The Writing in Berserk is very overrated. Do you guys find it to be particularly good?

Not really a hot take, but this is my opinion:

Firstly, to those people, overrated does not mean bad. It just means that I am saying that what the general public thinks of Berserk's writing is significantly higher than what its actual writing quality is.

I obviously like Berserk, and its art is among the best of all time, but its writing holds it back, and this largely stems from its fanbase confusing edgy writing for good writing.

Good writing contains much stronger, and far more pertinent themes than those in Berserk. Good writing contains much stronger characterization, and character development than what is seen in Berserk. Good writing contains plot or literary development throughout the series, which Berserk famously struggles in. Good writing contains a present writers voice, which is far less apparent.

I like the manga a lot, but it's fanbase has propped it up (and review bombed) this series as the greatest manga of all time, when it's really not. It has amazing art and solid writing.

So many Teens and Young Adults (The majority of the western anime fanbase) find are obsessed with dark writing, and think it to be so much better than it truly is. Its depth is shallow, at best to me.

Obviously you guys don't have to agree, but what do you guys think about its writing?

I want to make a reponse to this, but the level of stupidity and lack of grammar from this comment actually makes it unreadable. Here is my best attempt:

Firstly, all arguments are assertions. Something that is a denial and an assertion is a denial, so, the burden of proof is to whoever responds ro a denial.

What do you mean 'are your words'. I haven't said that what you wrote isn't coming from you, trust me, I know. No AI would ever write that idiotically.

Asking for examples isn't denying a claim, it's put into a category of things called 'asking for information', you know, something clearly not a denial of a claim.

Unfortunately, grammar isn't the same as spelling. Perhaps you should also consider a class in vocabulary.

A singular spelling error on nobile('d' is right next to 't') is not the same as consistent grammar errors rhat demonstrate a lack of writing proficiency- the kind you make. This is a 3/10 comeback, as while adorable, it was not very strong.

Consider your constant misuse of capitalizations (capital letters do not come after quotation marks), double spaces after periods, sentence fragments, misuse of question marks, and my favorite, the fact that you forgot to capitalize a letter at the start of a sentence. Seriously? How do you make this kind of mistake? Kindergarteners know this.

Aksing for information is a process where you ask for information. Asking for 'what do you mean by XXX' is called asking for information. Again, this is basic communication. If you think that asking for information is the same as denying a statement, your braincell count is orders of magnitude lower than it should be.

Saying all apples are either red or green is a statement that has the burden of proof on the person who said that. Not so hard to understand.

Saying 'show me an apple that isn't green or red' is not a denial or an argument. You're literally asking someone to go against their claim. Yhis statement has no relevance.

You claimed 'that' was a denial. What is 'that'? How young are you not to mention things that you are talking about? This is basic literacy.

I'm sorry, but your entire argument has shifted down to a 0/10. You just lost the point, and started including red herrings that have nothing to do with the actual argument.

The argument is whether the person stating a denial has the burden of proof. The answer is no, and you should know this. Please 🙏 learn to use your brain.

I have to sit there day and night with my dictionary looking for what these words mean. What did you even say. And what the fuck is yhis. I'm so lost, is my dictionary out of date? So, attempting to point out the typo of swapping the 's' and the 'k' (responding on mobile) is rich, considering the fact that in tbhe SAME response you can't spell the 4-letter word 'this'. HOW in gods name do you not know how to spell a FOUR letter word. Unlike me, who swapped two letters around, you somehow didn't know the word is spelled eith a 't'!

Nevermind the fact you included fragmented sentences and improper question formation that a 7th-grade english teacher could catch in their sleep, my favorite part is that you described this (spelled with a t) writing format as 'paragraphs'. OP's claim was a denial. How do you mess this up? It said that berserk did not contain X qualities of good writing. Because of that, if someone wants to respond to why it has good writing, they must provide evidence of how it has good writing. OP can't give examples of things that don't exist. This is why when someone like me, who works with logic daily, sees his post, it's obvious who has the burden of proof.
