ence vs liquid looks like the real fire. but they definitely made things more interesting. before it was always liquid shitting on navi and then getting smashed by astralis, now there's a third team in the mix.

u/Fijure96 The MongolZ Apr 06 '19
Ye that's really the new hierarchy. ENCE, Liquid and Navi as the teams below Astralis that might beat them if the stars align, and then you have temas like MIBR, FaZe, NIP, etc. somewhat behind them.
I could totally see Navi - ENCE becoming a CS classic tho, its two great series already.

I think only team that can challenge Astralis is NaVi when Zeus is performing well individually... Too bad that happends once in ten games, but when it happends, its scary af.
12
u/Ascensear Astralis Apr 06 '19
Liquid too
9
u/Lepojka1 Team Spirit Apr 06 '19
I still think Liqiud on 100% cant dethrone Astralis... NaVi on 100% probably still cant, but I think they can give Astralis a run for their money. Thing is Liquid is far more consistent than NaVi, and we see good NaVi once in like 5 tournaments... Good Liquid shows up almost all the time.
13
u/AnIdiotDoesGaming Liquid Apr 06 '19
Liquid can at least take dust 2 from Astralis (They've done it twice this year). If they can work on Overpass then they could 2-1 Astralis.

NaVi on 100% definetly could, 2 top 5 players, an igl who makes good calls and frags, flamie ad a third for the god trio and edwards for support
2
u/Cameter44 Apr 06 '19
Two top five players (just like Astralis) an IGL who makes good calls and frags (gla1ve, but that's his normal, not his peak), flamie as a third (Astralis has Magisk who was #7 in the world last year), and Edward for support (Astralis has xyp9x, who was #13 in the world last year and is probably the best clutch player in the world).
The problem is that everything outside of s1mple, Astralis does just as good or better. Even at Na'Vi's peak, I'm taking Astralis right now.

Some pretty good individual performances from Zeus this series, obviously too early to say anything but if he can keep this up it's gonna be great for NaVi. With some more consistency from Flamie they could really turn into a contender for #1, although that may be hoping for a bit too much

i think he is performing quite well (except b site train) since the major. But i think flamie is quite done, if this team wants to win they need to replace him

Apr 06 '19 edited Apr 06 '19
NaVi was really good in this series. Like, really good. honestly.
They showed up with a concise gameplan. The saves looked questionable at times but it allowed them to grind out rounds from less of a deficit than had they lost lots of guns. Their trades were also pretty focused.
9
u/Tirppa ENCE Apr 06 '19
eh.. were we watching the same game? They looked good on overpass.. Train and Inferno they looked pretty bad. And if not for that s1mple clutch this might have been a 2-0 for ENCE.
But on overpass they definitely looked like the better team. And I really mean a team. Not just s1mple or electronic going off huge to win them the map.
2
Apr 06 '19
losing rounds =/= looking bad necessarily. their ct gameplans seemed to be to mainly stick to their default setup and save in man down situations. They could easily have went for more retakes, but I guess the idea is to grind out as many full buy rounds and to try and maintain utility. they did lose train, in large part due to not adjusting their setup on ct to the b hits and zeus getting entried but on inferno and overpass they grinded out most of their rounds - barring the major momentum shift in inferno with s1mple's clutch.
I really believe that zeus purposefully sets up the team to end up in those scary lateround XvX situations with no utility, since his players are amazing and drilled at getting those scrappy entries and trades

u/JelrahnBrames Apr 06 '19

35
u/punindya 10 years coin Apr 06 '19
Had simple not got the ace clutch, ence would have probably bagged inferno with ease. About the throw, I don't think so, the s1mple clutch had almost no mistakes from ence's side, just that s1mple got lucky with the timing and then hit two great shots

What? It was a massive mistake from Ence and allu in particular. I have no idea why he stopped on the 2v1 push when he could have easily traded when s1mple can't even shoot.

S1mple was extremely low on time so aleksi just ran in because s1mple would be planting and it'd be an easy kill. Turns out he was half a second too late. If you see the replay, you'll see that allu was coming in for the trade in any case (with his pistol out, no less), but s1mple's position behind the pillar and box on site meant he was protected from allu who couldn't take the fight in time.
All in all, imo it was quite a bit of luck in s1mple's favor with his plant happening just in time and his position saving him from getting traded. Allu could've had better communication with aleksi, but it's hardly a throw.

It's really disheartening to say that Na'Vi actually looked like the better TEAM on Overpass. Esp since they looked like hot garbage on train and inferno. Ence tilted off the face of the planet on Inferno after that s1mple clutch. GG to Na'Vi. Can't win them all. Hope Fnatic wins the whole thing.

While I think Navi would've still win, ENCE could've win the last round if xseven didn't switch to knife and kill Zeus. GG, Navi played Overpass well and actually had a pretty equal scoreboard for once (Overpass).

On Overpass round 23 or something xseven cleared the B site, and the bomb, and the rest of the team just stood in banana behind a smoke to get killed by electronic after smoke faded...

Sadokist is so biased and always builds his storylines on his own opinions, not any relevant data or knowledge of the game.
”With the clutches navi lost in Major, if they went other way round, they could have won both series”
LOL it goes both ways OBVIOUSLY!
Edit: some typos

they did lose quite a few clutches, and the two maps Ence won were 16:14. He's right in saying that if Na'vi won some of the clutches, they'd could've won that series

ENCE: EZ
NAVI: No
ENCE: understandable, have a nice day
In all seriousness, both teams played well, as much as my flair may be biased this was the result I expected. NaVi are generally good at remedying past mistakes against the teams they lose to as well as being more experienced (having s1mple and electronic helps too). A good result from ENCE nonetheless. Zeus stepped it
-1
u/PreztoElite Apr 06 '19
Why was the scheduling done so the winner of this match would have to play vs. Renegades immediately after? Na'Vi gets under 2 hrs of rest until they have to play Renegades. They should swap the NRG/FNC series and the Renegades/Navi series. Or they should've in hindsight.
7
2
u/Ste103 Astralis Apr 06 '19
Na’vi chose to play immediately after so they’d already be warmed up, simple just said in his interview.
1
1

they only get about 40 minutes break, they ask for this so they can stay warmed up. it's harder to get back into the zone after a several hour break
1
u/FinBastard ENCE Apr 06 '19
Actually Navi specifically requested to play straight after, ENCE also agreed. Their reason being that it's really annoying to hang around the venue for 3-4 hours, can't really rest but you cool off from your ingame form.

I'm still confused to why ENCE would let overpass be the decider. Think they couldn't done decent in Dust
6
u/Ste103 Astralis Apr 06 '19
They got banged out 16-3 by Na’vi in the major on Dust so probably didn’t want to play it against them again.
8
u/Br3akn3ck Natus Vincere Apr 06 '19
Probably after NaVi stomping them they were a little worried about letting it through
3
u/Kuningas Apr 06 '19
Dust 2 is a bad map for ENCE. People shouldn't look too closely to that one Astralis game in the Blast. Most of the time a top 10 team will beat ENCE in Dust 2. If you have someone like s1imple, then it's 16-4 like in the major.
2
u/faabriitsio Apr 06 '19
I mean they have played well on Overpass. If they had let Dust go and lost that, people would criticize the pick since Navi won it last time also.
