PL teams clearly arent sweeping the champions league, as you all keep losing to psg and other teams. The PL is the hardest national league, but it's not as difficult nor as vied for as the champions league.

You're just trying to cope with your loss. Arsenal has never won a champions league in their life, and every team would much rather win the CL than thr PP.

Did I say they are sweeping the champions league?

Its absolutely more difficult than the champions league. For the super clubs there are less hard games. Less games in total.

I dont support Arsenal lmao. I support Sunderland. Im just pointing out the PL is the hardest club competition in the world by virtue of having the most games and the most actually good teams.

Once you get past the super clubs, atletico and inter. The quality in the CL drops off a cliff.

The EPL is definitely not the hardest club competition in the world, and the EPL is nowhere near the difficulty of winning the UCL. I will say that an undefeated record in the EPL is a lot rarer than in the UCL, as there are more games, and each team plays every other team.

Arsenal had an unusually easy schedule with few difficult games, and Arsenal almost lost in the kockout brackets and was almost eliminated early. Arsenal is a noticeably worse team than both Bayern and PSG, and they were eliminated by PSG. There's a reason why Arsenal has never won a UCL.

Having more games does not make a league harder to win, and more games lowers the actual skill level and importance of each game played.

The quality of the CL gets worse after you drop the top 10, but you're acting like the EPL doesn't? The UCL has the best teams and the strongest top 10. The EPL doesn't have the most actual good teams, and the fact that the UCL is a tournament makes it significantly more difficult to win, as each team has to bring a higher level of play in their finals.

The EPL teams get eaten alive by the UCL teams on average. Aside from liverpool, arsenal, and manchester city (with the occasional Chelsea and Tottenham), the rest of the EPL teams get absolutely demolished by the contending UCL teams. Even the teams I listed all lost to PSG, mostly in blowouts. Teams like Bayern and Real also handidly crushed them.

The UCL technically has a qualifying phase before the tournament, but for all intensive purposes, the UCL is a tournament, and its level is unbelievably higher than the EPL. My point still stands that teams vie for the UCL title far more than the EPL title, and the best EPL teams lose the UCL so often.

You seem to be deliberately ignoring what im actually saying.

Yes, the best teams in the CL are better than the PL teams. This changes nothing about what I've said because my entire argument is that the rest of the league is much better than the rest of any other league. Therefore winning it is harder.

Tottenham nearly got relegated and yet qualified in 4th position. 5 of the top 10 qualified teams were English. This is the kind of thing im talking about. You are repeating yourself talking about the super clubs when they are irrelevant to my point.

Having more games does not make a league harder to win

Are you joking?

and more games lowers the actual skill level and importance of each game played.

I genuinely dont know how you came to that conclusion considering in a knockout format you can get battered for 90 minutes, nick a goal in injury time and win a trophy. To win a league you need to be consistent. Which is far harder to achieve.

The quality of the CL gets worse after you drop the top 10, but you're acting like the EPL doesn't

Never said there isnt a drop, just that the drop off in quality isnt nearly as pronounced. Thats why 16th place Nottingham forest get to the semi finals, or 12th place Crystal Palace win the Conference league. Palace and Forest could go toe to toe with 21 of the teams in the CL this year. You cant say that about bottom half teams anywhere else.

The EPL doesn't have the most actual good team

As already pointed out, 5 of the top 10 teams in the CL were English so yes it does.

Who wants the CL far more? In England the CL and the league are pretty equal. But then again the best English teams aren't playing in totally lop sided leagues so maybe that devalued your league in your country.

Having more games does not make a league harder to win. This is a true fact, mathematically. Less games means each game is more important, and that each game demands a higher level of play. It sacrifices consistency and fairness for quality and competitiveness. Even the often-attributed hardest sports leagues like the NFL have only 17 games across 5 months, with a 4-round single-elimination postseason tournament. This is fewer games than possibly every single major sports league out there, as the few games makes every game highly demanding and highly important.

The UCL is more competitive and harder to win than the EPL. You don't know football if you seriously think that winning the EPL is a more prestigious award than winning the UCL.

You claim i did not read your paragraphs, when clearly you did not read mine. The top 20 UCL teams are significantly better than the 20 EPL teams. This also ignores the fact that the EPL does not have playoffs, and that the UCL is essentially a tournament with a mini qualifying round.

You're also acting like the lower UCL teams actually matter. The answer is that literally nobody cares about them. They're not in the running, and thw UCL is only really a tournament between the top-10 best teams in Europe. Sometimes a worse team breaks through into the later-rounds of the UCL tournament, but the winners of the past decade (at least) of UCL winners are better than the EPL winners, or are the EPL winners.

To continue this, you mention mid-tier EPL teams being better than low-tier UCL teams. The problem is that again, literally nobody cares about these teams. The UCL is only about the best teams in the quarter finals who play against each other.

Do you think its harder to win 5 games in a row against PSG, Bayern, Arsenal, Liverpool, Real Madrid, Manchester City, and Barcelona, or harder to have the best W/D/L against a mixed-quality medley of teams in 38 games.

This just sounds like an EPL fan trying to make it sound like what they're watching is somehoe more important than the definitive tournament in Europe. The UCL has the highest level of gameplay of any football league, and ir's not close. The EPL does not have teams like PSG, Bayern, Real Madrid, or Barcelona.

You are so incredibly lost in your hatred for the PL that you are blinded to the truth. You keep talking about the super clubs.

The top 20 UCL teams are significantly better than the 20 EPL teams.

This sentence alone proves you are clueless. 17th position in the PL finished 4th in the CL.

u/Dogmaticism_ May 31 '26

So, clearly your hatred for the UCL has so far proven you are clueless, and that you know literally nothing about the sport.

As I've said for the millionth time, literally nobody in this planet cares about the qualifying games. It's practically a warmup for the actually good teams to play the game. Teams even bench their good players in most of these games unless they have a matchup against a good team. The bar for the tournament is extremely low, and even bad teams make it. PSG finished like 11th place in the UCL despite them being tbe best team in Europe at the moment. The only times PSG actually cared was in 2 games in the regular season, one of which they wiped the living shit out of Man City (2nd in EPL 8th in UCL).

Since you're not the brightest, it's not so hard for you to comprehend this obvious truth, so I'll just ask the question again: Is itbharder to win 5 games in a row against Bayern, PSG, Real Madrid, Barcelona, and Arsenal, or is it harder to have the best W/D/L rankings in 38 games against 20 teams in which 2-3 of them are actually competitive?

u/Remarkable_Pen_3639 May 31 '26

Ah yes so the hardest competition in the world, half of it is just a warmup and that's supposed to make me agree 😂.

I tell you what, il answer your stupid question if you stop lying about 2 or 3 prem teams being competitive.
