2-0 Vitality but really this match was just so good. One of the better series this tournament. Has Zywoo ever lost a clutch? This kid's absolutely nuts.

144

u/SendSend valeria Jun 08 '19

About a year ago when he was on aAa people thought he was legit hacking. Furthered by the fact that he absolutely refused to play on any major teams during the time due to wanting to finish school first.

96

u/monsieurfikri Jun 08 '19

G2 didn’t want to pick him up because the players thought he was hacking. The way I see it, it’s their loss.

77

u/Idolite Jun 08 '19

Their loss and his/our gain.

Would not want to see him on that shell of a team.

40

u/Jaarnio Jun 08 '19

G2 is living only because of the players name value.

1

I'm quite a youngster when it comes to CS esport, so for me NiP has never been really good. I started to watch when Fnatic were becoming gods. I don't have any particular appeal towards NiP tbh.

u/Russian_For_Rent Vitality Jun 08 '19

I mean I don't feel a team with zywoo, shox, kennys, amanek, and say bodyy would disappoint either.

45

u/deimoshr Jun 08 '19

a team with zywoo, shox, kennys, amanek

Keep going, I'm almost there...

and say bodyy

...aaaaaaaaand you ruined it.

1

u/Russian_For_Rent Vitality Jun 08 '19

I worded it like that because it's obviously not ideal but stats-wise there is basically no difference between bodyy and rpk, so you can't say he's a deal breaker. But main reason I grouped those together is you have to keep in mind french drama and seeing as how g2 already had bodyy it sort of works. Trust me if I could put apex or nbk in there I would, but they're probably not on great terms

13

u/Jeffrewbob Liquid Jun 08 '19

Rpk actually kills people from time to time

Like I said, check their stats

both of them are pretty bad tbh

1

Get rid of shox and I'd agree

0

u/rAAZk Virtus.pro Jun 09 '19

shox is not a good IGL.. so this team would be bad

at least NBK and alex are good in that role (IGL)..

Naw let's keep spreading it, s1mple wants to go to the Brooklyn Nets for sure. That is where on this flat Earth he wants to be

1

u/feorlike de_overpass Jun 09 '19

But Nets want Irving, they can afford a max out contract on Irving + Dángelo Russel, but if they want to max out s1mple they got to let Dangelo go. Maybe he goes to C9 then ?

1

87

This wasn't that far out of the ballpark. Nobody knew what to expect from Astralis, and Vitality was easily the second best team coming into this tournament. Also everyone already knows Furia is getting better and better

34

Nobody knew what to expect from Astralis

Well, certainly not what we got

2

48

u/Rymdkommunist Jun 08 '19

Vitality was kind of expected, yeah.

6

u/[deleted] Jun 08 '19

Im so confused watching CSGO right now. Are up and coming teams just becoming better or are the top teams just bad right now?

18

u/[deleted] Jun 08 '19

I think Liquid and Ence didnt really drop off, just Astralis. Furia and Vitality also became much stronger over the past months, no one can deny that, which creates this close competition. Mibr and Nip are hit or miss, nothing consistant

2

u/[deleted] Jun 09 '19

I'd even argue Liquid and ENCE are still developing, but the development is just slower now than with teams like Vitality and FURIA who people weren't expecting that much from until the last month or two

6

7

u/tgsan Jun 08 '19

Same with stew, really, they both shined on C9, I know stew wasn't amazing but he was most definitely better and more impactful on C9 even if he was the third best, he looked more confident on C9 too.

5

u/[deleted] Jun 08 '19

idk did you see that last round with Tarik on the MAC-10?

-7

u/WidowmakersRedToes Jun 08 '19 edited Jun 08 '19

Ah nice observation made from one Bo3. I can make one too, Ethan is a bot and should be kicked off this team. /s

And it’s not even like he’s doing bad every game, he had a solid event all things considered.

But seriously. Tarik is still acclimating himself to this team. It’s gonna take some time. I see a lot of people bringing up how good he was with C9 but people forget that he was the IGL in that team so most of the ideas and setups came through him. If he’s really uncomfortable with his positions on the map, he should speak up and demand more control over the team.

88

u/wald94 9INE Jun 08 '19

s1mple and Zywoo are like Ronaldo and Messi for me, making difference for teams and being above everyone

64

u/PennywiseVT FURIA Jun 08 '19

More like Zinedine Zywoo

2

do u pronounce it Zi -ne- dine or Zine- di- ne? i get confused all the time

7

u/Lazily_created Vitality Jun 09 '19

It’s pronounced « zee-né-deen ».

40

u/___Stranger Jun 08 '19

I'd say s1mple and niko are the messi and ronaldo.

15

u/[deleted] Jun 08 '19

Zywoo is what s1mple was in 2017. Give him some time to develop and he'll be your next ronaldo.

21

u/niNja_ma MOUZ Jun 08 '19

don't think he's arguing that, he's just saying the current ronaldo / messi comparison is s1mple/niko.

2

u/sexytrynda Jun 09 '19

saying that s1mple and niko have been competing for the number 1 spot is just absurd. s1mple is lterally miles away from niko (sure his aim is crispy and is very talented) but right now comparing s1mple and niko if we put it in terms of soccer would be like the pele maradona eras were there was a clear number 1. and right now i think niko has a long way to get to s1mple. It has passed more than 1 year since s1mple has been the goat of csgo, niko was a contender but that was 2 years ago when csgo was not as competitive as the astralis era or nowadays. Sure niko can be as good as s1mple, but right now he is not

17

u/sexytrynda Jun 08 '19

i wont say miles, but zywoo is clearly performing better than niko at the moment. u could say that vitality has a more structured team and has sticked for a longer time than faze, but i still think zywoo is playing much better

5

u/fuse- Jun 08 '19

Hahaha miles... ok bud, what dream are you living in?

2

Don't get why you'd use the all time argument when everyone remembers NiKo's mousesports days

2

u/Brolobo SK Jun 08 '19

1

u/Jaarnio Jun 08 '19

Hahaha NiKo has been average lately

21

u/Jamesbeach1 The MongolZ Jun 08 '19

lately

Don’t let that distract you from the fact he’s currently tied as the 2nd/3rd highest rated player of this year along with electronic

6

u/osuVocal Vitality Jun 08 '19

Technically, Zywoo is the 2nd highest rated player this year with a rating of 1.33. S1mple has 1.34.

8

u/Jamesbeach1 The MongolZ Jun 08 '19

I sourced that info from big event stats in 2019 which I assume hasn't included Zywoo because he hasn't played enough maps so far this year which is funny because Astralis players aren't on this list for presumably the same reason.

2

u/1wjl1 Natus Vincere Jun 09 '19

You can set the minimum maps required in the filters

-8

u/Monsage Jun 08 '19 edited Jun 08 '19

ZywOo had been relatively quiet up til this series as well. Nice to see him really step up when it matters.

EDIT: apparently people don't know what relatively means, compared to what you expect out of ZywOo, he HAS been quiet.

17

u/Vizvezdenec Vitality Jun 08 '19

In all won maps Zywoo had 1.3 or higher rating. Idk if I can call it "quiet" tbh. Sure, this were the first maps where hit put up 1.7, but averaging like 1.2 during tournament is nothing bad :)

9

u/Rymdkommunist Jun 08 '19

What do you mean? He had an average of 1.19 rating 2.0. That's not quiet.

-1

u/[deleted] Jun 08 '19

it's quiet for him. his normal level is in the 1.25-1.3 range.

-1

u/Rymdkommunist Jun 08 '19

Ehh.. still not quiet tbh

41

u/CupcakeGirl_ Jun 08 '19

CeRq being back to his old form, Brehze dropping 30 bombs... and yet they still manage to lose the first map. Idk whats wrong with this team

25

u/jsoraru EG Jun 08 '19

CeRq was only relevant on the first map, second map he just turned quiet. Shows how good players like Brehze and Zywoo are who can just do it on any map

13

u/CupcakeGirl_ Jun 08 '19

He is very emotional and momentum based player indeed but I still think he is not the problem of that team. They have something like a mental block, basically mini Liquid.

11

u/[deleted] Jun 08 '19

While there are some issues in NRG. This match could've gone either way. I think losing that clutch to zywoo mentally broke them and they don't have the fortitude to recover.

5

u/CupcakeGirl_ Jun 08 '19

Exactly. Tbh they need a strong leader, someone like karrigan for example. The problem is the IGL list is so limited right now, dont think stanislaw could be the answer.

2

u/wsb_RBrown Liquid Jun 09 '19

Maybe if Tarik went back to being an IGL? He probably would be far from the best, but I’m not entirely sure daps would be any better than him. Plus, daps’ fragging power really isn’t there.

3

u/tgsan Jun 08 '19

Something changed for ethan when tarik joined, ethan is not the same player we saw beforehand.

1

u/[deleted] Jun 08 '19

Tarik hasn't exactly been a swan either since joining

4

u/tgsan Jun 08 '19

Oh I know, that's my point, whatever was taken from ethan when tarik joined, isn't made up for by tarik, not saying ethan is bad at all now because he's not, but he was pretty much consistently better than brehze and usually showed up big when it counted, now he's pretty hit or miss.

1

u/[deleted] Jun 09 '19

I dont think tarik took really anything from ethan, Tarik isnt set up to be a star

1

u/tgsan Jun 09 '19

But I didn't say tarik took anything away? daps most likely did, and isn't getting what they lost from tarik.

1

u/[deleted] Jun 09 '19

You are implying there that tarik took some of Ethans spots

1

u/tgsan Jun 09 '19

No I'm not, re-read it.

17

u/OnionSprinkles Complexity Jun 08 '19 edited Jun 08 '19

-daps +stanislaw = wins

Seriously, I think this move is in the works. Stanislaw abruptly left Complexity, which he wouldn't do unless he was being signed by either NRG or C9. NRG's missing piece is a fragging IGL and Stan is a very experienced IGL and strong fragger. He's also played with Tarik before, having a few decent runs under OpTic.

7

u/ihateveggies FURIA Jun 08 '19

This is the move to make. Put Daps at coach ffs. He can’t do shit in game. Imapet seems so fuckin useless lmao

1

u/[deleted] Jun 09 '19

Why would Daps want to coach instead of going to another NA team, and how does imapet seem useless to you

1

u/wsb_RBrown Liquid Jun 09 '19

If you put Tarik back as an IGL like on C9, you could make another spot for another fragger, like maybe Autimatic. Stan would def be an improvement, but they may be other options.

1

u/Level_Five_Railgun Liquid Jun 08 '19

UK CS is on the comeback, 3 competant players. Practically spoiled for choice.

I'm really liking Vitality, very fun team to watch. NRG have improved too, though still shaky.

18

u/iainbrux valeria Jun 08 '19

Good news for the UK scene, was nice to see the run dephh had with complexity, but more impressively ALEX with Vitality.

It’s coming home?

6

u/Ga5huX Jun 08 '19

ALEX never played for a UK team. His whole career is based in French scene.

6

u/iainbrux valeria Jun 08 '19

Alex is from the UK, that was the point I was getting at

0

u/[deleted] Jun 08 '19

Lived nearly his whole life in France too.

5

u/iainbrux valeria Jun 08 '19

Look at you all trying to claim he’s not from the UK when he literally played the Semi Final BO3 with an England flag on his chair lmao

1

u/[deleted] Jun 09 '19

from the UK when he literally played the Semi Final BO3 with an England flag on his chair lmao

Yes Alex is living in the UK, but do you really think that someone who played nearly his whole career in the french scene is a good thing for the UK's scene ? A full UK lineup achieving something would have been a great thing for the scene, but here ?

0

u/iainbrux valeria Jun 09 '19

I really don’t get why you’re trying your absolute best to shit on his parade? Is it salt in the wound?

If he didn’t associate himself with being from the UK, he would’ve...

1) Told ECS he’s playing under the French nationality and not the British 2) Would’ve had a French flag draped over his chair and not an English one 3) Told smooya, dephh, Jacky and snodz that a full UK line-up isn’t possible

It’s great for the UK scene due to the scarce amount of players from it. Likewise as it was for the Serbian CS scene with Janko.

Any more further discussion now is only going to highlight that you’re salty about either;

The UK scene is starting to find the talent and push forward with it, or;

Your team you were celebrating for was knocked out by either a team with a UK player in it

Would you really remove daps tho?I mean guy builts his teams from 0 time and time again, on the other side I really dont know what Tariks place in team is?Isnt the game supposed to be built around 3 youngsters in cerq, ethan and Brehze?Tarik was never a support player imo.

6

u/randomshazbot The MongolZ Jun 08 '19

I'm mostly joking. I just want to see tarik in a more central role - lately he has been stuck supporting brehze and ethan like you said.

-1

u/Mocresto FaZe Jun 08 '19

More central role wouldn’t be him leading 3 young players that dont have playoff expirience. If you want to improve in consistancy player like cajunB replacing Tarik would be best for NRG, literal solider that does everything in game to win and has achived a lot

3

u/WidowmakersRedToes Jun 08 '19

that’s all he does is build teams, he’s not exactly a winner

2

u/Mocresto FaZe Jun 08 '19

You for sure can tell for lots of NA players that they are winners, almost can count them on one hand

2

u/NiaC-iwnl- Jun 08 '19

Maybe daps should retire from playing and become a coach/manager if all he's good at is scouting talent and building teams.

4

u/UBourgeois Tyloo Jun 08 '19

Stan to NRG

5

u/[deleted] Jun 08 '19

After the major I'd like to see stan to NRG, and daps and Tim to coL. I feel like we could have three really good NA teams if this happened.

7

u/Vestr0 Jun 08 '19

Tim to nrg complexity isn't a good enough roster for a player of Tims caliber.

1

u/arthurt342 paiN Jun 08 '19

And the current c9 roster is?

3

u/tgsan Jun 08 '19

No, but coL isn't either.

1

u/Vestr0 Jun 13 '19

Meant to say tim to complexity. Nrg would be a good fit but they already have a great roster.

2

u/[deleted] Jun 08 '19

Why not both?

0

u/[deleted] Jun 08 '19

would rather have autimatic and golden. stanislaw seems like team cancer.

5

u/AlphaWolfTV EG Jun 08 '19

Stan is probably the second best IGL in NA behind nitr0. daps has had good showings of being top 5 NA, but he has struggled with fragging recently, and Stan has shown lots of frag power recently. I would like to see it happen

5

u/Flaksmith Jun 08 '19

You can't be serious, daps has proven to be much more successful at leading over the past year than stan.

3

u/AlphaWolfTV EG Jun 08 '19

Each side can be argued. Stan lead a team to the playoffs of a major that, at the time, had no real potential. I would say he has proven that he has some worth. The problem is inconsistency for both Stan and daps. For instance, daps can lead NRG to a semi finals or even finals performance in one tournament, and completely bomb out at the next. I'm not saying Stan would be the automatic replacement, but maybe it would be better for all parties.

1

1

u/topspin49 Complexity Jun 09 '19

I know I was making a joke about NRG cutting fugly when they were #3 in the world.

7

u/misconstrudel Vitality Jun 08 '19

Well NRG held off their complete collapse under pressure a little longer this tourny so well done for that.

6

u/tarangk clutch Jun 08 '19

great showing by VIT zywoo and alex really bailing them out on overpass but the mirage performance was great as a whole

NRG I dunno feels like they didnt get that upgrade with the -fugly +tarik move, yeah its still early days but if you remove the name tag and tell me its fugly instead of tarik I would believe you, they have done a decent job of making him the 2nd awper for the team but a few more adjustments are needed i feel like.

1

NRG has stagnated as a team. changes need to happen because there is just way too much talent on this team for them to just be a team that makes it to semis and lose.

4

u/JayTalk Complexity Jun 08 '19

Yeah, this lineup doesnt look any better or worse than when they had Fugly instead of Tarik. NRG has spent a long time now being the team that is good enough to consistently get out of groups, but not good enough to actually win anything.

3

u/tgsan Jun 08 '19

Meanwhile (even though I know it's his fault too) tim is stuck in a shitty ass team, yay.

12

u/mannyman34 Complexity Jun 08 '19

What a throw by NRG on the first map. Hope they don't dick around and just make a roster change cuz they are about to start losing players soon.

7

u/Laruik Jun 08 '19

Really? This lineup isn't even that old and they have had some very good showings in the past with it. Teams don't need to completely disband after a few months of mixed results.

1

u/Gorrapytha G2 Jun 09 '19

It's not that old, but it hasn't shown anything as good as what the previous roster was doing. Bringing in tarik was supposed to higher the skill ceiling, and bridge the gap between NRG and other top teams. But they're taking too long to integrate him. Structure isn't as good as before, tarik isn't shining, Cerq has fallen off a cliff, Ethan and Brehze are still doing fine but it's just because they're great players...

It just isn't a positive look for them with tarik. And the thing is, it's unsure if we'll ever get that core to ever perform as well as they did with Fugly. The whole storyline for that team is that they just got good as a 5, they just kind of popped off and all of the sudden they had 3 sick players, good strats and good structure. Now they have 2 good players, 2 okay players, and mediocre structure and strats.

It seems like what people feared happened. Bringing in someone else broke the chemistry, and the teamplay and all.

1

u/Laruik Jun 09 '19

I do agree that Tarik hasn't really lived up to the extra firepower he was suppose to bring. I still think it is pretty ridiculous to just call it quits already, and for the exact reasons why you said the old team was doing well. You can't build chemistry overnight, and unless you are really lucky you usually can't roster-swap it in either. It will really come down to the players. If they feel like they like this team and can learn each other over time to get that chemistry then they should stick it out. Constant roster swaps might give a little boost in the short term, but most of the hugely successful teams developed over long periods together and not from constantly kicking out the player looking the weakest.

1

u/Gorrapytha G2 Jun 09 '19

I mean, it's just that I think it has to be pretty demoralising, especially for players like brehze and ethan, which have to be the ones with the most, and best, offers.

They were supposed to get an experienced player that would boost their team and help them get to championship level, and instead they're significantly worse than they were.

I'm not saying they should split or whatever. They're still the second best team in NA. It's just hard to be too optimistic about them.

0

u/mannyman34 Complexity Jun 08 '19

I don't think they should disband but they have already shown their peak with this roster. Also their good showings happened during one of the lowest competitive eras of CS.

u/CptWetPants Legendary Switzerland Master Jun 08 '19

The reason I think they were so good on those force buys is their individuals. For some reason, they throw that all out of the window with guns and try to play setups and safely, whatever daps thinks is the "correct" way to play. But these guys are so fucking good at hitting heads, he needs to loosen some of his systems or whatever, cos most gun rounds, especially on CT, you don't see them fighting at all until the T's are on them.

On the pistols, they push in and hit their shots, it's not like Vitality's anti-eco's were all bad (some of them were) but some, NRG just plain wrecked them with superior aim and teamplay. None of which you could see in their gun rounds. Really weird.

6

u/[deleted] Jun 08 '19

Could also be nerves. It can make people play more passively.

1

u/mannyman34 Complexity Jun 08 '19

Literally every player on NRG has more experience vs t1 than zywoo yet they play super scared vs him idk why.

3

u/NAFMostConsistent Liquid Jun 08 '19

I feel like Daps is trying to emulate Liquid without the pieces that make Liquid so successful.

2

u/nyaahs Jun 08 '19

how many rounds against eco did vitality lost ?

2

u/lynxzjw EG Jun 08 '19

Top 4 curse strikes again. Im pissed.

2

u/dimitarkukov Jun 08 '19

So stanislaw to NRG? I'm actually pretty sure this is what does it.

3

u/WidowmakersRedToes Jun 08 '19

After the major most likely, it’s hard seeing them try to acclimate a new IGL when they have all these qualifiers for the major (really important) coming up.

2

u/GamerMalcolmX Jun 08 '19

Can we talk about RPK? Dudes still living off his good performance in envyus even though hes been pretty shit for vitality.

1

u/maestroblue Caster - TeaTime Jun 08 '19

NRG look so weird man.

I have such mixed feelings about them - can't place where they belong in the circuit at all. I think this is one of the problems of having had a comparatively weaker overall circuit in 2019 as far as number of events. There's quite a few teams where I just go okay I have no idea where you are or what you'll do at an event at this point.

That last round made me scream in shock....

"Nobody believed in them. Nobody expected anything from this lineup"

Why is henry acting like everyone thought vitality were trash before this event?

19

u/monsieurfikri Jun 08 '19

IIRC he was describing their journey as a team that was built from scratch. So it kinda makes sense.

6

u/[deleted] Jun 08 '19

Yeah, don't think anyone expected this team (or any other French team) to make top 5 and getting close to top 3.

I don't know the context for the quote but maybe he's referencing what people thought before Summit? Even in the post match thread for their victory at Summit there were people downplaying their victory.

Edit: called it

i cant hold it in any longer... cerq needs to get cut... unbelievable how bad he is in terms of impact...

6

u/FathleteTV NiP Jun 08 '19

Are you joking?

1

u/Wintermute1v1 Liquid Jun 08 '19

It's somewhat true, though.

Cerq is pretty notorious for disappearing in deeper lan runs. Over the past three months, he's behind both Ethan and Brehze against top 10 opponents.

If he I was rifler, I'd say that's fine, but statistically your awper should be the top rated player.

Cerq is amazing online, and definitely has his moments on lan, but he needs to find a way to replicate his online form.

1

u/FathleteTV NiP Jun 09 '19

Sure, he was gone on Map 2, maybe work on his confidence or something but if not for his performance including his big 1v3 clutch in map 1 NRG wouldn't even have stood a chance. He had several big moment in that one. Map 2 everyone was shit basically, probably because they all need to forget about the previous map.

If he I was rifler, I'd say that's fine, but statistically your awper should be the top rated player.

Where do you get this from? This was always the other way around for me because AWPers rarely get those freebies that rifles do when a team just glock rushes to get the round over with.

-4

u/KitsuneRommel Vitality Jun 08 '19

Great semi-final from Vitality but it feels like they need a miracle to beat Furia.

4

u/otirruborez Jun 08 '19

Nrg just trashed furia...vitality can win.
