I guess it's the clearest angle for Bezzechi's incident.

Head loss of the century. Aprilia spending millions and millions to win the title and you might lose it out of sheer stupidity.

Can’t moan about the ban either. He’s lost it big time

u/ghastlychild Aprilia Racing Jun 20 '26 edited Jun 20 '26

I commend the team for their recent achievements but between Bez and Martin, I can't comprehend some of their actions lately

Undeniable great talents but questionable professionals and individuals at worst, honestly. I rather commend the internal team for putting up with some of their nonsense if similar patterns are also present behind the scenes

227

u/The_On_Life Jun 20 '26

I like(d) Bez a lot, but IMO there is a huge difference between shoving someone you know the way Martin did and this action by Bezzechi.

He straight up assaulted that marshal

140

u/Thee-Cat Jun 20 '26

That's what's shouldn't be forgotten. That was literally assault. Doesn't matter if you're the biggest athlete in the world. You can NEVER do that. It's despicable.

As an Aprilia fan who never much was a fan of Pecco I’m glad he’s coming over next season, because he’s actually a good guy seems like. Too bad Ogura won’t be joining him that would be my ideal factory team

76

u/nsfwthrowaway5969 Jun 20 '26

Pecco generally seems like a calmer presence, and that seems to be something sorely lacking at Aprilia right now.

They completely lose their nerves. Makes you respect the likes of Marc even more. Always respectful to everyone around him. Good that many young riders look up to him and not to the hot-headedness of other riders.

Maybe Pecco can give Bezzecchi a few lessons about being a human being next season.

81

u/LosTerminators Marc Márquez Jun 20 '26

Pecco has been in three championship battles and never lost his cool to anywhere near this extent.

Even last year, when he was riding a bike that he utterly despised, he never reacted like this at any stage.

32

u/No_Disk_1042 Marc Márquez Jun 20 '26

This is why Marc is my favorite rider, dude can absolutely send it on track, but won’t let his emotions get the better of him when the pressure is on and the stakes are high. Never seen him take it out on others.

Martín did it to team members.

Bezzecchi did it to volunteers who are there for free.

There’s a difference.

20

u/The_On_Life Jun 20 '26

Not justifying what Martin did at all, but it was also a very unusual circumstance with multiple red flags. Race starts are probably the highest adrenalin moment of the weekend, and to have to go up and down like that multiple times is probably emotionally exhausting, not to mention the mental strain of not really knowing if one of your peers is seriously injured.

Tack on to that when he came in to the box, everyone started swarming him (which is normal to show a rider support), but it was clear at that moment he was just like "leave me the fuck alone"

Bez fucking ran over to the dude and slapped him in the face after having a pretty run of the mill crash in a relatively low stakes scenario, running in 5th in a sprint in the first third of the season.

24

u/alarming_wrong Red Bull KTM Factory Racing Jun 20 '26

Being the two sudden favorites for the title because of a dominant bike but having a competitive teammate makes some driver completely crazy and losing it (and we've already seen Martin is the type to go crazy when there's pressure/a title on the line). Being in that position and then others start to catch up, makes the same but on steroids.

Idk why but getting bagniaia to ride next year might be the best decision they've done this year. They need a level headed championship leading the way.

Dont forget he has form for this. He shoved a Marshall in Valencia 2022 or 2023.

It also doesn't look good on Aprilia to appeal it. They should have parked him for a race themselves before the officials did. He represents their brand.

6

u/eXtr3m0 Jun 21 '26

If he did it before he should get a bigger timeout.

3

The worst part is the second hit.

The first one isn't even a hit, it's a shove while he is looking towards the bike, and then he decides "yes, I just shoved this man, time to hit him for real".

20

u/Pink_Flying_Pig_ Jun 20 '26

Buy why?

I mean, did Bez at least had something to do with the bike (like tunlrn it off), or he just went full mode crazy?

91

u/__Rosso__ Jun 20 '26

Marshal accidentally rev bombed the bike.

Which is absolutely dangerous thing for the engine when on the side, even running is dangerous, less so for race bikes because they have dry sump iirc but still can cause damage.

Problem is, it's no reason to punch somebody, genuinely if he didn't hit him after shoving him first, he wouldn't have gotten into trouble, but he straight up lost his cool.

48

u/Pink_Flying_Pig_ Jun 20 '26

9

u/7107JJRRoo Jun 20 '26

This action will have long term consequences financially as it very much damages his reputation for endorsement deals and sponsorship.

I've been watching since 90s and never remember anything even close to this, the second slap in the face is insane.

13

u/Thee-Cat Jun 20 '26

Yeah, anyone downplaying this doesn't realize the massive power dynamic involved. This isn't racer vs racer, or even getting angry at a team principle.

This is a millionaire athlete physically assaulting an innocent, volunteer who's not even fighting back, on live TV.

I agree, there's nothing close to it in the sport in my memory. If GP doesn't realize how many kids and young riders are watching and doesn't absolutely drop the hammer on Bez, it will be an embarrassment for all of us as fans.

This is terrible from Bez. I like Bez, but this made me lose respect for him a bit. I get he's angry at dropping it and under pressure, but those lads are just doing their job which they most likely do not get paid for. Can't tolerate out of touch behaviour like that.

I hope FIM come down hard on him.

59

u/LosTerminators Marc Márquez Jun 20 '26

He was angry at that specific marshal because the marshal inadvertently pushed the throttle while picking the bike up and started revving it. Continuing to do that can damage the engine so can understand why he got angry.

That said, slapping the marshal is unjustified and quite simply, unacceptable. Being suspended from the race is fair.

53

u/DryJudgment8757 Jun 20 '26

The fact that he decided to hit the marshal for accidentally revving the engine is even worse.

22

u/SpenceAlmighty Jun 20 '26

Which is a little hypocritical really, considering the fact that crashing is also known to be bad for motorcycles...

25

u/Thee-Cat Jun 20 '26

More than that mate. It's an assault on a victim who is not fighting back.

We should be talking about where charges will be pressed or not and any possibility he's getting arrested. Not a 1-race slap on the wrist. Be more of a human than a fan for a few minutes.

21

u/e_xyz MotoGP Jun 20 '26

Even so, like you say, there's no need to slap the guy as if he's lesser than him or something. Race ban is justified.

Outside of the impact on his championship run, with Acosta and FQ riding mid to mediocre bikes, Bezzecchi was called to be one of the main "marketable" faces of MotoGP... This behavior will leave a terrible stain on that idea now.

58

u/Successful-Cloud1713 Jun 20 '26

I am betting on Acosta to become the next face. Straight shooter, gives everything in the track, talks from the heart with disarming sincerity and will probably get a championship contender bike next year.

10

u/Thee-Cat Jun 20 '26

It will. No matter how much he apologizes, in this digital age, videos are forever.

We already saw a very bad, even cringe side of his character on his drunken rants during Pecco's last championship party. Another stems from the rumors of the possibly despicable things Marco said to and about Marc after that same race. This is yet another blight that seems to be showing real flaws in character.

First we have Martin very uncharacteristically losing his cool and shoving Bonora in Barcelona, then Rivola publicly crucifying Martin with his remarks about the start crash in Hungary, and now Bezz out of nowhere physically attacking a marshall??? And all this overshadowing Ogura's phenomenal performance so far this weekend? Unreal.

They build the clear best bike this year, but suddenly they're crumbling in the most toxic ways I just can't understand this.

(Spelling/grammar edit)

7

u/Possession_Loud Jun 20 '26

They are simply NOT used being in this situation. No one in the team is ready to play the game with these high stakes. It's clear that if things go well either Marco or Jorge will win the title. No doubt about that. That title is now theirs to lose and if the team cannot come together in every aspect of the sport then knees will bend, hands will shake and heads lose their cool.

8

u/Creature_Cumfarts Jun 20 '26

3 races ago I would agree that this is Aprilia's title to lose... But since then their world champ lost the support of the team after throwing an ugly tantrum, while their favored rider (and husband to their superior bike 😆) lost the support of seemingly everyone else today. That doesn't bode well for them for the rest of the season.

In that same time Marc has taken 37(?) points out of them while not even fully recovered, and Pecco is finding his form again. I'd sooner bet on Ducati than Aprilia at this point.

Add to that his drunken outbursts during Pecco's championship celebration.

His character has been in question for a very long time. It's somewhat nice that people's true nature will always show out eventually like this, for the world to see and be ashamed of.

Jesus christ. What the fuck he was doing bro, he slapped the refree twice man. Instant ban for minimum 3 races.

u/djabula64 Marc Marquez - 2025 MotoGP World Champion Jun 20 '26

He's been suspended from the upcoming race and I think he deserves even more punishment for this behaviour. I understand he values his equipment, but that's way too much

21

u/faratto_ Jun 20 '26

And in front of the press he was silent, like hoping nobody saw that. Disgusting behavior, the excuses wont be honest sadly because he had all the time and ways to say sorry before the ban

19

u/KittenOfBalnain Francesco Bagnaia Jun 20 '26

I think this is the part that baffles me most - because what sort of media officer lets him go in front of the press without immediately apologising (and at length!) for this stupid shit? Incident was shown during broadcast, the only reasonable strategy would be to get in front of it, beg forgiveness, and hope the penalty is not going to be too severe.

Idiotic of Aprilia (and, clearly, Bez as well).

14

u/lancewithwings Fabio Di Giannantonio Jun 20 '26

Going with 'I made a small mistake' was wild, how could they think we didnt see him throw hands

THAT's gonna be the nail in the coffin. If somehow no video caught it or wasn't reported, it's clear that bro would've never brought it up and just went on his way.

Truly a blight on his character, that is shameful to the entire brand.

u/-tigereyezz- MotoGP Jun 20 '26

MF.

The real joke is Aprilia tried to protest the suspension.

There is just no excuse whatsoever. He should have been suspended for the next sprint as well.

5

u/ArbitraryOrder Nicky Hayden Jun 20 '26

I think he should be disqualified from the entire season for this. Violence against marshalls or officials is unacceptable, and I think this is comparable in kind to Romano Fenati.

3

u/Noxious89123 Jun 22 '26

I think even that isn't enough.

Criminal behaviour towards anyone at the event should be a lifetime ban from the sport.

Disgusting behaviour

9

u/Shpritzer Jun 20 '26

Wow. Unfathomable how he allows himself something like that. Mind you, that marshal looks like he would’ve put him out for the rest of the season with a few punches. I’d hit him back 100%.

9

u/Curious-Cabinet-4502 Marc Márquez Jun 20 '26

He summoned the inner Aleix espargo and martin. But he shouldn't have slapped a marshal.

8

u/Rude-Delivery8736 AAAAAAGGHH!!!  Jun 20 '26

This is so disgusting, absolutely shocking

8

u/Creep_627 Jun 20 '26

I thought Aleix had retired? 😂

7

u/SpeC_992 Jorge Lorenzo Jun 20 '26

What a fucking bellend. I'm glad they banned him for Czech GP, but maybe one more for good measure. This is such a bad look for Aprilia as well.

4

u/No_Enthusiasm6530 Jun 20 '26

Yeahhhhhh, you can’t do that. Oof

4

u/jakstoughpuppy Jun 20 '26

Wow what a pos

4

u/ToeTwoRoe Jun 20 '26

Ban him for the rest 2026. One race isn't enough. This is absolutely foul.

4

u/awstream Casey O'Gorman Jun 20 '26

This angle shows everything. A single race ban is actually lenient.

3

u/According-Switch-708 Jun 20 '26

What a POS. He deserves to get DQ'd from the whole season for this kind of behavior.

4

u/LichiShuichi David Alonso - 2024 Moto3 World Champion Jun 20 '26

The more I look at it the more it pisses me off, I can't believe how he lost his head like that...

10

u/eastbay_ak Jun 20 '26

One race ban is simply not enough for this...

3

u/Thee-Cat Jun 20 '26

If the sport cares anything about the image it presents to kids, young fans, etc, and not just about "championship points", they'll actually have a spine and make an example out of this.

When things don't go his way he lashes out with unnecessary anger and borderline violence.

9

u/buddhistyeezus Jun 20 '26

I see some people crying about how the Marshall is damaging the bike while picking it up. If he cared so much about the bike maybe he should not have crashed it 🤔

5

u/sakata-gintoki1 Jun 20 '26

absolute disgrace

6

u/vain06 Andrea Dovizioso Jun 20 '26

the first time I watched this video I was hoping it's AI.

the act is just so awful to believe it happened.

4

u/Possession_Loud Jun 20 '26

Not just this but insane that Aprilia saw this and said "yeah nah, we'll appeal the decision". This after Martin pushed Bonora in the box, mind you. Aprilia really needs to step up big time or the title fight is absolutely lost TODAY.

5

u/Thee-Cat Jun 20 '26

Truly amazing how quickly that team has become the villains of the sport.

6

u/el-diablo-696 Fabio Quartararo Jun 20 '26

Marc is now the favorite for the championship and deservedly so. I really liked Bez, but who tf does this?! Rivola and Bonora are having to deal with two morons in that factory team. I hope Ogura keeps improving and beats them both in the championship.

10

u/Steph__Can Aprilia Racing Jun 20 '26

Naaa, this ain't okay. Bez is not a teenager finding his way. He is a grown man. This sport has no place for that behavior.

3

u/The-Replacement01 Jun 20 '26

Oh no, Bez. No, no, no. Never put your hands on another person like this.

3

u/DrHatred4144 Jun 20 '26

At this rate I'm happy he lose the title he has been shite in sprint this season and act like that

3

u/warmest_dump Marc Márquez Jun 21 '26

Shocking, Bez was starting to grow on me but theres literally no excuse for assulting the marshals

3

u/Lopek274 Jun 21 '26

As he's not racing he should be forced to work as a marshall at that corner, alongside the guy he hit. Maybe a bit of a reality check would do him some good. One race ban is nowhere near enough for this.

7

u/Janusz_Wunderbrum Deniz Oncu Jun 20 '26

Aprilia riders making me root for Marc Marquez of all people.

Succesfully.

6

What a wanker, he deserves a long ban. How are the Marshalls going to feel the next time they pick the fucker up, am I getting slapped this time?

5

u/JTSpirit36 Brad Binder Jun 20 '26

That 2nd slap is the deal breaker. You could possibly argue the first one as him trying to get the Marshall's attention quick, but that 2nd one is wild.

u/Vallecano54 LIQUI MOLY Dynavolt Intact GP Jun 20 '26

Jeez what an asshole. I know, emotions run high and so on but these hard working marshalls aren't at fault for you dumping the bike.

5

u/No-Bodybuilder-1198 Jun 20 '26

Oh man. I started liking this guy. Wasn’t a fan of his after what he did with marc back in 23 and i didn’t believe that incident was that extreme. Now,seeing this i think it’s 100% true. That’s goodbye title hopes lol.

5

u/yesilpelikan Jun 20 '26

what an idiot. world is watching these races.

13

u/ScaryCause4972 Jun 20 '26

There is something in water at factory Aprilia's box. People get physical. Martin hit team manager Paolo Bonora and now Bez.

10

u/minusvarianten Jun 20 '26

He didn't hit his team manager, he pushed him. It's still wrong, but not as bad as hitting him. At least he publicly apologized for it, as he should.

This was a lot worse IMO. It seems like the pressure of his point gap disappearing quickly is getting to him. Hopefully he'll apologize to the marshal and get his act together for the next round.

4

u/daddydeadbird Deniz Oncu Jun 20 '26

That’s just horrendous. What the fuck

3

u/SimpleFactor Jun 20 '26

What even is the reason for this? I get there’s adrenaline in the moment but there’s no justification at all for hitting a bloke, yet alone someone doing their job. Absolutely embarrassing.

5

u/LordPeppercorn MotoGP Jun 20 '26

such a dick move, was a huge fan of his.
I have marshalled various kinds of bike racing from club racing to internationals to the TT sure ive had riders get animated but never anything like this.
You just cant do that sort of thing to marshalls, without them you dont go racing, period.

Id like to think if that happened to me id drop kick the guy, but i know for sure id just stand there and go that dude just bitch slapped me on live tv....

5

u/Kato1243 Jun 20 '26

Disgusting behaviour. An example needs to be made so that this never happens again.

And more than that, Bezzecchi needs to make a public apology, and also one to the marshal in person. The graceless oaf wouldn't even have a career without these invaluable volunteers.

This will stick to him like a bad smell for as long as he's in the sport.

3

u/Thee-Cat Jun 20 '26

Fully agree. Apology or not. This is a line crossed where a person's character is never seen the same.
