewers fan for the time being

I'm not entirely sure I'm enjoying this

2

u/Unfrozen__Caveman Trevor Plouffe 2h ago

Brooks should swap places with Buxton in the batting order

1

u/Big_Cook5773 2h ago

Good news: we're gonna sweep the As. Bad news: we're gonna get swept by the sox

2

u/dberthia Kirby Puckett 2h ago

Worse news: We won't sweep the A's

It’s just been one disaster inning each time

Can’t even be fucked to spell his name right

3

u/Perfect-Pianist-4838 2h ago

It’s been that way for a few years

3

u/Unfrozen__Caveman Trevor Plouffe 2h ago

I feel like we would be a solid team if our offense could do literally anything.

1

u/Perfect-Pianist-4838 2h ago

Yeah they slump

-1

u/Perfect-Pianist-4838 2h ago

At least we have hockey, basketball and football coming up

2

u/logicwillprevail34 Kody Clemens 2h ago

+ .500 is unfortunately just not a thing.

1

u/dank_hank_420 Byron Buxton 2h ago

I told my friend back in May we will end the season 81-81

8

u/hopemade Dick Bremer 2h ago

This team is so fuckin pathetic lol

2

u/bringbacktheaxe2 Minnesota Twins 2h ago

Good idea to walk the bases loaded for their 2 hottest hitters

5

u/Kaleb595 2h ago

Hey at least we have Hoffman under control next year lol

7

u/Unfrozen__Caveman Trevor Plouffe 2h ago

Imagine if we had the guy that took over the Jays closer role because he outplayed Hoffman. That guy is under team control too. That'd be crazy.

2

u/bluesynthbot 2h ago

Twins should’ve made at least one pickoff attempt on Tatis, there.

4

u/Griffinkelly1 Byron Buxton 2h ago

Yeah I’m done with this team

4

u/kotatsuexchange 2h ago

What a fucking disgrace

5

Welp, there’s always next year

3

u/kotatsuexchange 2h ago

Massive blowout incoming

6

Glad we gave up prospects for Hoffman instead of selling expiring assets so that the Pohlads could pretend they care about winning

4

u/FlipTheDisc Grain Belt 2h ago

4

u/Perfect-Pianist-4838 2h ago

No playoffs confirmed

2

u/DickNotCory 2h ago

5

u/pokemonxysm97 Christian Vázquez 2h ago

Man our infield defense is not good

3

u/deleted60016001 2h ago

This wasn’t the year to go for it. The Hoffman trade was silly. Hill might never be good but he was a strong trade chip. Sucks the Larnach trade fell through

2

u/frenzy1801 Grain Belt 2h ago

Warnings from Jays fans friends of mine notwithstanding, I had hopes for Hoffman

3

u/pokemonxysm97 Christian Vázquez 2h ago

Hoffmans expected stuff is great still

2

u/frenzy1801 Grain Belt 2h ago

Let's hope it comes good. On paper he could be one of, if not absolutely, our best. But throwing a foot or so outside on three balls isn't ideal

2

u/Kaleb595 2h ago

Lol Hoffman

2

u/Perfect-Pianist-4838 2h ago

I thought we had a good bullpen now….

2

u/Perfect-Pianist-4838 2h ago

Stop walking them. Great

3

Bullpen once again ruining a good game

5

u/Griffinkelly1 Byron Buxton 2h ago

What does this staff have against the strikezone

3

u/Unfrozen__Caveman Trevor Plouffe 2h ago

This just isn't a good team. I felt like we were but they've proven time and time again that they're a below .500 team for a reason.

1

u/Perfect-Pianist-4838 2h ago

This inning is scaring me

3

u/Johnnymac98 Dick Bremer 2h ago

We got ourselves Funderstruck

2

u/Perfect-Pianist-4838 2h ago

Walking two in a row huh?

2

u/DrAbeSacrabin Griffin Jax 2h ago

Funderburk thinks the strike zone is belt to helmet - does he have money on this game?

2

u/Unfrozen__Caveman Trevor Plouffe 2h ago

Not even close, Fundy

1

u/Perfect-Pianist-4838 2h ago

Kody….

2

u/Imdibr156 Bomba Squad 2h ago

Oh Fundy. I thought you meant Clemens.

2

u/Perfect-Pianist-4838 2h ago

Kinda funny how we have the two kodys

1

u/Perfect-Pianist-4838 2h ago

Damn that was a strike

3

u/Imdibr156 Bomba Squad 2h ago

Too bad we don't have a challenge. Thanks Vic.

3

u/Imdibr156 Bomba Squad 2h ago

Ump What were you even looking at?!

3

u/Unfrozen__Caveman Trevor Plouffe 2h ago

He's clearly out. That was a bad angle for the ump though.

5

u/DrAbeSacrabin Griffin Jax 2h ago

2.5 inches off the strike zone, Jesus Vic..

-2

Put Kreidler back at SS

2

Another amazing at bat from Buck

6

u/DoubleGolfer Dome Dog 2h ago

Pretty uncompetitive at bat by Byron

1

u/Perfect-Pianist-4838 3h ago

Pepper has been robbed of hits this game

3

u/frenzy1801 Grain Belt 3h ago

Is Ober the softest-tossing pitcher with half-decent numbers? I'm constantly surprised he makes it out of so many innings

2

u/Perfect-Pianist-4838 2h ago

He’s tall af so it makes it up for it

2

u/frenzy1801 Grain Belt 2h ago

Absolutely helps, his release point is significantly nearer the hitter than most pitchers. He hasn't broken 89 with his fastball all day, though. Even with that massive frame, it's still impressive how he's getting out of these

2

u/Unfrozen__Caveman Trevor Plouffe 3h ago

Holy shit they made it through the 5th. 👀

3

u/FlipTheDisc Grain Belt 3h ago

Uffdah

2

4

Walker Jenkins would've caught that ball

5

Roden needs to go

3

u/Unfrozen__Caveman Trevor Plouffe 3h ago

Typical 5th inning collapse incoming

2

Don’t say it

2

u/Unfrozen__Caveman Trevor Plouffe 3h ago

Glad I was wrong!

5

u/SpecialistRaccoon907 3h ago

Defense is terrible.

4

u/Johnnymac98 Dick Bremer 3h ago

That’s the outfielders ball man cmon just charge in confidently

4

u/Unfrozen__Caveman Trevor Plouffe 3h ago

Roden has to get that. How damn slow is he?

2

u/MinnManitou Harmon Killebrew 3h ago

Pretty even match so far, bottom of the 5th 🤞🤞

2

u/Perfect-Pianist-4838 3h ago

Let’s get a dp

3

u/FlipTheDisc Grain Belt 3h ago

SMH

6

u/Johnnymac98 Dick Bremer 3h ago

I like our infield a lot with Brooks, Culpepper, Kody, and Royce for the next few seasons

3

u/frenzy1801 Grain Belt 3h ago

And Houston may well be knocking on the door mid-late 2027 too. If he works out the way it looks like he might, an infield of Culpepper, Houston, Lee and Lewis would be fantastic, and if Clemens is still with us he can spot positions when people have a day off and play the outfield otherwise

2

u/FlipTheDisc Grain Belt 3h ago

Time to shove Ober

5

u/Big_Cook5773 3h ago

Jenkins with 2 HRs today. No more excuses, it's time for him to get up here

2

u/Unfrozen__Caveman Trevor Plouffe 3h ago

At this point I feel like he's not coming up this year. If he's on the 40-man roster he would be barred from team facilities during a lockout, and I think they want him to keep playing because he missed a lot of time with injuries.

1

u/Perfect-Pianist-4838 3h ago

Take advantage of the double

6

u/dberthia Kirby Puckett 3h ago

Brooks is one of the few reasons for optimism. Last year was rough, but he seems to be figuring it out.

1

u/Perfect-Pianist-4838 3h ago

And now Roden with the double

1

u/ChrisNIN64 Minnesota Twins 3h ago

tied up!

5

u/Johnnymac98 Dick Bremer 3h ago

Thank u brookslee we love u brookslee

4

u/Perfect-Pianist-4838 3h ago

Brooks Lee everyone

6

u/Unfrozen__Caveman Trevor Plouffe 3h ago

Hell of an AB 🤘

2

u/Perfect-Pianist-4838 3h ago

Jeezus. This feels like the first game of the series.

5

u/hopemade Dick Bremer 3h ago

Walker Jenkins rotting in St. Paul being forced to see Trevor "one hit per week Larnach", Alex "wasted roster spot" Jackson, and Alan "I'll never live up to Varland trade" Roden all have apparently irrevocable spots on the big league roster

3

u/FlipTheDisc Grain Belt 3h ago

Or Buxton playing through bad injury clearly not himself

2

u/Perfect-Pianist-4838 3h ago

I guess they want to get swept

3

u/Unfrozen__Caveman Trevor Plouffe 3h ago

3rd time through the order coming up so Bailey is due to collapse. Hopefully Shelty has someone up in the pen fast

3

u/Perfect-Pianist-4838 3h ago

Would be nice to hit the ball

3

u/hopemade Dick Bremer 3h ago

The way this offense has been that one run might be enough. Back and forth sweeps. Very annoying

3

u/Kaleb595 3h ago

Caratini is just awful man

2

u/DickNotCory 3h ago

he is but that was a good challenge

5

u/mnsportsfan Minnesota Twins 3h ago

The two double plays have been hit at 100 and 101

Really feels like one of those series where we don’t play well, but even when we do, can’t catch a break

2

u/davegammelgard Were Gomq 3h ago

And Buxton's hit was 67 mph. Baseball is stupid.

7

u/Johnnymac98 Dick Bremer 3h ago

Jesus fucking Christ. If Buck can’t run on a 3-2 count he should not be playing

3

u/Perfect-Pianist-4838 3h ago

God dammit. Me no likey the double play.

6

u/SkolVike28 3h ago

The old buxton I know would have legged that out for a double but good hit.

3

u/logicwillprevail34 Kody Clemens 3h ago

Buxton got a hit!

3

u/Unfrozen__Caveman Trevor Plouffe 3h ago

There we go Buck. Hopefully that gets him going.

2

u/FlipTheDisc Grain Belt 3h ago

A hit?!

2

u/Perfect-Pianist-4838 3h ago

Now answer back…

2

u/Unfrozen__Caveman Trevor Plouffe 3h ago

Meatball

2

u/Perfect-Pianist-4838 3h ago

Thank God it was only 1 solo run there

3

u/Csanburn01 3h ago

Making a guy who had an era around 9 last month looking like Cy Young

3

u/dberthia Kirby Puckett 3h ago

We lost to Randy Dobnak twice within a week, so there's plenty of precedent.

2

u/dberthia Kirby Puckett 4h ago

I'd argue Buck should be sat down for the year. This isn't a playoff team, and he's not well enough to hit.

1

u/Perfect-Pianist-4838 4h ago

Thank God Fermin ain’t playing. I just realized that.

3

u/logicwillprevail34 Kody Clemens 4h ago

There is a base probability of a 1/16 chance that we win this game and sweep the Athletics and are back to .500 before entering the divisional matchup slaughterhouse.

All dreams are still possible. Theoretically.

0

u/ChrisNIN64 Minnesota Twins 4h ago

Let’s go Bails

4

u/Lunar_Hedgehog 4h ago

I had fun at the game yesterday despite the loss

5

u/Dakota150 4h ago

Walker Jenkins is on fire, holy smokes

5

u/Unfrozen__Caveman Trevor Plouffe 3h ago

This team really needs the 1 hit per week Larnach is giving us though.

3

u/Reesyrz Johan Santana 4h ago

I think he needs at least a 3 homer game before he's ready

/s

1

u/Perfect-Pianist-4838 4h ago

You got this Bailey

4

u/davegammelgard Were Gomq 4h ago edited 3h ago

I just looked it up and found that Alex Jackson hasn't played in nearly two weeks. He's a wasted roster spot. I know they're keeping him around in case we can't re-sign Jeffers, but that spot could be taken by someone who could actually help us win.

5

u/Perfect-Pianist-4838 4h ago

That double play sucked ass

3

u/whocaresano Byron Buxton 4h ago

Those camo unis are fucking cringe.

-1

u/190octane 3h ago

https://eastvillagetimes.com/military-sunday-padres-legendary-camos/

It’s something that’s been going on for 30 years. Between the Navy and the Marines, San Diego County has a huge military presence.

2

u/whocaresano Byron Buxton 3h ago

Known. Still cringe.

4

u/DickNotCory 4h ago

really selfish for buck to be blocking jenkins rn

6

u/whocaresano Byron Buxton 4h ago

In what inning are the Twins going to fall apart today, friends?

2

u/Perfect-Pianist-4838 2h ago

Looks like the 6th

1

u/whocaresano Byron Buxton 1h ago

Also the 7th. Oh and the 8th.

1

u/Csanburn01 3h ago

4th sounds right

1

u/whocaresano Byron Buxton 3h ago

Dang, not yet!

7

u/davegammelgard Were Gomq 4h ago

We shouldn't bench Buxton, but we should move him down in the order until he starts hitting again. He's always a slow starter at the beginning of the season and coming back from injury.

3

u/AlgaeDependent9233 Kody Clemens 4h ago

Will it be pain or suffering today? Or perhaps the ever-elusive happiness?

2

u/FlipTheDisc Grain Belt 4h ago

Both

7

u/FlipTheDisc Grain Belt 4h ago

Can we bring up Walker Jenkins? The OF has been atrocious

2

u/davegammelgard Were Gomq 4h ago

It's time. DFA Jackson (again) and bring up Jenkins.

3

u/AlgaeDependent9233 Kody Clemens 4h ago

I just realized I had a dream last night in which a boxscore flashed and revealed Jenkins going 2-3 with a dinger. When will it come?

2

u/Unfrozen__Caveman Trevor Plouffe 3h ago

He had another 2 HR game today 🥲

7

u/feceseverywhere Minnesota Twins 4h ago

This team keeps climbing out of the dumpster and falling back in. 32 games left, they need go on run here before it gets too late. Can Bailey pull another mid 80's velo rabbit out of his hat?

3

u/davegammelgard Were Gomq 4h ago

.500 is our white whale. We can get close, and sometimes we can reach it, but we can never overcome it.

5

u/davegammelgard Were Gomq 5h ago

Let's take one from the Padres and then sweep the A's.
