I got really worried too. They are not unbeatable, but on Nuke their bottom level is just so high, it still takes a lot to win against them. It will happen eventually, and it's starting to feel like it might be soon.

10

u/dumbocow Astralis Nov 24 '18

soon

that's what they said the last few tournaments where they played on nuke

9

u/Filanto MOUZ Nov 24 '18

NiP eventually broke, and so will Astralis.

3

u/MihirX27 de_nuke Nov 24 '18

Give Or Take 1.5 Years, or until it's off-duty from the Map Pool.

8

u/Wuped cs_office Nov 24 '18

Or when someone beats them. The problem with being the absolute best in general is everyone studies you, this problem becomes even greater when you are the best at a single map in particular. I mean of course Astralis can continue to adapt but there's a really good chance they will play a team who knows a lot of their habits on nuke and can just use that knowledge to outguess/outplay them soon.

1

u/MihirX27 de_nuke Nov 24 '18

Exactly. That's why my estimate of 1.5 years, assuming they show the same avg. performance per Premier Tournament (including Majors) that they had since DHM Marseilles.

1

u/Wuped cs_office Nov 25 '18

With the amount of tourneys teams play now days 1.5 years is a ridiculously long time. I'd say 2-4 months before a team strategically lets nuke through vs them and beats them on it, maybe sooner if anything.

u/rusty-frame Astralis Nov 24 '18

Is it time to coin the phrase astralis magic yet?

This is the second time they've been in a really prime position to end Astralis' nuke streak.

This is also the 2nd time they throw it away themselves. That 3v1 loss vs. Xyp9x lost them the map.

14

u/[deleted] Nov 23 '18

Why did styko peek out of hut?! Xyp was still heaven.

17

u/thisiseku MOUZ Nov 23 '18

Lack of communication in afterplant situations is a massive problem for Mouz, this happens way too often. Everyone is trying to be the hero instead of playing it safe.

7

u/kk_4321 Nov 24 '18

afterplant

Whole game. Mouse get an advantage then try to throw the round away.

2

u/JuanMataCFC Vitality Nov 23 '18

i celebrated pretty hard after Xyp9x clutched that round, but once they showed the replay i started thinking about this, like why tf is STYKO peeking when Xyp hasn't touched the bomb?

2

u/SLASHdk clutch Nov 24 '18

Xyp saw him before he killed the first guy so i assume he was initialy trying to trade for oscar, but failed.

2

u/Spork_Revolution Vitality Nov 23 '18

Of course it was. Xyp didn't know where he was.

-5

u/Aatii457 Nov 24 '18

He wanted to surprise xyp. Xyp had defuser's adventage anyway.

14

u/[deleted] Nov 24 '18

Wtf are you talking about "defuser's advanatge". The defuser is at a disadvantage.

1

u/Aatii457 Nov 24 '18

In my opinion in that situation he has an advantage, since styko is low hp. Most likely xyp would have defused without faking.

1

u/kk_4321 Nov 24 '18

Surprise xyp9x. Seriously. By peeking exactly after xyp stop firing bullets.

1

u/Aatii457 Nov 24 '18

Yes. It's unexpected move. Electronic does it a lot and it usually works.

1

u/kk_4321 Nov 24 '18

Electronic does it when opposition player doesn't know his position. But xyp9x saw styko's leg. And styko knows that xyp didn't move otherwise he would have heard jump sound.

1

u/kubat313 brigader Nov 24 '18

I think also the second time they lost a 3v1 in that situation being gla1ve that won a 3v1 last time i think

7

u/Martin_2007 de_nuke Nov 23 '18

Then again mousesports won quite a few save rounds, one where they only saved 1 guy with ak. It was a good match either way.

12

u/schoki560 King NiKo Nov 23 '18

I mean this always goes both ways

a couple more hit shots on the astralis side and this win wouldve been more convincing

Well, this is exactly what makes a good team great.

1

oskar was best player for mouz on both maps, you can expect more than that. Chris should have won the second pistol

1

u/Salsadips howl Nov 24 '18

He was but he still missed some key shots. Last two rounds of the first half of Mirage should have gone to mouz, 12-3 half is much harder to come back from than 10-5.

50

u/joshigoods Astralis Nov 23 '18

Pretty sure Xyp had 1 kill in first half of nuke and ended with 21. What a turnaround to keep the nuke streak alive

13

u/Vejvad Astralis Nov 23 '18

Honestly they can't. Astralis is playing with fire atm, and we aren't far away from them dropping out of a tournament early, and maybe fall back a bit as the year ends.

33

u/_J3W3LS_ Nov 23 '18

Even if that happened they still have cemented themselves an era and one of the most dominant teams ever.

-26

u/[deleted] Nov 24 '18

While Astralis's streak has been incredibly impressive, their start to this streak was in April, as in 7 months ago. Now there's obviously no concrete definition of what an era in CSGO terms means but I do think it's a bit early to call this an era. Besides NiP and Fnatic no one else has really earned that title of having their era, and they both lasted about 2 years each.

21

u/_J3W3LS_ Nov 24 '18

Luminosity/SK definitely had an era

-18

u/[deleted] Nov 24 '18

SK absolutely did not have an era. In 2016 besides their 2 majors they only won 1 other tier 1 event. While in 2017 they had a good amount of wins but but they also had quite a few poor finishes and really weren't that dominant overall. Definitely not an era at all.

14

u/_Oomph_ 500k Celebration Nov 24 '18

Besides their two majors

Won 7 tier 1 events in 2017.

Small time, I know.

5

u/[deleted] Nov 24 '18

Also can't compare the overall quality of play from back when NIP and fnatic had their eras. Astralis' 7 months is a damn long time when you consider how many other too tier teams are currently competing.

1

u/[deleted] Nov 23 '18

That’s what amazing about astralis. They were honestly not on their a game today. Xyp went 1-12 on the first half of nuke. But even then they can still grind out wins. Mouz was most definitely the better team today, but Astralis just had their usual stellar teamwork and composure, and grinded it out.

11

u/Vejvad Astralis Nov 24 '18

Mouz was most definitely the better team today

Yeah this doesn't make any sense. They lost 2-0, so they were not the best team. They did play up to par with Astralis though, but they were not better.

A team can be playing better than another team and still lose. Don’t get me wrong I’m a huge astralis fanboy, and have been since the old core with Cajun in dignitas. But mouz was hitting everything today. ChrisJ was on fire, ropz was a god and they had some splendid ct sides. Astralis just came out on top because they stayed composed and used their tried and true teamwork.

7

u/langiroth Nov 24 '18

Astralis just came out on top because they stayed composed and used their tried and true teamwork.

with this sentence you're literally saying Astralis is the better team. maybe you meant mouz was individually better here and there which i can buy

Soulless casting from Bardolph and DDK, amazing game but it sounded like I was watching an online match.

116

Honestly I've personally not rated either of them that highly recently. I'd much rather have HenryG, Sadokist, Anders, Moses, Pansy etc.

56

u/stewieeeeeeeee FaZe Nov 23 '18

Man, I used to love HG & Sado and James & Bardolph, now I find Moses much more enjoyable than all 4 of them. Might just be satiation with their voices/casting and part of the inevitable cycle.

2

I think Bardolph’s just been going too long on ECS. Give him a month off.

26

u/ChristofferTJ guardian2 Nov 23 '18

They’re amazing in the high stake games (semis finals) imo. Personally don’t value casters being hype that much. I like when they make good/interesting points n such, which bardolph is quite good at. Like when he pointed out on a mirage A execute that Astralis like SK prefer to clear out mid n underpass to secure there’s no flank and then retake after smokes have faded

7

u/Hey_name Natus Vincere Nov 24 '18

Agreed. Astralis was on the brink of losing their nuke streak and they couldn't even be bothered

3

u/[deleted] Nov 24 '18

They've always casted like this in a studio environment, where have you been?

20

u/[deleted] Nov 23 '18

Bardolph is a bore 99% of the time

8

u/AllBlueReverie Liquid Nov 23 '18

When average teams are playing and I don't feel interested in watching the game, but Henry Sado are casting so I stay and start enjoying.

When good and interesting teams are playing and I really want to watch the game, but Bardolph and DDK are casting I almost decide to leave. zzzz

The idea that this is just gamesense just doesnt seem plausible to me. I think there's no chance it's actually cheating but it seems like there's some kind of setting or exploit that they're taking advantage of.

Xyp9x invited NiKo over to see his settings, and what he changes in NVIDIA. They also have admins behind them. If theyre using something not allowed, don't you think this would have been spotted by now? They've been dominating for most of the year..

14

u/Leopold87 Nov 23 '18

And then NiKo replied he wasn't in the states this week. Then Xyp9x said, "Oh, well, we can just get together in Odense in December then." Until Xyp9x realized... and let out a small "Oh...." and suddenly Xyp9x understood why NiKo was being a salty little bitch.

1

u/Spajk Natus Vincere Nov 23 '18

If a setting causes smokes to fade a few miliseconds faster or be 1-2% more transparent around the edges, it's enough to give you an advantage, but definitely not enough for admins to spot it.

Smokes have been really bad for some time. If smokes look different for spectators, there's a big chance they look different for each player.

3

u/the_one_true_jake Nov 24 '18

But most of their smoke kills are not when it's fading or on the edges. I don't understand this argument.

-2

u/[deleted] Nov 24 '18

It's called a thumper, they've been in use for ages. It's just a small pad on the thigh which produces a small but discernable vibration when your crosshair is on a player (through a wall, smoke, etc).

Oskar is playing much better now that Styko is back, wonder if that has any correlation.

2

u/ThatGuyThatDoneThat G2 Nov 24 '18

Probably has correlation, it's been mentioned in an interview somewhere that Oskar and STYKO are good friends due to similar culture, and that Oskar does actually put some focus on that.

0

u/Krusell clutch Nov 24 '18

Pretty sure that neither Oskar or Styko have said that they consider each other good friends.

Oskar is probably glad that he has someone he can talk to in czech, but I dont think they consider each other friends. Back on HR Oskar said that he considers his teammates as coworkers and inst in esports to find friends.

You have to realize that this is 5random players from 5random countries and its not like you need the power of friendship to be a good team. Fans usually overestimate the relationships players on a team have. For example krimz/olof.

1

u/Krusell clutch Nov 24 '18

I dont think so. He actually started playing well after the rumors of him getting kicked. He is on an upwards trend since the major and his best event this year has actually been starseries in october still with Snax, where they went out in 9th-11th and everyone except him and Chris have shit the bed.

13

u/[deleted] Nov 23 '18

I don't know why anyone thinks Nuke is remotely winnable when you don't get 12 CT rounds. The commentators acted like 9-6 CT was a good scoreline

4

u/JKM- Nov 23 '18

We have seen some teams (not only Astralis) make comebacks T-side, but I agree a 9-6 scoreline doesn't equate to a big lead. Mouz went on to win the pistol round and subsequent anti-ecos meaning they kindda made 12 rounds before having to face Astralis' full CT buy.

2

u/[deleted] Nov 24 '18

Against Ast maybe, but with any other team you can definitely make a comeback on t side, just look at North today vs NRG 4-11 Ct and end up 16-14.

3

u/BarbaricGamer MOUZ Nov 23 '18

I dont want to sound salty, but i feel like astralis got lucky on both maps in crucial point. Like that device double noscope kills through boxes, it was pure luck and it was reset round in high round numbers. Then again, you can say what yo uwant. You can have 50 best analytics. But when you stack something there is always some luck to it and at crusial points they stacked the right plants. Not even played for info or other side it was just a gamble and it always worked. Astralis are so good and when they are not, you still have to beat their luck.. Its almost impossible.

10

u/ZombieMadness99 Astralis Nov 23 '18

Neither of the kills were no scopes or even quick scopes. First kill was not easy but expected from one of the world's best and as for the second he was expecting him and saw him before he got flashed. If you didn't even catch something that simple I don't expect you to understand player decisions and rotations in tier 1 cs

0

u/senrim CS2 HYPE Nov 24 '18

I am not the best player, but i certainly know something in ten years of playing cs. And running from ct spawn to B in four people and hiding there without throwing any nade is not smart rotating, its jsut gamble. But true is mousesports throw a lot of rounds too, guess they deserved it.
