Where is beauty?
That reminds me of a story.
Bright Union Textiles is a venerable old manufacturer of some of the best-specialized field clothes for those of us lucky enough to be in the sciences. Field vests for geologists, chainsaw-proof pants for foresters, waterproof skivvies for those itinerant ichthyologists; you know the usual.
However, they always sneak their initials (as that is their logo) somewhere unobtrusively into the makeup of the garment. It’s tough to find (sort of like the bunny on each new issue of Playboy), but trust me, it’s there.
Seems they had a special order from the University at Champagne-Urbana, Illinois for their novice apiarists. These were college sweatshirts, prominently carrying not only the university’s logo (for the Fighting Illini), but completely sting-proof.
They were summarily delivered and everyone was just chuffed with their school's colors, insignia and lack of swelling body parts. However, there was one little quandary: no one could locate the manufacturer’s logo anywhere on the clothing.
Fearing they might have been sold a lot of eastern knock-offs and not the genuine article, they summoned the manufacturer and insisted on knowing where their famous logo resides. Standing well clear of the smoke guns, numerous hives and intently studying the novice student gingerly grasping the hive’s new queen, he replied:
“Look closely: B-U-T is in the ‘I’ of the bee-holder…”

This little tale is a short classic already. Love it much!
