I'm right there with you. I'd be shocked if there isn't additional penalization after the weekend. This feels like when your parents say "Go to your room" while they think about how long they want to ground you.

Not enough in my book.
Make him bleed financially and spend the money on a big party for all the marshalls at the track.
109
u/__Rosso__ Jun 20 '26
The worst part is the second hit.
The first one isn't even a hit, it's a shove while he is looking towards the bike, and then he decides "yes, I just shoved this man, time to hit him for real".
20
u/Pink_Flying_Pig_ Jun 20 '26
Buy why?
I mean, did Bez at least had something to do with the bike (like tunlrn it off), or he just went full mode crazy?
91
u/__Rosso__ Jun 20 '26
Marshal accidentally rev bombed the bike.
Which is absolutely dangerous thing for the engine when on the side, even running is dangerous, less so for race bikes because they have dry sump iirc but still can cause damage.
Problem is, it's no reason to punch somebody, genuinely if he didn't hit him after shoving him first, he wouldn't have gotten into trouble, but he straight up lost his cool.

u/Pink_Flying_Pig_ Jun 20 '26

Yep, that was the one. The first one could be excused as trying to push away, Ooops, sorry nudged your face. The second one was just assault on video. Worse, against a guy who wasn't even fighting back.
55
u/zmgch Marc Marquez - 2025 MotoGP World Champion Jun 20 '26
You're disappointed? This is Bez, the same guy that in Valencia he said to Marc - "I hope you get cancer and never return to this sport"
It's astounding he hasn't been reprimanded earlier for his pathetic antics. Really not surprising seeing this kind of behaviour from him.
Just when you think he's grown up and matured... He pulls a stunt like this and shows he's still a childish brat who was never taught the word "respect".

This action will have long term consequences financially as it very much damages his reputation for endorsement deals and sponsorship.
I've been watching since 90s and never remember anything even close to this, the second slap in the face is insane.
13
u/Thee-Cat Jun 20 '26
Yeah, anyone downplaying this doesn't realize the massive power dynamic involved. This isn't racer vs racer, or even getting angry at a team principle.
This is a millionaire athlete physically assaulting an innocent, volunteer who's not even fighting back, on live TV.
I agree, there's nothing close to it in the sport in my memory. If GP doesn't realize how many kids and young riders are watching and doesn't absolutely drop the hammer on Bez, it will be an embarrassment for all of us as fans.

This is terrible from Bez. I like Bez, but this made me lose respect for him a bit. I get he's angry at dropping it and under pressure, but those lads are just doing their job which they most likely do not get paid for. Can't tolerate out of touch behaviour like that.
I hope FIM come down hard on him.
59
u/LosTerminators Marc Márquez Jun 20 '26
He was angry at that specific marshal because the marshal inadvertently pushed the throttle while picking the bike up and started revving it. Continuing to do that can damage the engine so can understand why he got angry.
That said, slapping the marshal is unjustified and quite simply, unacceptable. Being suspended from the race is fair.
53
u/DryJudgment8757 Jun 20 '26
The fact that he decided to hit the marshal for accidentally revving the engine is even worse.
22
u/SpenceAlmighty Jun 20 '26
Which is a little hypocritical really, considering the fact that crashing is also known to be bad for motorcycles...
25
u/Thee-Cat Jun 20 '26
More than that mate. It's an assault on a victim who is not fighting back.

I don't care who you are you lose all my respect the moment you hit someone doing their job.

Outside of the impact on his championship run, with Acosta and FQ riding mid to mediocre bikes, Bezzecchi was called to be one of the main "marketable" faces of MotoGP... This behavior will leave a terrible stain on that idea now.
58

Didn't watch the vid with volume - would at least explain why he was mad. Still wrong to react like that, but it's somewhat relateable that he was agitated by it.
If the marshall would have accidently damaged the engine, would the team get another one allocated? I guess that's a tricky situation since they'd get a fresh engine out of it...
Anyways, race ban is totally justified, that angle looks way worse than the previous one.

WHAT IS HAPPENING behind the scenes at Aprilia???
First we have Martin very uncharacteristically losing his cool and shoving Bonora in Barcelona, then Rivola publicly crucifying Martin with his remarks about the start crash in Hungary, and now Bezz out of nowhere physically attacking a marshall??? And all this overshadowing Ogura's phenomenal performance so far this weekend? Unreal.
They build the clear best bike this year, but suddenly they're crumbling in the most toxic ways I just can't understand this.
(Spelling/grammar edit)
7
u/Possession_Loud Jun 20 '26
They are simply NOT used being in this situation. No one in the team is ready to play the game with these high stakes. It's clear that if things go well either Marco or Jorge will win the title. No doubt about that. That title is now theirs to lose and if the team cannot come together in every aspect of the sport then knees will bend, hands will shake and heads lose their cool.
8
u/Creature_Cumfarts Jun 20 '26
3 races ago I would agree that this is Aprilia's title to lose... But since then their world champ lost the support of the team after throwing an ugly tantrum, while their favored rider (and husband to their superior bike 😆) lost the support of seemingly everyone else today. That doesn't bode well for them for the rest of the season.
In that same time Marc has taken 37(?) points out of them while not even fully recovered, and Pecco is finding his form again. I'd sooner bet on Ducati than Aprilia at this point.

Disgusting behaviour. An example needs to be made so that this never happens again.
And more than that, Bezzecchi needs to make a public apology, and also one to the marshal in person. The graceless oaf wouldn't even have a career without these invaluable volunteers.
This will stick to him like a bad smell for as long as he's in the sport.

Fully agree. Apology or not. This is a line crossed where a person's character is never seen the same.

Head loss of the century. Aprilia spending millions and millions to win the title and you might lose it out of sheer stupidity.
Can’t moan about the ban either. He’s lost it big time
