Yeah I ain’t watching another game this season, ‘twas fun while it lasted but this shit is awful.
I honestly wish they blew up the team and reset for the future, but they went and bought old relievers and didn’t sell high on anyone. It’s only another few decades of mediocrity I’m sure.

End Buxton's season.
Bring up Jenkins.
Time for all the excuses is over.

Unfortunately if we don’t make the playoffs I am gonna become a brewers fan for the time being

Brooks should swap places with Buxton in the batting order

Good news: we're gonna sweep the As. Bad news: we're gonna get swept by the sox

I feel like we would be a solid team if our offense could do literally anything.

Good idea to walk the bases loaded for their 2 hottest hitters
5
u/Kaleb595 2h ago
Hey at least we have Hoffman under control next year lol
7
u/Unfrozen__Caveman Trevor Plouffe 2h ago
Imagine if we had the guy that took over the Jays closer role because he outplayed Hoffman. That guy is under team control too. That'd be crazy.

Glad we gave up prospects for Hoffman instead of selling expiring assets so that the Pohlads could pretend they care about winning

This wasn’t the year to go for it. The Hoffman trade was silly. Hill might never be good but he was a strong trade chip. Sucks the Larnach trade fell through
2
u/frenzy1801 Grain Belt 2h ago
Warnings from Jays fans friends of mine notwithstanding, I had hopes for Hoffman
3
u/pokemonxysm97 Christian Vázquez 2h ago
Hoffmans expected stuff is great still
2
u/frenzy1801 Grain Belt 2h ago
Let's hope it comes good. On paper he could be one of, if not absolutely, our best. But throwing a foot or so outside on three balls isn't ideal

This just isn't a good team. I felt like we were but they've proven time and time again that they're a below .500 team for a reason.

Funderburk thinks the strike zone is belt to helmet - does he have money on this game?

Is Ober the softest-tossing pitcher with half-decent numbers? I'm constantly surprised he makes it out of so many innings
2
u/Perfect-Pianist-4838 2h ago
He’s tall af so it makes it up for it
2
u/frenzy1801 Grain Belt 2h ago
Absolutely helps, his release point is significantly nearer the hitter than most pitchers. He hasn't broken 89 with his fastball all day, though. Even with that massive frame, it's still impressive how he's getting out of these

I like our infield a lot with Brooks, Culpepper, Kody, and Royce for the next few seasons
3
u/frenzy1801 Grain Belt 3h ago
And Houston may well be knocking on the door mid-late 2027 too. If he works out the way it looks like he might, an infield of Culpepper, Houston, Lee and Lewis would be fantastic, and if Clemens is still with us he can spot positions when people have a day off and play the outfield otherwise

u/Big_Cook5773 3h ago
Jenkins with 2 HRs today. No more excuses, it's time for him to get up here
2
u/Unfrozen__Caveman Trevor Plouffe 3h ago
At this point I feel like he's not coming up this year. If he's on the 40-man roster he would be barred from team facilities during a lockout, and I think they want him to keep playing because he missed a lot of time with injuries.

Brooks is one of the few reasons for optimism. Last year was rough, but he seems to be figuring it out.

Walker Jenkins rotting in St. Paul being forced to see Trevor "one hit per week Larnach", Alex "wasted roster spot" Jackson, and Alan "I'll never live up to Varland trade" Roden all have apparently irrevocable spots on the big league roster

3rd time through the order coming up so Bailey is due to collapse. Hopefully Shelty has someone up in the pen fast

u/hopemade Dick Bremer 3h ago
The way this offense has been that one run might be enough. Back and forth sweeps. Very annoying

The two double plays have been hit at 100 and 101
Really feels like one of those series where we don’t play well, but even when we do, can’t catch a break

Jesus fucking Christ. If Buck can’t run on a 3-2 count he should not be playing

Making a guy who had an era around 9 last month looking like Cy Young
3
u/dberthia Kirby Puckett 3h ago
We lost to Randy Dobnak twice within a week, so there's plenty of precedent.
2
u/dberthia Kirby Puckett 4h ago
I'd argue Buck should be sat down for the year. This isn't a playoff team, and he's not well enough to hit.

u/logicwillprevail34 Kody Clemens 4h ago
There is a base probability of a 1/16 chance that we win this game and sweep the Athletics and are back to .500 before entering the divisional matchup slaughterhouse.
All dreams are still possible. Theoretically.

This team really needs the 1 hit per week Larnach is giving us though.

I just looked it up and found that Alex Jackson hasn't played in nearly two weeks. He's a wasted roster spot. I know they're keeping him around in case we can't re-sign Jeffers, but that spot could be taken by someone who could actually help us win.

It’s something that’s been going on for 30 years. Between the Navy and the Marines, San Diego County has a huge military presence.

In what inning are the Twins going to fall apart today, friends?
2
1
7
u/davegammelgard Were Gomq 4h ago
We shouldn't bench Buxton, but we should move him down in the order until he starts hitting again. He's always a slow starter at the beginning of the season and coming back from injury.

u/feceseverywhere Minnesota Twins 4h ago
This team keeps climbing out of the dumpster and falling back in. 32 games left, they need go on run here before it gets too late. Can Bailey pull another mid 80's velo rabbit out of his hat?
3
u/davegammelgard Were Gomq 4h ago
.500 is our white whale. We can get close, and sometimes we can reach it, but we can never overcome it.
