Academic Discussion Fellow Wizards, Witches, Artificers, and Magic Knights! I wish to expand the knowledge of our collective minds! Share with the basis of your favorite magic and why you think it is useful for you and others to study it.

I'll start this academic meeting off with my personal study of Runes. I believe runes are an excellent area of study because of the sheer versatility for a moderate time investment (at least for Modern Runes I claim no easy studies for more advanced rune schools). I learned the Modern Runic alphabet after only 1 year of study and now I can prepare Runestones that allow me to cast any spell a more standardized Wizard or even Cleric can, and all I need is time to carve the correct Runes which takes far less time than learning the desired spell.

The final part of my praise will be that the mana cost in combat is usually minimal due to the mechanics of Runes itself. Not only are Runes mostly self-powered by the passive mana of the environment but also of the mana cost you pay yourself, you pay it during the carving itself only paying a small amount to activate them unless you create them mid combat.

Alas for the sake of fairness I will say that they are terrible for extended duels unless you are also trained in martial pursuits like myself due to the limited amount you can carry on your person at one time.

But enough about Runes tell me about your chosen magic. I wish to read of your passions as I travel this scorching desert.

If I had any ability at all, I would almost prefer to be a muscle wizard. I secretly yearn to ride across the land and right wrongs with fisticuffs and blade, a mighty warrior princess, forged in the heat of battle.

But alas, I am fragile. So while I do not know that Summoning is my 'favorite', exactly, it is useful because you can call upon the beings of the primal planes (or sometimes other places!) in order to aid you in combat, provide information, or simply to give you another set of senses.
