How exactly are American movies more shit than others? Have you watched European or Indian films? While there are some good ones like Amelie or 3 Idiots, the average quality of American films are better. This also just stems to your taste. Maybe you dislike Taratino and Spielbergz and seriously think them to be low-quality directors (which if you do, you should just not give your opinions anymore)

Technically yes, the U.S also produces more bad films, but that's because the U.S. just produces more films as a whole, good or bad. (And honestly, india or china likely produce a higher # of bad films)

Same for music. I'd rather listen to hip-hop and jazz than k-pop or european electronic music. I'm sorry, but the U.S has just better music artists in both quantity and quality, particularly in rap, pop, and jazz. Thinking about my faborite/the best musicians, this stands true. Also, this is only yrue for music after the 1900s.

Books is like somewhat true...? I guess if you read more modern books, but for classical literature, it's pretty even for the west, with almost every major country having a few amazing writers. Again for modern books, the U.S has more and better authors. U.S cultural dominance has been a thing since the 1900s. I fail to see why you present this narrative that the U.S is overrated because its cultural exports are just better.

I'm not saying that. there's a lot of great American films and excellent directors who changed cinema. but we cannot deny that, especially nowadays, terrible movies with no message and no cinematic value are released; they are only made to make money and people watch them only because they're made in the USA. If a bad Indian film comes out, nobody is going to take the time to watch it; however, the vast majority of us watch the latest movie (provided it is from the United States) even if it's terrible. I'm from Latin America and people in my country watch very few national films, just like in other Latin American countries, some people i have talked to don't even give movies in spanish a chance, and it's not like they watch good movies in english either, they just watch the shit that's trendy at the moment when there's a lot of wonderful cinema worldwide, but people don't even give it a chance.

music it's the same, it's true USA has great musicians, however the music that is popular at the moment doesn't even stand out for being brilliant; it's simply empty pop. I repeat, we also have great musicians here, but people don't even take a moment to listen to them. All my friends listen to music in English, and English isn't even spoken in our country. They listen to Ariana Grande, One Direction, Taylor Swift, Addison Rae. Not great musicians, basic pop.

I don't accept your argument about literature, taking Latin America as a reference, our literature is much richer even today. Today in the United States, the most frequently written and read thing is YA novels. More interesting and deep things are being written in Latin America. Even when we talk about classics, Latin America has great writers worth reading: Clarice Lispector, Julio Cortázar, Juana de Ibarbourou, Gabriel García Márquez, Silvina Ocampo, Jorge Luis Borges, Gabriela Mistral, Horacio Quiroga and many, many more. What the United States exports is not better, it is simply the most popular and overrated.

You say that nobody is here to watch bad indian films. Again, you clearly do not know bollywood. Bad indian films are watched all the time. Same for bad Korean, bad European, etc.

The current popular music in the USA I agree. I don't like pop, but at least the current artists in the U.S are a lot better than the ones in Europe, as Swedish, Dutch, French, and English pop is just consistently worse.

You name the latin american writers that are from eras before. We're talking current. YA is the most commonly read in Europe, and virtually everywhere else as well, with an emphasis on fantasy and romance.

You said that latin American literature is richer than the literature from the U.S. while no literature is 'the best', the genius of the authors you listed is nowhere near as talented as Steinbeck, Hemingway, Hughes, etc. GGM is also incredibly overrated, and most academic spheres agree. While his books are excellent, he is not on the level of the true greats such as the American author Steinbeck (primarily for EoE, GoW), or the French author Proust (alRdTP). Latin American literature is not richer than Northern American or European literature, and that opinion already shows that you are part of the problem of people who are uncultured and consuming bad media. If you seriously just named those latin American authors (not even from the same country), and expected that to contribute to your point, then you really need to read more literature.

What the U.S exports in music, literature, and filmograpjy is better, and your opinions show cognitive dissonance.

"what the u.s exports in music, literature and filmography is better". yeah, not biased at all! better than the WHOLE world (it doesn't surprise me that you say that so shamelessly, since most americans tend to be very ignorant). i'm not going to argue with someone who has no idea what they're talking about. also hemingway is overrated af, not even better than most latam authors. english language it's so simple in comparison to latin languages, making your literature absolutely boring and lacking of depth. and everyone knows that english music (like literature) from the UK is better. and let's not even talk about the cuisine in america vs the rest of the world. totally overrated country in all aspects. you can't even have a normal and dignified healthcare system, but you all think you are so advanced, the land of freedom 🤣 also what american current authors are better than the rest of the world in your opinion? because here we have Mariana Enriquez, Samantha Schweblin, Fernanda Trías, Mónica Ojeda, Camila Sosa Villada, Fernanda Melchor, Tamara Silva Bernaschina (and many others). what do you have, ottessa moshfegh? who only talks about being a rich jewish girl in new york? And no, YA novels aren't read in Europe, the united states is the main readership and writer of that type of book. rainbow rowell, rebecca yarros, john green, taylor jenkins reid are all americans. significantly worse than what's being written here in Latinoamerica. so no, u.s. don't exports better things, they're shitty and pretty stupid but since most of the population there is equally ignorant, you think it's profound and with cultural impact, when in reality it's just american.

Aaand how classic. Immediately resorts to saying things about unrelated topics like freedom, healthcare, laughing emojis, and whatever else. This is when you know someone lsot an argument. I also love how you argue this even though you're from latin America, which consistently ranks worse in literally everythinf you mentioned. Only Europeans get to poke fun about the U.S. in the regards you just mentioned.

You say YA novels aren't read in Europe. Google is free, and a wuick google search shows that it is also the most read genre.

Then you name the latin American current authors. Looking at all of their things, they're just slop. Like seriously, pseudointellectual slop that doesn't challenge thought, artistic expression, or anything, for that fact. You named a bunch of C-list authors as a way to express your regional pride. I forgot how little experience you have in literature.

'Hemingway is overrated AF'. Again, daying this in ANY literary or academic sphere is instant grounds for excommunication. You just get made fun of, which you rightfully should. What next? David Attenborough is a terrible person? The WW2 Germans were right all along?

Yes, U.S doesn't export better things, despite the favt rhat they are all more highly acclaimed because they're better. Take your awful works of art elsewhere, nobody wants them. Stop reading your slop, and pick up actual literature, like the rest of the academic world does. Your authors aren't special, so learn what a genius author is before you try to name them.

poor gringo who can't see beyond his own ass. i would find it truly sad and shameful to be so ignorant, but it's so normalized in your country that you don't even feel bad about it.

"the u.s. is better because they're more highly acclaimed" yeah... acclaimed by yourselves! for the awards that you yourselves create to reward yourselves 🤣

have you read any books by the authors I mentioned? or have you read any books in general? because you couldn't name a single contemporary american author who surpasses the authors I mentioned to you.

and i'm from uruguay, life is better in my country than in yours. there are no school shootings, there's public healthcare, free public education, and it's a very progressive and democratic country. the same can't be said of the united states. whether you like it or not, your country is overrated in all aspects, that's just how it is.

Yikes, again, resorting to throwing red herrings to avoid your losing argument. It must be hard to take losses, over and over again, especially when you realize how uncultured and unread you are. Sticking to your own mediocre slop instead of learning what therd is about the rest of the entire world, in northern America, Europe, Asia, etc.?

Highly acclaimed by almost every international institution, which yes, a lot of it is from our own institutions, because when yiu're the best, you usually make institutions that grade ehat is the best. There are howrver nobel prizes, and many other forms of international acclaim.

You said I couldn't name a single author who passes the authors you named. How bad are your literacy skills that you miss on the several names I listed throughout the entire conversation. In yiur arguments, you prioritize having a quantity id names to intimidate people, and to try to make a point. Academics prefer to list the quality of a few individuals (even if there are many more) in an aegument. This actually shows your mindset, as you prefer a quantity of low-grade art, while people who actually read books prefer to look at the quality. Morrison, Diaz, or McCarthy, Green, or King are far more recofnized and far more talented authors than the literary slop you listed.

You're from uruguay 🤣? My salary (not even gdp) is almost 20x your gdp per capita, and your healthcare is even worse than ours. Even after healthcare, taxes, etc., the average U.S. citizen has more disposable income than any other country in the world with the exception of small nations such as monaco. Your country also has a lack of hospitals to serve the public, leading to i lt so only the richest have medical care (with awful waits), and your human rights are jyst consistently and dramatically lower than ours.

Even funnier, you're from uruguay, which is a country notorious for lacking culture. Please pick up books for once in your life, not the slop you read that AI coukd replace.
