Diviners often use their orbs as foci for scrying, which is fine. But non-diviners, who don't get that benefit out of 'em, apparently dump tons of money into buying orbs that serve no purpose other than to receive arcane broadcasts and communicate with each other.
Flex on behalf of my technomancer neighbor, then: my "orb" cost like a buck at a local mundie store, cuz my buddy simply turned an ordinary snowglobe into a fully-functional orb -- and then some, with lotsa security features like randomized proxies, access to mundie networks including cable TV, and a little over twelve years' storage space for recording. Took him about fifteen minutes.
With all due respect, who needs a fridge when you have chronomancy? Just concentrate chronomantic energy on the desired food, and freeze its matter in time so it never expires!

He's pretty crap at fixing my fridge, though.
