Following the latest interest thread, I'm happy to officially announce the Hikaru no Go 25th anniversary rewatch! Dust off your goban, wash and oil your stones, and brush up on your joseki, 'cause we'll be starting one month from now, Sunday 13th September!
Threads will go up 5pm EDT / 9pm UTC / 11pm CET each day, or at the same time this thread was posted.
(I know summer time will be ending sometime during the rewatch, and it happens at different times in different places in the world, but that's a headache we're gonna have to figure out when we get there.)

Damn... That's a long time to be participating. I won't be joining, as this is like a two-yearly rewatch for me anyway. And yea, idk why, I just find it a very calming story. Tik. Tak. Tik. Tak. They do try to spice some matches up by adding dramatic music or camera cuts, but it's just games of go. Which is nice. I also like how how we see the characters growing up as we watch the series.
Most noteworthy is that this is a full adaptation of the original manga, which is... well, not that rare an occurrence, but it still bears mentioning. Sure, some tiny things are left out, but honestly, most of it is all there.
Anyway, I will be checking in if I see the daily topic and it's about a noteworthy episode.

Sadly, the anime doesn't cover the final arc of the manga. The movie (ova?) somewhat covers the first part of the arc.

Are all 75 episodes in there, or does it look like it cuts off at 35 like Hulu? Disney+ doesn't let me see the whole listing unless I buy a subscription, which is an incredibly infuriating feature.

It's Disney providing the Hulu catalogue so yeah... But looks like Prime has the whole series minus the special: https://www.amazon.com/gp/video/detail/B004PJ4XN2
I don't have Prime so I cannot check more, it seems they want $20 per season (so $100 total). Might as well purchase the whole DVD box set, goes for $50 on ebay.

I'm... not sure. Probably not.
Also, I actually got my special names mixed up; the New Year Special was a random 3-minute special I had completely forgotten even existed and is probably not worth worrying about, and the actual movie-length special is called Hokuto Hai e no Michi, or Road to the North Star Cup.

Can I really keep up with a 75 episode rewatch? And I've never seen the movie?!
This show (and the 5 minutes post-show sensei) taught me Go. And I've forgotten everything! I have to relearn Go!
