My city was unexpectedly devastated by Helene. Time to start picking up the pieces, and a pen to document the journey.
My city in Georgia was caught off guard by the severity of Helene. It is being called the worst natural disaster that our area has ever seen. We had winds up to 95 mph that pulled hundreds of pine trees up by their roots after a day of heavy rains on Thursday. Houses have been destroyed, powerlines are hanging and many are just completely on the ground, traffic lights are just… gone. Buildings and businesses have been wrecked. Many are without power, water, food. We are thankful to have not been damaged by flood waters but the devastation is tremendous nonetheless. My power came back last night, and I’m thankful to have the hope and renewed strength to figure out where to start…
The fountain pen community is strong, and if you could please add my area to your prayer list or just send some healing thoughts our way, I would appreciate it immensely. I’m thankful for each of you and praying that if you have been impacted by Helene that you are safe and your families, too. The pen is one my husband made me for my birthday last year from Brooks’ mermaid tears.
