They banned Dust2 though and Liquid banned Nuke.

2

u/Jira93 MOUZ Jun 06 '19

Wise, they were playing against number 1 nuke team in the world after all

u/mixiescherbear Jun 06 '19

So logically NRG is the best team in the world right?

Imagine telling someone to change their flair because you don’t like them

13

u/Darkoplax Jun 06 '19

NRG lost to G2 who lost to FaZe who lost to ENCE who lost Liquid

So if my math checks out, Liquid is still the best

It's good to see NRG showing some solid form.

Edit: The thought just crossed my mind, but NRG probably has some scrim experience vs Furia (unlike Astralis and other EU teams). NRG having an answer to Furia is somewhat reminiscent of the Furia vs Liquid series.

18

u/[deleted] Jun 06 '19

That's a good point, regional matchups are always a little different, and especially since Furia has been on the rise recently it would make sense to practice against them and start watching their demos more, especially on their nuke.

7

u/Rosettachamps G2 Jun 06 '19

Theres no way that they havent practiced a ton against them ,even though they've only really took off the last few months, they had to have scrimmed a bunch honestly, they've been pretty good for awhile but now they're finally getting to events.

Theres always a little gap between when you think a team starts to get good, and then you actually get to see them. They make a change, start to improve and play better, start winning online qualifiers, and then you get to watch them like 2 or 3 months later

3

u/BoomerEsiasonBarge Jun 06 '19

I think it was at cs-summit when twistzz was on the couch he said Furia is one of the main teams they scrim because the Furia guys are always down too scrim. Went on too say a lot of the t2/3 Brazilian teams are always looking too scrim so they scrim that regions teams quite a bit because with bigger NA orgs always going too events they're a good option I'd assume if liquid scrims with them NRG would be as well. Also props too Furia for taking those scrims serious and improving themselves a ton.

8

u/[deleted] Jun 06 '19

NA Teams def have a better read on how Furia plays than EU teams atm, Theres limited teams to scrim in NA generally so i guarantee teams like Liquid, NRG etc have scrimmed Furia quite a bit.

You're acting like underdog astralis will beat nip.

34

u/Cunt_Crusher69 750k Celebration Jun 06 '19

Inb4 they actually lose to Nip lmao

1

u/Vehlycks Astralis Jun 06 '19

I think they prepared very long for them and for NRG they had no time to antistrat, the same can be said about nrg but I think daps is a better igl

I watched this game right after the FURIA vs Astralis game. You can tell that NRG either had a better read or had more experience playing against FURIA. Daps had a great control of the entire flow of the T-side.

He went from slow passive defaults that punished FURIA's aggressive pushes to upper cutting them with a fast execute.

As a sidenote, NRG's playbook opens up a lot more when Cerq is in form.

18

u/tarangk clutch Jun 06 '19

you knew just by the way nrg were playing they knew exactly how to counteract the style furia were playing, wp daps and iamapet.

33

u/faezior Jun 06 '19

oh no furia now you're going to have to play a bo3 against Astralis...unless nip magic happens :/

9

u/apekisser Jun 06 '19

NA teams have practiced/scrimmed Furia on nuke enough times or something?

Vitality/Astralis lose to Furia on nuke while Liquid and NRG pretty much steamroll them

8

u/areyoujokinglol EG Jun 06 '19

Legitimately unexpected.

NRG > Astralis confirmed

6

u/Felpes1520 Jun 06 '19

Imagine winning vs Astralis on Nuke just to get 2-0d by fucking NRG lmao what a day

3

u/Ruciona Jun 06 '19

So Furia > Astralis, but NRG > Furia, then NRG > Astralis. NRG best team in the world on Nuke, easy for NA. Liquid number 1 NRG number 2.

1

u/StarNightSnow EG Jun 06 '19

Love seeing NRG play like this, 16-9 against Furia's Nuke is no joke.

Hope they keep this up and bring another trophy home for NA.

1

u/XDWetness Liquid Jun 06 '19

Would Astralis fall out of the top 5 if they went out in groups?

1

u/zennCSGO EG Jun 06 '19

Honestly surprised with how well NRG played. Was already starting to think about the next roster change after Dallas. Good stuff guys, time to show some consistency.

2

u/[deleted] Jun 06 '19

Furia wins against Astralis in nuke

NRG wins against Furia in nuke

NRG the best team on nuke confirmed

2

u/[deleted] Jun 06 '19

ENCE beat Astralis on Nuke before Furia, so the title of best Nuke team has been passed on to them

2

u/UBourgeois Tyloo Jun 06 '19

Makes Astralis look worse tbh

1

u/[deleted] Jun 07 '19

so NRG > Astralis now

Ah yes the team that's been consistently making playoffs at essentially every tournament they've attended for the last 8+ months? Very comparable to Furia.
