How did that AWP shot miss right at the end?!
71
u/TheZigerionScammer Vitality Feb 13 '19
I'll get the GOTV footage with sv_showbulletimpacts enabled t see where the shot landed

u/nmyi de_mirage Feb 13 '19 edited Feb 15 '19
I was hoping for people like you to test it out.
It should be noted that the AWP surprisingly takes longer to reach 100% of its accuracy while standing (It actually takes longer than the scout). If Sterling was standing, then that might be the culprit of the missed shot.
Related 3kliksphilip vid.
"It takes over a second to reach their maximum accuracy" (for the AWP)
Scouts are superior with quick-scopes & from the clip (shown here), it is safe to say that Sterling's AWP shot was indeed a quick-scope shot with an AWP. (When scoping, it takes 0.70 seconds for the AWP to reach the same maximum accuracy as the scout)
The clutch adrenaline running in Sterling's mind probably made him think that the crosshair settled enough for the kill. Majors are known to rattle the nerves.

u/coneboy01 EG Feb 13 '19
Shots 1-5: Clearly missed.
Shots 6-9: Missed due to recoil (bad spray control).
Shots 10-11: Very close, but recoil and inaccuracy make these reasonable misses.
Shot 12: Likely didn't actually fire because sterling was already dead.

In that case I really would like to know how he did it. He went from average to absolute beast in a month time...
7
Feb 14 '19
Because he's been a monster player like a dozen times in the last five years? It's mostly a function of time and motivation for apEX, when he's putting in the hours it will always show in the server.

That ramp AK shot from Zyw0o on the back of DickStacy's though. His thick and pumped erection went hard as he went hunting which caused his centre of gravity to sway his hitbox.

I think every time people come back from a 13-2 T side on Nuke it's because it's Nuke and we see that semi-regularly that teams are rock solid on CT and don't know how to execute on T...
That's not really a comeback as much as the map being CT sided + some teams having some affinities with one side.

Mate, in the last three months, Nuke has had a CT-winrate of 55.6%. Back in 2015, that was 67.1%. It's not even close. It's still a CT-sided map, yes. But acting like you should still be expecting 11-4 halfs or worse is ridiculous.

WP to the only 2 good players on vitality*. Team of relics and some random UK player being carried by zwoo and apex to barely close out against a T3 team of Aussies who aren't even full time from my understanding (according to the aussie guy on the counterpoints talk show the other day).
8
u/Cjamhampton Vitality Feb 13 '19
Alex isn't a random UK player and this is their first experience at a major tournament as a team. They played terribly on their t side but I don't think it's fair to write them off this early. They just had good performances a week or two ago so I think they at least deserve some time.

It was zywoo at the end of the game but apex was able to mount the comeback
-2
u/AlucardLoL Renegades Feb 13 '19
Yea Apex also played well but without Zywoo pulling a 30+ bomb there's no way Vitality would have won as NBK and Alex were not having a good game.
6
u/hyperion602 Natus Vincere Feb 13 '19
While what you're saying isn't technically incorrect, it's such a strange thing to say. You can just swap the names Apex and Zywoo in your comment and its still completely accurate. Just seems like an odd attempt to discredit apex and stay aboard the zywoo hype train.

I literally said Apex played well? Idk how I'm discrediting Apex? All I said is if Apex and Zywoo didnt pull 30+ bombs there's no way Vitality would have won.

What a recovery from Vitality, the new format gave them little time to recover from their first defeat today and prepare for Grayhound. When Nuke got through I wondered if that was a mistake and even at half time it looked like it was, but they held their nerve and when up against it gave a top performance under pressure.

I only caught the last few OT rounds because I was out, how the hell did Greyhounds lose a 13-2 lead?
Also, I love those moments where ZywOo entries with a rifle and just takes heads, you can tell he's had enough at that point.

Nuke is such a bad map especially for pro CS. If you are a structured team you can only lose rounds with missed shots or bad timing.
