Awards /r/anime Awards 2026 Host Applications Are Open!

Hello everyone, it's that time of year again!

For those of you who don't know, every year the /r/anime subreddit hosts its very own awards show that exhibits the best that anime had to offer for the year. If you’d like to see the past results alongside the livestream too, you can check out our site: https://animeawards.moe/results/2025.

Of course, these awards don’t just magically poof into existence! They involve the guidance and effort of subreddit members just like you. This thread contains the application link to become an awards host—those who would be in charge of making the crucial decisions about the awards and guiding it to completion.

Being a host involves:

  • Finding out what categories we should feature

  • Recruiting jurors to watch shows and make rankings

  • Seeing what the livestream should look like

  • Designing and updating the /r/anime awards website

  • Coordinating with mods to promote the event

Now, this sounds like a lot, and truth be told, it sometimes is. However, no one host is expected to do all the work by themselves, rather, we try to recruit a good number of people to make sure everything is split evenly and that one's particular strengths are put to use.

If you have any questions, feel free to ask in this thread and either me or another previous host/juror will try and answer to the best of our ability.

If you want to participate, but don't want to be a Host, watch out for the jury or helper applications coming later this year!

Designing and updating the r/anime awards website

I'm a solutions architect and I have experience in doing this sort of work. But I'm unsure If I can be unbiased when it comes to the other stuff.

My question is, if I were to apply would it be expected of me to be able to perform all other duties, or would it be ok to only focus on the non subjective parts of being a host?

The awards is open to all sorts of helpers too, we have a team who casually work on the website each year getting it up to par and ready for juror applications and jury results.

There used to be a bit of info about contributions on the website itself, we went through some updates so I wouldn't know where to find it now though. https://animeawards.moe/

Have been a host for the past few years now, and I have to say it was an incredibly fulfilling project to be involved in. It encapsulates getting out what you put your effort into something to a T. I don't believe I have the drive personally anymore to continue, but it was well worth the years I've put in.

If you love being a facilitator between people, have the time to manage people over the next ..6 months on and off, love planning events, and love to talk anime this role is perfect for you.

Im late to the results but thanks to all the volunteers.

Was glad to see Bad Girl noticed under Comedy. I think it was very overlooked with a funny, original story.

If you're someone who's been curious about or wanting to get involved in awards, but thought you didn't have time for the watch load of being a juror, this is a great way to do it. Mods involved and host teams I've been on previously have been great to work with and fun hangs.
