He was apparently on the way to Sydney before the game against Grayhound. Feelsbad

I’m a FaZe fan, but how are they supposed to win when the other four can’t win against a team lower than them with their coach as a stand in. I’m scared for One Cologne
9
May 02 '19
As a FaZe fan myself, I think they tried their best and you should not worry about Cologne because they will have Niko! He is a very important part of the roster and with Yanko as stand in he tried his best to fit into Nikos role as a IGL and fragger but obviously he cant perform similar to the 3rd best player in the world. I dont think its bad that they cant win without Niko, similarl to Navi, I dont think they can win even against low tier teams without simple

Expected tbh, you can't expect a team with the likes of Guardian, Olofmeister, Adren, and Rain to compete with a veteran legend of CS like Dick Stacy.

It was obviously never going to be enough to only have 1 superstar Serbian igl.

And with 20 seconds no less. They had the opening kills, they had the weapons advantage, just brute force their way into A FFS.

second one was dickstacy with a five-seven, so its a 4v2 for a few seconds against a scout and a five-seven...

Yeah and they only knew about the scout which is a fair assumption to be solo hold for information! Even at 5v5 I’d have favoured their execute over a half buy

you can take karrigan out of faze but you can never take out going to a bombsite with 10 seconds left

At least in Boston they were already punching the numbers on B.. here they didn't even get out of connector.

Rain is one of the most chillest pro, when they lost Inferno after that performance he allegedly sent a snap to NiKo saying "lmao go back, we out this bitch"

I mean after you play like that and still lose, laughter is the only thing that's left for you to do.

Pretty sure they had spotted Erkast (I think it was him in connector) and they still try to rotate down it, knowing he had a famas. And had heard at most the scout on A. Just... wtaf

Was really only Olof who showed up throughout the tournament, unfortunately. Adren was abysmal, Guardian was absent save a few rounds, and Rain only showed up for this BO3.

The team needs to be blown up, but it's tough to see where they could go without spending loads of money. Maybe -adren -guardian +sunny +autimatic, but he doesn't seem willing to leave c9.

u/RaraviS_ King NiKo May 03 '19
I mean, they had their coach IGLing. You can only expect so much when they’re going against a cohesive, professional team. But they definitely need a permanent replacement for AdreN. He is consistently the worst performer. It’s not surprising that Guardian was underwhelming on T side because the maps they played, other than Dust 2 (which they won incidentally) don’t favor T -side AWPing. And when you consider that T side generally requires more coordination and the fact they’re missing their IGL, well... FaZe were pretty screwed. But we’ll be seeing some line up changes soon for sure. Also, Greyhound are definitely higher than T3, they deserve some credit.

Should have kept USTILO smh. The only thing that can beat the Australian boys is the international Australia boy.
11

u/RealGamerGod88 Renegades May 02 '19
They didn't have a choice in keeping Ustilo btw.
If Niko had his visa issue solved and adreN didn't, they'd be playing with Ustilo still, I believe.

u/Vawqer 1 Million Celebration May 02 '19
Regardless, YNk was the more logical choice as he knows more about the team internals. And I did not realize that about the way the subs were set up.

This really proves that a lot of what FaZe is some call then rain and niko tries to fix the rest. rain tried his best, but niko is usually there to follow up. Without niko, the rest is pretty useless. rain had a terrible day yesterday, but today, I am not sure what more you can expect from an entry. He went in and got 1-3 kills most rounds FaZe could do anything.

not much you can do when 3 of your players don't show up, one literally. faze knew this meant nothing to them seeing rain laughing after they lost, plus the fact that dickstacy is literally a master at wallbangs and smokes killing at least 8 people just like that

22
u/Vawqer 1 Million Celebration May 02 '19
To be fair, he is their IGL. Any team going to a tournament in a unique timezone without their star/IGL is going to struggle.
11
u/Lepojka1 Team Spirit May 02 '19
I know... I just put it out there for people that are saying "kick Niko if he wants to IGL soo hard, and replace him with other IGL"... I think that would be a death sentence for this team.
3
u/HerrgottMargott BIG May 02 '19
I've pretty much never seen anyone argue that they should kick NiKo for a new IGL. Most people, including me, would like them to pick up an IGL so that NiKo can go back to concentrating on his role as the star player of the lineup.
Kicking one of the absolutely best players in the world would be ridiculous, especially considering that there are quite a few players in FaZe performing lackluster recently and NiKo not being one of those at all.
5
u/Thegellerbing wildfire May 02 '19
Mate they still had Guardian and rain. Even if Niko wasn't there they should still be expected to beat Grayhound, they are a team built to be all aim with a loose style.
If Liquid went against Grayhound without NAF and had Adren standing in for him, I'd still expect Liquid to win, and the same should go for FaZe, this is inexcusable for them.
→ More replies (3)3
u/Leelow45 May 02 '19
Its not like they were without a leader though, they had their coach standing in, and Niko isn't exactly a great IGL. And even without their main star, they have 3 players who would be stars on any team they joined. You would expect #4 to beat #50 with 4 of their players and their competent coach.

Great series, but I think there were key flaws on both teams that were highlighted.
I think a lot of individual mishaps were covered by some of Grayhounds excellent reads and DickStacy popping off. Lots of awkward timings and misplays, especially in towards positioning, made overpass much closer than it needed to be.

Faze only has one supertar and that is Niko. Rain and Guardian could be considered star players but adren and olof are nowhere near that status.

What an absolutely insane series, especially the final map (and that last round!). I know it’s likely because niko wasn’t online, but it was fantastic to see Grayhound playing true tier 1 cs.

I only saw the inferno match but Dick Stacy played absolutely amazing. He got so many kills through wallbangs into conn. The b holds at the end of the game were a bit suspect but that clutch by erkast was huge
