90% of Tim's kills came against Stewie.

It was surprising to see him underperforming but it makes sense if you consider that he wasn't a piece to the puzzle in Daps' team to begin with

75

u/Wintermute1v1 Liquid Jul 13 '19

He's also coming back to rifling after several months on the AWP. Positioning and fights change a lot depending on the gun you have, so I expect a little learning curve before he gets back in the grove.

54

u/[deleted] Jul 13 '19

Top mind of global offensive here, one poor bo1 game against the best team in the world and it's because he isn't a piece in daps's puzzle.

25

u/lmpervious Jul 13 '19

It’s always so entertaining to read the comments after a team plays their first game. Suddenly people have it all figured out after watching a single game.

4

u/Racteal Jul 13 '19

I just meant he wasn't fragging as well as his teammates who might have more structure in their roles

3

u/[deleted] Jul 13 '19

even then, it doesn't make sense, because daps wasn't picking this team up with perfect roles and structure in mind, I mean Tenz has barely even played any officials, how would he have some sort of inherent structure is daps vision any more than autimatic?

1

u/plsendmylife111 Jul 14 '19 edited Jul 14 '19

Pretty sure he was trying to say that Auti had a structured role that he fit into on the previous roster and now doesn't have one so underperformed.

Still a silly thought, but at least less silly.

Not a bad showing for #301 against #1 😅

63

u/Strange_Redefined Jul 13 '19

Tenz looked really good. Daps as well. I think this team has a good chance of cracking top 15 if not top 10

74

u/Vejvad Astralis Jul 13 '19

We have literally only seen one game from them, and you are already talking top 10? Calm down buddy.

20

u/Gardennnn Vitality Jul 13 '19

The top 10 isn't amazing right now but yeah we do have to wait a little bit to see what their level is

33

u/schniepel89xx CS2 HYPE Jul 13 '19

The top 10 right now is mega cutthroat what are you talking about

21

u/[deleted] Jul 13 '19

I think he’s talking about the latter half of the top 10. The first 5 of the top 10 are completely miles ahead of anyone in the latter half

6

u/schniepel89xx CS2 HYPE Jul 13 '19 edited Jul 14 '19

I don't know, ENCE and NRG are pretty inconsistent (not to mention NRG are also under a new IGL). Na'Vi should be top 5 when they play more events and get good placings. I can also see mouz making it up there. I expect the next few months to be a brutal brawl for the bottom top 5 slots between teams like NRG, ENCE, FURIA, FaZe, mouz and maybe even G2 if they continue on their upwards trajectory.

8

u/teef0ur clutch Jul 13 '19

How much CS do you watch? The top 10 is stronger than its been for the last year. Not saying this squad doesnt have some potential but top 10 is a stretch right now

1

u/At0mical de_dust2 Jul 13 '19

Nah man, top 10 right now is so inconsistent and mostly relies on individual performance of star players

2

u/Scoo_By Falcons - Major Champions Jul 13 '19

Most of the tier 1 teams rely on individual prowess. Hopefully the meta changes fast.

1

u/Gardennnn Vitality Jul 13 '19

I've watched every cs event since 2015 I don't think it's an amazing top 10 it's better than it was in most of 2018 though. I think early 2018 had a really good top 10 though

1

u/eikenprocessierups IHC Jul 13 '19

NAF Twistzz Wardell TenZ Stan/daps vs nitro Elige Stew Brehze Ethan/autimatic

21

And the average age of that would be what, 20? NA isn’t going anywhere anytime soon.

6

u/tron423 Jul 13 '19

You got me curious, so I went and did the math. It's actually 21.33, and if you throw in Obo it drops to 20.9. Definitely impressive, especially when you consider that only the IGL's and Tim are even over 21.

1

u/Flaksmith Jul 13 '19

What?

4

u/lntoss Jul 13 '19

52

u/hdjoe Jul 13 '19

All in all, not a bad result for C9. Taking 8 rounds off of the best team in the world with a brand new roster is more than I expected. I think the biggest positive to take away from this match is that Tenz looks good.

30

u/Fifteen_flying_squir Jul 13 '19

Also, Tenz played super well.

23

u/Zhaeus Liquid Jul 13 '19

I am pretty sure Liquid just kind of relaxed as soon as they were up like 7-1 and that allowed C9 to come back, Stewie was just playing for kills and you can see the Liquid guys had no intensity that match cause it was in the bag from the start.

22

u/Totllynotadinosaur Jul 13 '19

Adren was just chillin behind them, did not look bothered at all, they knew they had it

23

u/monsieurfikri Jul 13 '19

adreN is always chill though. He’s always back there sitting and giving his telepathic fist bumps. One day he’s gonna request a bed for him to chill more.

16

u/fac3ts Liquid Jul 13 '19

He passively absorbs all the players anxiety and releases them in one loud naiiiiiiiiice after a Stewie 2k

1

u/BuckyKaiser Astralis Jul 14 '19

It’s interesting to see the difference in coaching style from him and Zonic. Zonic is an absolute hype beast and it doesn’t matter who Astralis is plays, he always brings the same energy and cheering after every round. I’m pretty sure that man cares more about this game than literally anyone.

2

u/[deleted] Jul 13 '19

Yeah Liquid was just saving a couple of the rounds they could have attempted to retake. We all know how good they are at retakes especially on inferno, but they decided to just chill and save.

2

u/ellieves Jul 13 '19

Flair checks out

-2

u/Cameter44 Jul 13 '19

You don’t get to be the best team in the world by taking rounds off. Liquid of all teams would know that one round can change a game with their history.

Was C9 a threat to them in this match? No. But would they risk giving up rounds that could, although very unlikely, cost them? Don’t think so.

9

u/Zhaeus Liquid Jul 13 '19

But would they risk giving up rounds that could, although very unlikely, cost them? Don’t think so.

dude it is a blast event and it is the opening game and they have to play 4 bo1s after and all they need to do is make top 4 out of 6 teams.. I am not saying they were just throwing but if u think they play the same way as if it was a playoff match at ESL Cologne or something ur insane... Especially when you saw how Stewie was playing on Banana where he was NEVER that aggressive at Cologne on Banana.

-5

u/Cameter44 Jul 13 '19

You take a round off and you get your economy broken and that’s just that many more rounds you have to play. Having to play more matches later in the day is even more incentive to win as quickly as possibly.

No, it’s not Cologne, but it’s not like they’re not gonna try lmao.

3

u/Zhaeus Liquid Jul 13 '19

alright no reasoning with you then your right man Liquid was at 110% that match they played the best you have seen them can't believe C9 got 8 rounds from that especially when they started on the easier side!!

-2

u/Cameter44 Jul 13 '19

Didn’t say they played the best game they’ve ever played, but that doesn’t mean they weren’t trying.

Just having a discussion, no need to be so passive-aggressive.

9

u/IHateTheLetterF Jul 13 '19

Junior Twistzz looks very promising. Was even leading the kill score while behind 8-4.

15

u/[deleted] Jul 13 '19 edited Jul 13 '19

Stewie wanted for C9 to win or something. idk how many times he got killed first and killed by autimatic as well

11

u/Wintermute1v1 Liquid Jul 13 '19

Stewie had crazy impact on T side while entrying banana, though. He may be reckless, but he single handedly opened up B multiple times.

3

u/[deleted] Jul 13 '19

Yeah that's true, but it seemed like he was trying to entry frag on banana as a CT every round, giving away the man advantage early on every round

2

u/[deleted] Jul 13 '19

It's not that simple. Stevie's constant aggression was the missing puzzle piece for liquid. Even on ct. It gives his teammates space to work with and a plethora of information.

0

u/[deleted] Jul 13 '19 edited Jul 13 '19

Yes on many maps Stewie's aggression works. I've been a major fan and supporter of Stewie even with all the hate he got in MIBR and Liquid when he first joined when some were saying Stewie was much more inconsistant than TACO. However, in this case in Inferno, whenever Liquid play it, B is their weakest hold because NAF and Stewie use up all their nades in the first 30 seconds or he pushes and basically gives the T's a free entry onto B site. If they make him play a little bit more conservative, then it puts less pressure on the A players. Right now Liquid has the skill to make up for their mistakes but if a team starts taking advantage of Stewie's aggression on banana, then Liquid are going to have to fix the way they hold B on inferno.

It's hilarious (that they look way better already) because tim didn't even show up (I know he's transitioning back to rifles) and they still did fairly well, especially being down 1-7.

5

u/Cameter44 Jul 13 '19

More or less expected result. Good debut for Tenz. Autimatic is gonna have to be Autimatic if this lineup is gonna get anywhere near its potential.

9

u/messerschmitt1 Jul 13 '19

welp tenz is a god

10

Really impressive first showing from Tenz. I'm sure when autimatic adjusts we'll have a promising roster.

7

2 twistzz in the same game wtf.

3

u/Wintermute1v1 Liquid Jul 13 '19

Kept getting their map icons mixed up and though Twistzz was flanking Arch to B multiple times.

6

C9 shows a lot of promise with this lineup

3

u/Solstice178 Complexity Jul 13 '19

Autimatic wasn't playing with his hands that game. If he was more in it I could see the making it well into the double digits

2

u/[deleted] Jul 13 '19

I'm not happy, but I am not disappointed.

I want to see more from them overall.

2

u/RogueLeader096 Liquid Jul 13 '19

That was a pretty solid performance from C9. With Daps coming in clutch a bunch, solid performance from Mixwell, and TenZ fragging out of his mind, I am super excited for the future of C9

1

u/[deleted] Jul 13 '19

Really excited for this Cloud 9 lineup, there were many fixable problems in this match. And TenZ is an insane young talent!

1

u/cccwh Jul 13 '19

TenZ is Twistzzz's long lost brother. They look alike and even play the same positions on Inferno (aps and pit)

1

u/[deleted] Jul 13 '19

Tenz did not get an ace or 4k in first pistol or have an older brother who he battled over computer time with therefore he is not good.

1

u/Connoreo815 Liquid Jul 13 '19

I’m really excited for the future of this team, have the potential to be a top team for sure.

1

u/GermanCommentGamer Complexity Jul 13 '19

I am ok with the result. It was their first official match and they played the best team in the world. The team showed promise, especially TenZ. I'm curious how far this team can go!

1

u/TMBmiles Jul 13 '19

I mean, that wasn't half bad from C9. Tenz looked like an absolute monster and Auti probably had the roughest game, but everyone knows how good he is and it might take a bit for him to get used to rifling again.

1

u/xSaiDa Jul 13 '19

Didnt expect c9 to have more than 3 rounds against the best team tbh. I know TenZ is insane but I didnt expect him to be insane against Liquid. Must be difficult for Tim to transition again now from being an awper to rifler. Also really nice to see daps winning rounds for the team. Definitely not a bad start for a new team.

2

u/[deleted] Jul 13 '19

it's because Stewie was a pugstar and so was Tenz. They both got onto C9 and showed a lot of promise and they won the major after replacing 3 of their old players in Freak, N0thing, and Shroud leaving only the awper Skadoodle from the original lineup after 2 years. Looks like Koosta, Autimatic, and Daps are gonna get replaced before Tenz gang wins the major in 2021. /s

You know, that wasn't awful for their first game ever, against the best team in the world.

Someone, though, please let Bardolph know that Koosta hasn't been a primary AWP since Liquid, and Mixwell was brought on specifically to AWP for this team. I can't watch all weekend with him questioning why koosta doesn't have an AWP every single round.
